3.3 Pours a hazy copper gold with a minimal white head. Piney hop aroma that belies the hop punch in the front of the flavor. Finishes dry. Not the best I’ve had, but a solid example.
3.7 On tap at the brewery in Atlanta. Pours a clear, golden colored body with an inch thick, dense and frothy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves lots of lacing. Aroma is a good amount of earthy and herbal spiced hops with a light caramel. Deep grapefruits with some bready malts too. Flavor is similar. Definitely a denser pale ale. Again, lots of earth and herbal spicing with a somewhat piney grapefruit showing up and a touch of florals. Light caramel malt backing that offers a nice balance while allowing the deeper hops to shine. Finishes dry with a moderate bitterness and a lengthy aftertaste. Medium body and crisp with a moderate carbonation. Very nice drinking pale ale. Overall, a solid beer. An above average hoppingess that leans toward IPA levels. Just enough malt balance to keep this drinkable. Deeper and denser, which I found enjoyable.
3.6 12oz bottle at local BBQ joint i Nashville. Don’t understand low ratings on this one. Pours hazy orange with off-white head. Aromas of citrus, caramel hops, and hops. Flavor is citrusy with bitter hops and caramel malts. Pretty flavorful APA. Could have drank a whole six pack.
4.0 Pours a slightly hazy golden honey orange color with golden yellowish orange hues when held to a light source and a one finger foamy white head that quickly fades into a lasting ring. Sporadic spots of minimal lacing left behind. Slightly hoppy aroma with some earthy pine and citrus fruit character in the nose. Hints of orange peel, mango and grapefruit along with a slightly toasted biscuit and caramel malt presence. On the fuller end of medium bodied with a surprisingly chewy mouthfeel and hop forward flavor. Pretty dry and hoppy up front with a very pleasant earthy bitterness that lingers throughout into a dry finish. Earthy pine notes as well as some sweet citrus character from the prominent hops balanced nicely by a sweet caramel/biscuit malt back bone that is slightly toasty and not overpowering. I was really pleasantly surprised by this beer. It was much hoppier than I expected and very well balanced. Recommended.
2.7 (Sample Date: 3/25/2010 Source:Other) 12 oz bottle. Caramel with a citrusy sour aroma. Slightly fruity. Cloudy orange golden with a large white fluffy head. Hefty bitterness with grassy resiny hop flavor. Medium body and mouth feel. Well carbonated with a hefty residual bitterness in the finish. Bitterness just seems to much to me.
3.0 Pours a cloudy medium yellow with a white head that persists for about 2 minutes. Aroma is of spruce and hay. Taste is smooth, hoppy, and solid. Medium carbonation.
3.0 Bottle. Poured a golden amber color with an off-white head. Citrus and floral hop aroma with some bready malt notes as well. Not as hoppy in the flavor with a bit more caramel and toffee notes. Not bad overall.
2.7 Bottled. Poured hazy medium golden with a huge cap of sticky off-white head. The aroma picked up pine and grapefruit hoppage over soft caramel and bready notes.. a touch of oxidation as well.. non-offensive, but not too much going on. The flavor found biscuit and caramel sweetness at the core with orange and earthy bitterness around.. became quite sharp as it warmed with both metallic notes and too much carbonation. Light-medium bodied on the palate, again with too many bubbles.. I got this recently, but it seemed like it had some age on it.
3.1 From a bottle poured a golden color with a fair amount of head. Nice hoppy flavor with a lasting finish.
2.7 Poured from a bottle. Huge white head, hazy orange with lots of carbonation. Citrus hops - bitter hops, sticky on the tongue and finishes bitter. I was a bit disappointed, I was expecting more. Not a bad brew but a bit funked.
3.5 12 oz. bottle from everywhere in Atlanta. I have had this brew so many fucking times. Haze orange with a nice fluffy head. Let’s see how fast it fades away. Fades away quite slowly (yes, I just stared at the fucker for 10 minutes). Malt hop balance is nice. Nice subtle citrus hop that balances out the sweet tea-like malts. The tea-like malts are very subtle, which in some cases can be a bit obtrusive. I know this is not rated highly, but i am having a fairly good experience here. Ok, nowI have almost fallen out of love. Citrus hop flavor comes through slightly, but the bittering hop accentuates the overall hop experience. Wish the hops were a bit better in the flavor, but overall, this is a pretty good APA. I think this is heavily underrated.
2.0 Clear dark gold color/ white head. grassy spicy hop aromas. Frothy medium body. Medicinal, astringent, bandaid flavors with mild caramel.
3.0 Super tall off-white head (may have let this one get too cold). Cloudy dark golden body. Aroma of citrus, sharp resin, and faint caramel/dough. Decent texture with a fairly strong bitter finish for a pale ale. Bitterness lingers a bit too long though. Good, interesting pale ale.
3.3 Bottle from Kingdom Liquors. Poured a hazy amber color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate sour citrus hop and small malt aroma. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. My expectations where met.
3.4 Pours a darkish golden color with a small white head. It has a grapefruit smelling hop aroma and the aroma of pine. It has a pleasant lingering hop bitterness and a citrus grapefruit hop taste along with a pine taste and is a bit dry. This is a pretty good beer.
3.4 From the Jug at the GABF Colorado Convention Center, Denver 11/10/2008 Hoppy aroma. Clear golden coloured fruity and hoppy with a crisp and slightly dry bitter finish.
3.2 12oz bottle courtesy of bhalter8. Pours a hazy orange to copper color with one finger white head that settles quickly. Aroma is sweet and floral with notes of caramel, honey, grass, wheat, light floral esters, light floral hops. Flavor is sweet and sweet and floral with notes of caramel, honey, floral hops, light citrus, light pine. Generally light to medium body with a pleasing hoppy finish.
1.9 Bottle. Pours a very lightly hazy orange-amber hue. A massive head froths up way too quick, indicating probably infection. Sticky, cloud-like patches of lacing coat the glass. The aroma confirms my suspicions....this one is funked. Peppery, dirty smelling yeast dominates any underlying malt, while bitter orange peel keeps things sharp. The flavor is biting and bitter, citrusy and grassy, with very little toasted toffee sweetness and a minerally, earthy finish. Overly active and bone dry, the palate is all off. Get your sanitation in order, folks.
3.2 Bottle. Orange with thin white head. Kind of cloudy. Nice citrus(hoppy) smell. Taste clean and refreshing. Better than average I’d say. Great, no probably not.
2.9 Sampled at the 8th Annual Music City Brewer’s Festival. Caramel, orange, white head. Aroma is caramel, toasted malt. Taste is spicy hops, caramel, toasted malt.
3.2 On tap at Nashville’s Music City Brew Festival. A solid and refreshing pale, but not too memorable when put up next to many of the other pales at the festival.
3.1 very carbonated, taste has a good but hidden hop flavor with some spice. overall not too impressive
2.9 Bottle, #478. Red pour with decent head. Piney hop aroma and flavor. Dry finish. Decent beer, nothing special here.
2.9 Purchased at Greens in ATL. Poured a brick red color with a small pillowy head. The nose was hoppy and piney. The flavor was an onslaught of hops and not blended well. All I got was hops and pine.
2.8 Pour from bottle. Pale amber color. Very big pine smell. Taste was all pine and citrus up front. Very off balanced to me. Not great.
3.6 Got a bottle of this. Poured a soft pale amber with a some haze. The head is one finger thick rocky offwhite. The nose is mildly citrusy, caramel malt, well balanced, some sweetness, bit of an off earthy character. Nice citrusy hop feel, grapefruit rind, good malt balance. Could use some beefing up but was still really tasty.
3.1 On tap at Raleigh WBF. Pours a clear, light amber with a decent white head that settles. Sour aroma of peaches, lemon zest, and grassy hops. Taste is sour peach, apricot, and Cascade hops. Citrus, astringent finish. I did actually enjoy this beer a lot even though formally it is not too impressive.
2.9 12 ounce bottle from somewhere. Pours a hazy peach color with a thin head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel with bright citrus fruit notes. Just tad bit of chlorine. Taste is bitter, leafy hops. Not as well balanced on the aroma. Citrus finish. Medium bodied,
3.1 Orange amber, decent head. Aroma of earthy and floral hops. Flavor was some biscuit malts and more earth and floral hops. Touch of citrus. Not quite my kind of flavor profile, but not a bad beer.
3.0 Pours an amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is grainy with caramel malts and citrus hops. Flavor is a little better than what I expected. The citrus hops come out a little more on the finish of this one.
