2.2 8%-version. Drukket på Bergstua. Lys gylden. Klar. Lavt tett skum som daler sakte. Blir film. Søt gressaroma. Smaken tørrhøy. Hint av fjøs. Lett tørr avslutning. Alkoholen skinner gjennom.
ABV 8,0%.
2.4 Review: 330ml bottle of Red Horse Beer: 8.0% vol. First brew from the Philippines, lets see how it goes. Comes in a nice bottle with the logo of a red horse, bit of a retro look to it. Red Horse is San Miguel’s high alcohol beer brand. Introduced in 1982, its extremely popular in the Philippines, can be found in cans and bottles, and pretty much about everywhere and anywhere in the country, on tap and can even be served in buckets! The alcohol by volume differs depending on region, with the export version for international drinkers coming out at a high 8%, while it is 6.9%. for the home market. Either way its marketed as “Extra Strong” On pour it is flat, no carbonation resulting in no head and a golden colour, a very flat terrible looking effort here on the eye…… Getting a hoppy smell on the nose, its not strong and pretty faint overall, but its there. Getting the earthy hops and the sweet fresh grains…. Onto the taste, first impressions are good, tastes not too bad. Has a bit of a tangy taste with the hops and there is some character there alright. Hoppy and with dark fruits detected in the initial few mouthfuls. Also getting a sweet corn flavour coming out too. Full bodied. Barley malts, hops, sweet. Has some interesting flavours and a unique taste but cant say it is winning me over. Doesn’t overly excite, but for an Asian beer its a very good effort. Not much from the bottle which is always annoying, not much at all. Might be a nice beer to sip at a bar on a beach in the Philippines, like all these exotic beers tend to be. Not bad really, not sure what I think of it to be honest, it was ok I guess. Not something I would buy again in a hurry as it wasn’t as smooth as it should be, that with the high alcohol content, but as I said, for an Asian beer and half way around the world, it isn’t too bad. It is a cheap beer from Asia that has some flavours and a taste to it, is not overly offensive and for that alone it is impressive. Might try again…..
2.4 Old rating from 2018 - 330ml bottle brought back by friends. Pours golden with a white foamy head. Aromas & tastes of corn, bread, alcohol & malt. Medium body. Sweet finish
3.0 Only checked in 32 times before. Slightly stronger lager. Good taste. Refreshing on the terrace after returning to the resort.
3.9 From a bottle to a glass. Pours a clear amber color with a medium foamy frothy head. Aroma is a light sweet cracker malt and light barley or corn note. Taste follows the aroma with a earthy hop note in the sip. Medium mouthfeel. Very tasty Pale Lager/Pilsner! One of the better Pale Lagers!
2.6 Clear golden, tiny white head. Malty nose, fruity yeast with mild candy notes, floral, perfumed, hints of biscuits and alcohol. Malty taste, light caramel sweetness, dry, noble hops, hint of alcohol, balanced. Medium body, soft to average carbonation. 6, 2, 6, 2, 10
2.6 Can.Clear golden colour with small white head.Aroma of hops and grain light malty and lively with short finish.
2.3 Bottle from the asia markt in hamburgs mönkebergstraße. a nice find. piss golden with a small white head. quite sweet, but not too awful. low carbonation, malty, boozy. gets drunk, for sure.
1.8 Bottled, 330ml, at 7% ABV from Bao Giang Supermarket, Banbury, Oxon. Gold with white, fizzed head. Oversweet corn flavour to this from the off, sweet sugar water with a note of alcohol. Fusty cereal notes. Really quite dodgy but hey, a new country to the list for me.
1.8 Hm, strange combination of malts, sweetness and alc. Some mineral flavors at finish.
2.0 330ml bottle, as Red Horse Beer, 8 % abv, from Vinmonopolet Langnes. Fast declining, noisy white head, crystal clear warm golden body, poor lacing. Distant sweet pale malty smell. Vague taste profile minerals, cereal, and metallic fruits. Candy sweetness to the ending, hints of alcohol. About drinkable, but rather empty. (Tromsø 19.09.2020).
3.8 Either I got a different kind from the one on the site (the label on mine says 8% alc), or there's something seriously wrong with the people on this site. Or with me. I liked it! I liked it a lot! It's very drinkable albright strong, with notes of coca cola and peppers. Perfect beer for a warm night!
1.9 How: Bottle. Where: Had at home. Appearance: Golden colour with a white head. Aroma: Malt, grain, yeast, vegetables. Body: Light body, medium carbonation. Flavour: Malt, grain, yeast.
1.4 Nothing special to me. Tastes like an asian beer. I won't bother with it again.
1.1 Well I drank it. That’s about it.
1.1 Sample from bottle at Vectura-messe, as Red Horse Beer. ABV is 8%. Brewed for San Miguel in Hong Kong. Clear golden colour. Awful aroma. Bad flavour too, drainpour. The only reason to drink this is if you are an alcoholic living on the street in Hong Kong in a cardboard box.
2.1 12oz can pours a clear, dark gold with zero head. Zero. Nose has garbage, malt, corn, tomato. Flavor has metal, corn, malt, straw. Flavor could be worse. There's a hint of trashy booze at the end, but it drinks better. A touch harsh on the finish.
2.5 Clear golden with a decent white head that dilapidates quickly. Taste is a little grain, with a distant booze and bitterness. Drinkable.
2.0 I play poker with Filipinos...which this is their beer of choice. I tried one of the regular San Miguel pilsners or pale ales before. This was just as bland....but with more ABV and a bit of a bite. Drinks well for 8%, but since there is not that much malt to balance out, it's on the dry side with slight heat. I appreciate trying new beers, especially higher gravity...but for the game I'll either stick with the craft beer I bring or simply Heineken or Corona which is provided on the house.
3.5 Golden and clear. No head and not much life.Slightly sweet. The label described it as ' A world class premium beer' They are having a laugh-it is not. It is my country number 101 though.
2.5 Thanks yantarcoast for noticing. Canned at 8.0% ABV. Clear gold, small and short-lived white head. Aroma: malts, esters, light alcohol. Inoffensive. Light to medium body. Average carbonation. Taste: clean. Malts, fruit. Well-hidden alcohol. So is the hop. Generally: not the worst within the style.
2.3 33cl bottle from Malta. It is an average strong beer with lot of sweet malt, some bad smoke, hint of hop. Co2 is low, foam is almost nothing.
2.2 Beautiful red appearance, Roasted lager On the strong side, Still a decent drink paired with Filipino bbq!
3.3 Pale strong lager, standard taste
2.2 This is a backlog rating from 2007 from a bottle, from notes. When I had this beer it was average to below average for the style and not something I wanted to have again or I just didn't get back to my notes because of my technology at the time. Words to describe this beer are pale grainy, sweet corn, grassy, just not very good.
2.5 8%ととても強い。味わいは薄めだがコシがあってアメリカのビールよりはよい
2.6 Had this one in Thailand. Malty and strong. Not particularly tasty, so you might end up drinking it way too fast.
1.9 Bottle. Pale gold with some lace. Oxidized nose, honey, cardboard. Sweet sulfury like a fart, honey. No thanks.
