Red Oak Amber Lager

Red Oak Amber Lager

Red Oak is a Munich Urtyp (old style) lager. We begin the brewing process with custom kilned imported Munich malt. Red Oak is then is the hopped with Spalt Noble hops imported from Bavaria, the oldest hop growing region in the world. Before fermentation we add a yeast strain from Weihenstehpen, the oldest brewery in the world, founded before 1040 AD. Weeks of aging gives Red Oak the smooth taste its known for.

2.9 Pours a clear golden brown on tap with fluffy off-white head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of sweet malt and clean lager esters. Taste follows, solid for what it is, just not that exciting.
3.0 A good Amber, their lager is better. Pours a clear red. Smells slightly of nuts. Taste is basic red, some nuts. Well balanced finish. Had on tap at the Lighthouse Beer and Wine Festival in Wilminton, NC.
2.8 あまい、かおりなし、苦味なし まったりアンバー
2.1 Really sweet lager. Clear reddish color. Big malt sweetness and caramel notices. Light, but sticky. Still a decent drinker.
4.2 Poured from tap in s 16 oz glass. Nice amber color. Sweet flavor. Real good
2.8 Location: Draft at CLT, 1/15/15 Aroma: Light caramel malt aroma, earthy notes, there is not a ton more than that here Appearance: It pours a darker orange color, with a clear, small head, and basically no lacing Flavor: It is pretty similar flavor-wise, malty and kinda sweet, with a mild bitterness Palate: It has a decent feel to it, a light-medium body, and a fairly lively carbonation Overall Impression: I don’t have a ton to add to the overall. It’s an okay lager, but not a particularly great one.
3.8 great local beer poured from tap with nice clear amber color and nice white head. well balance malt with a clean finish. this beer is very refreshing and a good go to Lager
3.5 Malty. Very little hop character. Crisp lager. Good mild flavor overall. Very approachable for those new to craft beer.
3.1 Lots of malt. Decent body. Smooth.A little sweet for me. No hop bite at all.
2.7 Draft at CLT. Clear golden amber color, medium white head. Aroma of light caramel. taste is lightly toasted caramel. Plain.
2.5 Draft. Pours a medium red, forming a small, thin head of foam. Lacing almost non evident. Aroma was dank, hops are barely present. Flavour is somewhat soapy, lightly herbal. Finish is slightly metallic. Pass.
3.3 12oz bottle. Pours reddish amber with a white head. Malty, sweet, caramel, mild bitterness. Very drinkable. Not a style I like but it was pretty good.
5.0 excellent beer brewed in NC. only downside is availability is limited due to need to refridgerate.
2.7 Not a fan. When I drank this I was reminded of how my basic homebrewing skills far exceeds the quality of this beer. Oddly sweet on the finish and lacking much character. I’m not a fan of the aftertaste.
2.8 It pours amber with a white that does leave some lacing. It has a faint, malty aroma. The taste with of caramel with some fruit. It was fairly smooth on the palate.
3.0 Sampled on draft this beer poured a red-caramel color with a medium sized creamy off white head that left decent lacing. The aroma was very faint, a touch malty and had a bit of fruity hops. The flavor was sweetish caramel and dark fruits. Medium length finish. Moderately full bodied and smooth. Pleasant.
1.8 Red Oak is clear ruddy amber beer with a decent foam of cream colored tiny bubbles. Nose is medium roasted malt and grain. Taste is rather thin grain and a bit of moderately toasted malt. Hops are very mild. Body is rather thin. somewhat of a disappointing lager. On tap at ruddy duck tavern in morehead city north carolina.
3.5 Smooth, very smooth. no bitterness or after taste. Fresh, crisp, earthy, nice Some caramel maltine, toasted favor. Great after working outside on a hot day. For a amber I really like it.
2.9 Reddish amber pour with an off white head. Nose is a little bready and malty. Taste is decent. A little mineral astringency in the finish.
2.8 red color; musty, earthy, wet dog aroma; medium-bodied and malty with caramel notes
3.8 Got this bottle as a gift from my uncle, who lives in Raleigh. Pours a clear and somewhat bubbly amber, which fades to solar yellow at the very bottom. Pale buff head is fairly thick but doesn’t stick around too long. Strong, malty aroma has a fruity underpinning. Flavor is not crisp like some lagers, smoother and more ale-like; it is malty, a little sweet, with an undertone of pear and apple and a snippet of caramel. Mouthfeel is firm and smooth, if not so fizzy. Overall, a superior lager.
2.8 An average craft bee at best. Heavy flavored and pours a deep red. Tastes slightly hoppy.
3.0 Easy drinking and refreshing. Slight maltiness, and sweet breadiness in the taste. Nice beer to start the night with, especially if you get it fresh, and it’s served correctly with a larger foam head.
2.7 Draft at Maggionos in Durham, NC. American pint. Pours an amber-orange with a one finger off-white head. Some lacing. Aroma was mostly a malty mashup with slight toffee. The taste was a little underwhelming with no dominant flavor. It was very malty with slight bitterness from the hops. As a Marzen I wanted a little more body, spice, character, etc. But nonetheless it went down smooth and I’d rather drink this than a Budweiser.
3.7 After trying several beers on tap at a local restaurant (I think the owner is a hops fanatic) I finally found one that suited my taste. It is the exact color of iced tea. I was getting irritated with my waitress for taking so long to bring my beer. She looked at me strangely and pointed to it on my table. It was right next to a friends ice tea. LOL! Tasted smooth bready/yeasty nutty flavor. Not too hoppy which is a plus for me. reminiscent of a killian’s red.
2.8 Sampled at twin peaks, concord, nc clear amber pour. One inch thick head. Slight hoppy aroma and taste.
2.4 Red-amber with scant, dissipating, off-white head / Weak nose of dark caramel and co2 / Light, thin body, some sweetness with light hopping, and little finish / Light flavors of dark caramel and sour malt / Bud with color.
2.0 On tap at Pizzeria Toro, Durham. When ticking goes wrong. This is why bar samples are awesome. Because when you go to a nice new pizza joint and there are plenty of fine beer choices on deck, you want the Danish sample and then go for your trustworthy pint candidate. But with not samples, ticker OCD can kick in and you end up with this atrocious wreck of a beer. Malty and stuffed with corn, it might have worked better if advertised as liquefied caramel corn. Drizzle this shit on the crust of a specialty pie and you might have something.
1.8 Draft at Charlotte airport. Pours copper color with off white head, it has indistinct flavor of mild malt.
2.9 Tap at the CLT airport. Clear yellow gold pour with a spotty head. Very simple muted Oktoberfest elements. Not bad just not particularly good.
