Redchurch Bethnal Pale Ale

Redchurch Bethnal Pale Ale

Big bold and surprising

This is our interpretation of the classic pale ale. You’ll sense fresh fruit flavours with a rich caramel smoothness and a lasting bitterness on the finish. Brewed using the very best maris otter pale malt and an adventurous blend of American and New Zealand sourced hops. 5.5% abv

3.4 Bottle that Ash gave me - cheers mate! Hazy, slightly insipid deep gold with a thin white head and a pleasant frothy mouthfeel. Fresh, slightly tropical hop aroma. Tastes of marmalade, sweet spices, roasted brown bread and a little pine and caramel. Dryish finish, with a lasting bitterness that is maybe a little too robust for the flavours to cope with. A decent brew nevertheless.
3.5 First: Tap at Redchuch taproom in Bethnal Green 04/06/2017. Back then I rated it 3.4. Second: Tested on 330 ml bottle from HonestBrew on 17/10/2017. Aromas of tropical fruit, citrus and some dry grass notes. Hazy yellow body and big and fluffy, long-lasting white head. Taste is hoppy and bitter with strong citrus notes. Quite "dry" palate which is typical for Redchurch.
3.9 On tap at 2. Celler Bierfest. Comes with a dark, hazy amber color and a nice white head. The nose is fruity-sour: grapefruit-peel, citurs, resins, pine, hoppy. Taste is fruity-bitter: grapefruit-peel, orange-peel, less resin as expected, but a nice resin-bitter finish. Good on!
3.4 Bottle. Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of fruity, slight caramel, slight note of dishwasher. Light Bitter, fruity, a tad dusty, slight caramel. Sweet
3.6 En klassisk pale ale som smager meget fint sammen med en let frokost. Tilpas humlet.
2.5 Pours clear gold with a white head; citrus aroma with a hint of caramel, malt, and some floral notes; taste is citrus and caramel. Finish is dry and bitter with a touch of citrus
3.9 Bottle 330ml. Amber and hazy with a thin white head. Orange and grass in the aroma. Zesty and juicy with a pleasant zingy bitterness. This is goooood...
3.8 September 22, 2015 - at Earl of Essex - Keg draught. Hazy orange-gold with a smallish tightly creamy white head. Smells the thing - resin and lush low-level cereal grain - definitely "American" hop bitterness to my nose, light fruit and alcohol. Taste same, a little lemon sharpness, slightly different, less resin bitterness profile. Solid chewy body, airy and nicely carbonated, slightly long citrus zest/light grapefruit pith bitter finish - it doesn’t coat the palate, and it’s not trying to be an IPA - a solid APA for me.
3.4 Aroma: grapefruit, citrus and herbs. Appearance: hazy golden color and white head. Taste: medium herbal bitterness, grapefruit, herbs, slightly stalky, thin malty backbone, dry. Palate: low body and medium carbonation, bitter finish. Overall: Really nice PA.
3.1 Golden body with some haziness, small white head. Caramel malts, fruit, and resin aroma. Taste is sweet, pine, earthy, with some grapefruit and tropical notes. Medium carbonation, medium body.
2.6 In der Craftbeerbar Hannover gekostet. Ordentlich, aber nicht außergewöhnlich. ...
3.5 Tap@ahven. Golden. Good sweet oranges, grpaefruit way back, apricotty pale malty with a little caramels on nose. Med bodied, soft sweet, smooth palate. Golden honey, nice feeling. Bit dry astringent green fknish though. Fine beverage. Might be just over prime though. -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
3.7 Tap @ punavuoren Ahven. Redchurch tap takeover. Pours golden color with a thin white head. Aroma has citrus, zest, super fresh overall. Flavor has citrusy hops, floral notes, grapefruit. Medium bodied, very tasty, hoppy, fresh.
3.1 (Keg at Bier-Bier, 20170111) The beer poured golden and hazy. Its head was small and white. Aroma had sweetness, fruitiness and earth. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, sweetness, earth, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was fruity, sweet and bitter. A tasty English style brew.
3.5 Pours a hazy gold with thin white soapy head which clings to the glass. Rich aroma of smooth caramel, spruce and pine hops with peach and some citrus, pretty good! Taste is medium firm bitter with a nice clan sweetness. Mild carbonation and slightly creamy feel in the mouth. A fine pale ale!
3.7 Tap @Himmeriget, Cph. Pours light hazy golden with a small, staying creamy white head. Aroma has fresh resiny hops, grass, grapefruit, pine. Medium to low carbonation, fine dry and quite creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has sweet malts, light grainy, firm bitterness, resin, grapefruit, peach and pine. Fine.
3.5 From tap; orange with medium head; aroma is fruity, resinous, piney; taste follows the aroma, low sweetness, medium bitterness; creamy mouthfeel, average carbonation
3.5 Lukt: Citrus, karamell og en anelse parfyme. Utseende: Gulbrun. Skum/kullsyre: Dekkende skum. Smak: Citrus og karamell. Hvor: Kjøpt@Bakeri, London, Nydt@Tasting kveld med Untappd Jostein. Medium: Flaske@330ml, ABV@5,5%, Når@18.07.2016
2.2 Bottle. Pours a hazy golden beer with a big white, bubbly head on top. Aroma of tart, lactobasillicus, some infectious notes. Flavor is slightly sour and definitely off. Highly carbonated, short sour aftertaste. Not good.
2.7 Hazy golden amber with minimal head that quickly recedes. Strong citrus aromas - mandarin, some grapefruit, cracker like malt, a little papaya. The taste has a strong grassy hop bitterness that builds all the way to the mouth puckering finish, along with grapefruit, marmalade, crackers. Light bodied. Much more of an IPA but too much harsh character bitterness.
3.4 Bottled. Hazy orange colour with a small white head. Aroma is fruity and floral hops along with some sweet malts to it. Flavour is citrus, some floral notes as well as mild sweet malts to it. Nice floral and grassy finish. Easy to drink and a good session beer.
3.4 sample from bottle, poured a clear lighter amber colour with a off head. nose is quite sweet, slight caramel, sweet malts, orange, citrus, bitter tropical fruits, pine, orange peel, dry bitter aftertaste.
3.0 On tap at Cafe Sara, september 25th 2015. Golden body with a low white head. Aroma of biscuit, grass, spicy hops. Taste is sweet, mild fruity, with a grassy end. Strong bitterness comes through in finish, combined with a mild citrus note.
3.3 330mL bottle from International Beer Collector. BB11/07/16 Pours a somewhat murky orangey body with a ring of white foam persisting. Punchy nose to it - grassy, herby, lychee/tropical, citrusy hops in abundance, touch of caramel underneath. Full bodied, there’s some malt to chew on there, subdued carbonation. Hoppy body - resiny, grass, spicy, dank herbs & citrus, with an underpinning caramel malt body and great big WALLOP of grassy bitterness that lingers for eternity! Pretty good pale - that bitterness though!
4.0 Bottle from Hops & Crafts Exeter ,pours hazy dark orange, small tight white head, aroma of piney hop, pineapple , tangerine & caramel from the malt, the taste is piney hop upfront with grapefruit, caramel from the good malt base & bitter orange ,light to medium bodied ,good carbonation the finish is bitter, dry ,piney with Caramel & grapefruit. Interesting pale ale, more in the IPA style but still a very good beer!
3.5 Tap at Mother Kelly’s. Hazy blond colour. Caramel and piney. Tropical fruit notes. Light to medium body. Not bad.
3.8 200 ml. draft @ Billie’s Bier Kafétaria during the Redchurch Tap Takeover. Very hazy golden orange, small solid white head. Nose is pine, mango, tropical hops, strongly dry, low yeast. Taste is big dry grass hop profile, low tropical peach, hay, grass, tropical qualities are brief, light yeast, finish is long, dry, the more I drank it, the more I started getting an odd band-aid note which took this one down for me. Body is dry with band-aids. Decent, shame about the band-aid note. Still pleasant enough.
3.8 Tap @ Brewdog Soho. Pours orange-y with a small white head. Fruity aroma of hops. Taste is of malts, lots of lighter fruits like peach and hoppy citrus notes. Medium body and carbonation. Nice bitter finish. Very quenchable.
