Redhook Sunrye

Redhook Sunrye

Introducing Redhook Sunrye, a light, refreshing summer beer brewed with
six barley malts, including a touch of organic rye.
The opalescent golden color of Sunrye is a result of its unfiltered nature.
Light and crisp, this brew was made for slaking summer thirsts.

2.5 Clear yellow color with very thin white head. Light aroma of grain and fruitiness. Very light bodied with medium carbonation. Tastes of light malts, grains, grapefruit, lemon, orange and other fruit but kind of watery overall.
2.1 Gravicask, one-third pint. Slightly unclear golden body. Naked surface. Discreet aroma of lemony hops. Sweet fruit-grainy flavour. Thin and rather unvaried (GBBF, 05.08.2009).
3.1 A 12 oz bottle. The pour was a golden body with a swamp like lasting white head on top. The taste is malt, wheat and rye. The carbonation is good.
2.7 33 cl bottle, Winnipeg, MB, Canada via Fargo. Hazy pale golden colour, sweet flavor, nice bitterness with some malt and perhaps rye coming through. Pretty forgettable but drinkable nonetheless.
3.4 Cask at GBBF 09 .... amber ... light bright grapefruit hop nose ... bright hop resins ... lots of bright grapefruit
2.2 Bottle: refreshing ale. Drank while brewing the first batch of Red Ale. Food Pairing: Green Salad.
2.7 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Surprisingly smooth and clean considering the style and ingredients. Nice easy drinking summer beer.
3.1 This poured from the bottle to a light pale, just slightly hazy yellow, with thin white head that dissipated quickly to little lacing. Nose was faint but still caught a hint of honey, apples and lemony hops, with no alcohol (swhich at only 4.7% is not surprising. Mouthfeel is light and a tad on the thin side, and the taste carries over the fruits of the nose. Fairly long lasting, thrist quenching finish. Not a bad summer ale.
2.4 Bottle pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aroma is lightly spicy and grassy. Flavor is light citrus, grassy, grainy, and generally bland and unoffensive.
2.1 Bottle. Gold and a little hazy with little to no head. Meh, average offering I’d say.
3.3 Cask Conditioned Gravity Dispense GBBF 09. A clear golden coloured beer with a whitish head. The aroma is quite fruity and poppy with oranges and lemons. The taste is citric and poppy again. Easy drinking but not very beery really.
3.5 Cask@GBBF2009. Yellowish golden colour, small bubbly head. Aroma is nectar, fruits, alcohol (!) and rather sweet notes. Flavour is pineapple, mango, some grassyness as well. Very fruity and also has some slight vanillaish notes.
3.1 Cask@GBBF 2009. Bright yellow color, small white head. Strong tropical fruity (kiwi) aroma, also some fruit sugar. Light palate. Flavor has fruity sweetness, some tropical fruits (kiwi, apricot, pineapple). Aftertaste is short. This is basicly a good beer, just needs a bit more body. Reminds me about Beer Here’s Fat Cat a bit.
2.3 Bottle @GBBF ’09. Tastes of papaya sweeties. 78901234567890123456789012345 .
2.6 On tap in USA, Golden light brown with no head. slightly citrus taste with light smooth flavor. Nice light summer beer, but nothing special.
2.2 Pretty average summer beer here, with a rather misleading name of "Sunrye" ale. I couldn’t pick up any resemblance of rye in the flavor or aroma, but I assume it’s there. Aroma was extremely light, with a touch of grains. Golden yellow body with a non-existent head. Light grainy flavor matched the aroma without detracting at all. Void of any flaws or issues, but nearly void of any flavor or aroma. Drinkable, if not forgettable.
2.2 Experienced via draft in a pub glass. The beer pours a medium to light golden color, with a slight and quickly disappearing white head. The was really no discernable notes in the nose, unacceptable in even this lightly flavored and breezy beer style. The palate was without character, giving little, if any, hints of rye, and made almost insipid by the too-high carbonation. I do not argue with the idea of creating refreshing summer beers to combat the warm weather. I do however, take issue with crafting those offerings to be devoid of character. A loser.
2.7 golden yellow pour with a small white head (the lack head is due to the rye content and is normal). aroma of citrus taste of fruits (complex esters) well balanced. i have no problems with this beer!
2.1 Cloudy yellow. Vanishing white head. Cardboard & skunk in the aroma. Nothing to the flavor at all. Blah.
2.0 Bottle... Poured pale golden with a white head that dissipated immediately. This is a god awful beer. Overly sweet, grainy aroma and the flavor wasn’t much different. Tasted like something Bud would produce. I guest it would be a good session but I would avoid this one.
2.1 No head looks like a pale lager. Barely any smell. Taste? What taste? There is barely any taste in this beer at all. Easy to drink, but not exciting in any sense of the word. Some rye flavors, and less hops than Bud Light.
3.5 Pouring a hazy medium gold colour and a large foamy white head, this one came with a sweet, hoppy aroma, the rye perhaps? Taste was smooth and clean. I could knock down a LOT of these on a hot day (just to keep myself hydrated, of course).
3.1 A decent rye beer. I’m partial to rye beers (and rye whiskey), so I enjoyed its soft, banana like rye aroma and sweet, nutty and bready flavor. This is not a bad choice if you can find it at a decent price.
2.5 Overall Impression: A pretty typical summer ale, not a whole lot of exciting flavors in this one, probably best for outside/hot day/quick drinking consumption.
2.1 Draft at Brick House in Davidson. blah. Rye is nowhere to be found, as far as I can tell. Just another weak "summer ale." Promptly switched to Highland Gaelic after this.
2.4 12oz Bottle. The pour was a clear light amber with just a trace (almost none) of a white frizzy head that virtually was gone in a second or two and produced no lacing to speak of. The aroma was very faint of a light grain malt, a faint odor of some grassy hops and a mild earthy yeast with a hint of rye and maybe a little citrus (lemon). Taste was pretty bland yet quite crisp with a slight malty feel and a mild hint of rye, but not much else. The flavor faded from the taste buds almost immediately following the swallow. Mouthfeel was extremely light in body with a watery texture and a light carbonation. Overall this was a extremely light beer with a very light flavor and a mild carbonation. That being said it did possess a good smooth and easy drinkability and is ok if what your looking for, is a light beer with a low ABV…
2.3 Slightly cloudy golden yellow color with almost no head to speak of. Aroma of sweet malt. Taste is a little dry and grainy with a hint of hops. Pretty average.
2.2 12oz bottle. Pours a very clear golden with huge fizzy soda bubbles and basically no head. Aroma of vanilla and very light honey sweetness. Flavor follows with slightly more depth than the aroma, vanilla, glassy hard candy taste, plain-jane, a bit sweet and just a tad tart. Medium/light bodied, almost a hard-candy feel, big fluffy soda carbonation.
2.7 Pours clear golden with a wispy white head of light retention and sudsy lace. The nose is spot on for silage corn and grain. Flavors are somewhat of corn, with light sour grains mid-palate. The "touch of rye" is just that, showing up in the finish. Lightly hopped, this summer brew goes down very easily with a soda mouthfeel. Not anything jaw-dropping going on here, but makes a nice first impression in 90-degree summer sun by the pool.
2.5 Pretty drinkable, but uninspiring. Dark straw color with very little head. Sam Adams Summer Ale is much superior flavor wise.
