Resignation / Redhook KCCO Black Lager

Resignation / Redhook KCCO Black Lager

A Resignation Recipe Brewed In Collaboration with Redhook. A toast lager with notes of chocolate and coffee. Unlike a heavy porter or a stout it’s amazingly light, crispy, and sessionable. KCCO Black is a delicious misfit.

3.4 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a softly carbonated semi-opaque dark ruby red brown colored body and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was mild hop. The semi-flat crisp mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish with a medium dark malt aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of semi-sweet black malt mild lager and bread dough. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.
3.2 Pour is a light black with little head. Aroma is a nice bitter malt with grass and hop. Taste is crisp yet a malt back. Finish is clean. Very good lager.
4.1 Bottle. Pours dark brown with no head. Great coffee aroma. I was expecting a darker beer for a black lager. This seems more like a brown ale to me. The taste is great though, coffee, chocolate, and nutty. I only have one bottle, wish I had more.
2.7 Bottle. Pours a true cola colour, fluffy off white khaki head, dare amount of lacing. Nose is malty, but not roast. Tastes malty, sweet, a little bitter but not much, sugary. A little thin.
2.9 Coffee/roasted barley aroma, with caramel sweetness and subtle fruit. Light flavor; roasted character is less prominent than in the aroma. Some tart green apple comes through in the finish. Mild but weird bitter aftertaste. Seems pretty flat, and the mouthfeel is thin and astringent.
3.4 pours cola brown with a smallish tan head. Aroma is malty. Taste is toasty, like a nut brown. coffee notes. Pleasant semi sweet finish. Good beer.
3.7 Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Has a hop and garden aroma. Appearance- A dark brown to black color with a nice sized light brown head. Taste- Has a nice hop flavor. Palate- A medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation. Overall- First beer from Resignation Brewery and it wasn’t bad. I would drink this again and search for other styles from this brewer.
3.1 Aroma caramel, chocolate, coffee, roasty, Appearance red, brown, clear, minimal head, Taste light sweetness, medium sweetness, Palate medium body, thin feel, soft carbonation, Overall a watery dark beer that I would not suggest to a friend
2.3 Bottle at recent beer festival. Pours brown with a white head. Nose is some ash, some earth, big yeast, and some light black coffee. Flavor is similar- ash, black coffee, earth, and yeast. Light in body and pretty forgettable overall.
4.0 Nice flavor with dark brown color has smooth mellow taste with no significant bitterness. Reminds me of Tusker a Kenyan lager common in East African bars. Overall a nice Black Lager despite the low rating.
2.4 Aan de geur is iets vreemds aan. Maar dat is niet terug te vinden in de smaak. De smaak is redelijk flets. Zeker niet slecht, maar er zit niet veel bijzonders aan de smaak.
3.7 Appealing purple color, garnet tinted brown kinda. Smallish head. Fairly accurate and typical schwarzbier, light chocolate/coffee nose, faint caramel-malt sweet smell. Flavor is semi-dry, with that nice dry cocoa finish, light nuttiness and a bit of cereal grain. No roast.
2.3 Better than its gimmickyness would suggest, but still very middle of the road. Pours dark brown with thin head. Nose is dry stout like with mild vanilla and butterscotch. Flavor is one dimensional but not bad - some instant coffee and bittersweet baking chocolate. I got at 9.99/24 bottles closeout a few months after I saw it debut at 8.99/6 pack. I think the price I got is a little closer to the right price than the SRP.
3.1 Picked up a 12oz bottle at Fresh Thyme Market in Cincinnati, Ohio. Pours a translucent, dark rootbeer color, with a thin head. A faint aroma of sweet coffee. Flavors also of roasty coffee and sweet, diet-cola-like notes...aftertaste is light and smoky, with savory undertones that remind me of bacon. Body seems pretty light (as you would expect from a dark lager), with fizzy carbonation. This is not amazing, but not bad either. Drinkable and fairly interesting.
3.4 12oz bottle. Poured a dark, cola color with a small, foamy white head. Aroma was light chocolate, some light sweet malts. Flavor was some crisp lager notes, light chocolate.
4.0 Gifted to me by my friend John Brockhaus - This is a fine, grainy schwarznier with an upfront burnt caramel prescence. I like this brew, and I thank my Cincinnati pal John for gifting it to me!
3.7 Very dark mahogany pour with thin, light tan head. Sweet & lightly toasted flavor with a super smooth mouth feel. Very good and closely resembles a sweet stout.
3.4 Bottle into stout glass. Not much aroma. Dark ruby black w thick pale head. Malty caramel dominates w not much of a hop profile. Hints of leather. Slight charcoal aftertaste. Light easy drinking black beer.
2.5 Bottle sample at Top of the Hops Biloxi. Clear amber color, tan head. Aroma of cocoa. Taste is light toast.
3.0 Pretty decent schwarz beer. Light bodied.. But some nice fruity and coffee notes going on in the flavor and aromas. Decent.
3.1 Bottle. Chocolate and cola type aroma. Deep mahogany with a small tan head. Toasty malt and light chocolate flavor. Light body, lively carbonation.
3.9 Pours a dark chocolate in color wi th minimal head. Aroma of roasted malts. Taste us chocolate malty sweet but finish leaves hints of oak on palate.
3.2 Clear deep mahogany with an off white head. Aroma roasty, toasty, sweet, with hints of fruit. Taste roasty and light, with sweet and toasty notes towards end of palate. Nice and fairly easy drinking.
3.1 This is actually tasty. Mellow creaminess to it. Dark. Nice maltiness. Light n crispy. Sessionable body.
3.0 Bottled. Dark pour and roasted malts are predominant. Bit of chocolate. Clean finish. OK.
3.0 Faint cocoa and coffee aroma. Lifeless black color w/ decent head. Mouthfeel is thin.. bitter, taste is simple and same as aroma.. dark chocolate and coffee. Its not bad.
3.5 12 oz bottle from Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh. This would have been much better with a heavier body and a more defined taste. Things seemed a bit diluted.
4.0 Nice lager, but not an everyday beer. It has the taste of a good lager, but the aftertaste is a little heavy on a cereal grainy side. Did not get a chance to pour to notice color or head. Not a bad beer.
1.9 This is a great beer to have a couple of but not something to make your drink for the night. After 4 I ended up with a headache but this is my go to beer for a hearty dinner.
3.8 12 oz bottle from BevMo. Opaque, dark caramel color with beige head. Aroma is burnt grains and mild chocolate. Taste is malty, roasted grains, earthy with hints of coffee. No bitterness. Palate is light-bodied, slightly thin with a dry finish. Light, clean and refreshing as advertised. Easy drinking.
