Revolution A Little Crazy

Revolution A Little Crazy

A citrusy and refreshing Belgian-style pale ale hopped with Cascade, Citra, and whole Crystal hops for massive aromas and flavors! Fermented with our Belgian Wit yeast for an extra dose of complexity, this one is very drinkable and extremely aromatic.

Per Wil Turner, this is a second runnings beer from Institutionalized Barleywine’s runoff.

3.5 This canned brew from a bottle shop was served at a cool temperature and poured a head of foamy fine to medium sized white colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a typically carbonated body semi-transparent orange colored body and a good lacing. The mild aroma was musty and mild hop. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a medium hoppy aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of mildly bitter mild citrus mild hops and malt. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.
2.9 Clear medium golden color. Interesting aroma, has some sourish notes as well as a touch of wit, with banana & cloves. An odd mesh of flavors, sweet malts up front, followed by the tangy wit flavor with a crisp bitter follow. Too busy for me, a beer that isn’t sure what style it is, tries to be a few at once and doesn’t quite nail any of them.
3.6 Nice golden color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of yeast, rich floral hops, & some citrus; Flavor of malt, yeast, nice hops, citrus, and some fruit; Nicely balanced; Surprised by this one - pretty decent.
4.3 Single 12floz can (COD 12.13.2017, $1.50/unit), tulip glass. This is a great looking Belgian pale ale; deep golden haze and a sticky frothy white head. Old World yeast and New World hops compose a floral, soft citrus, and citrus zest aroma. Palate presents greats balance, and feels lighter than its 6.8% ABV. A very good all purpose beer with mild funk, pummelo, toasted bread flavors.
3.9 Pours a crystal clear yellow with a white foamy head. Great lacing left on the small 5oz glass. Tasted at Yard House outside of Chicago Aroma is light and fruity with a sweet passion fruit note. Taste is lightly sweet with a mango note to it. Being a wheat beer, it doesn’t come with tremendous hoppiness. Instead its nicely offset. Smooth and refreshing - reminds me of Pyramid Apricot Wheat
3.4 Pour is a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma is like candied peaches. All candi sugar and peaches. Flavor is fruity with more peach and some elderflower herbal-ness. A little dash of coriander or orange peel would really make this great. It is fine as it is though, plenty fruity and refreshing.
3.9 Canned 01/16/17. The appearance is a medium sized fizzy white head that mostly diminished, transparent gold body, lively, fast rising carbonation observed, and spotty lacing. The aroma is citrus hops, tropical fruit, grapefruit, juicy, spicy, yeast, and malt. The flavor presents moderate bitterness, citrus hops, tropical fruit, grapefruit, yeast, lightly sweet, and malt. The mouthfeel is light-moderate carbonation and this beer is light-medium bodied. A very good tasting beer for its style. It has a very good hoppy taste to it that leaves me interested in drinking this again. It is well brewed and I look forward to rating more of their beers.
3.8 Can from City Hops. Deep hazed golden one finger head. Nose is tropical fruit and Belgian yeast. Tastes of bubblegum, peach, banana, yeasty, and cloves. Creamy palate easy drinking. Semi sweet.
3.6 This is a Belgian IPA. Pours a hazy golden with a taller rocky eggshell foam that leaves a stringy collar of lace. Nose involves spicy yeast and citrus, florals (lilac), musty cobweb, passion fruit, and lightly toasted malt. Fairly sweet, decently bitter. Medium bodied, oily, drying leafiness, active, vaguely juicy, with a drying bitter hop and yeasty finish. It’s not bad, but it’s too hoppy. I would have liked to see more "Belgian Ale" and less "IPA" here.
4.1 12 ounce can from Valli Produce in Rockford, IL, consumed a little too cold from a Duvel glass. Pours a bright, slightly oily gold-amber with a huge glass-filling bubbly white meringue head that decays very slowly and laces thickly...gorgeous fruity-herbal nose, mangos soaked in tarragon and thyme, with a bit of that Wit bubblegum and baking spice character, a bit of banana, a hint of coriander, intoxicating and almost perfume-like...on the tongue a lovely balance is noted immediately, a reasonably strong sweetness appears but the yeasty undertones and the light but forceful citrusy hops alongside a nice bit of burnt and toasty malt gives this an interesting and somewhat unexpected complexity; there’s also a touch of German wheat character here, and if there’s a flaw it’s that on the finish the bitterness is a bit acrid and unpleasant at first, though this largely dissipates when you let it warm to near room temp. The carbonation is strong and tingly, and the body is quite full, hefty even, but just misses out on having a bloating feeling and isn’t in the least syrupy. This has become one of my go-to beers over the past few weeks and I’m on about my 4th six-pack; easily the best beer I’ve had from this brewery so far and one of the best everyday-drinking Beligan styled ales available here.
3.4 Draught @ Malt and Mold. Slightly cloudy golden with small foamy off-white head, faint vanilla aroma, medium carbonation, medium bitter hoppy taste with little Belgian yeast characteristics, thin body, longish medium bitter finish. Nice brew, hops obliterate the Belgian a bit.
3.6 A nice and well balanced Belgian. Good malty backbone. Nice hops throughout. Alcohol is well masked, comes through just a bit.
3.3 Draft at Winking lizard Macedonia. Foamy white head. Smell the hops Easy to drink Softe on palate, no after bite Overall this is a very drinkable brew
4.4 Really good; one of the best Belgian IPAs I’ve had. Clear dark amber color, cream colored relatively long lasting head and some lace. Aroma is malt and fresh hops. Flavor is a perfect blend of malt fresh Hops bitterness a little bit of sweetness and carbonic tang.
3.8 Can from Milk and Hops, Chelsea. Pours an unclear golden color with a frothy head and medium lace. Citrus, orange, and pepper. Wheat, clove. Some resiny notes, grass, peach, and a bit of dough. Tingly, spicy mouthfeel, fairly dry on the close. Pretty nice.
3.2 Aroma is pine and tropical fruit. Pours clear yellow. well ballanced with a malty sweet finish.
3.5 At Heathers. Aroma tang of pine malt. Taste of citrus and brown sugar. A hint of citrus rind. A hoppy finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
4.2 Beautiful hoppy aroma yet still getting the Belgian wit yeast of the peppery/lemony smell. Appearance is slightly hazy with a yellow/golden color. Average/low head retention. Medium carbonation, heavier body than most pale ales. Hops linger but not overpowering. A nice balance between the complex yeast and the hops. A very enjoyable beer. Usually skeptical with a hop forward Belgian style ale. This was well made.
3.6 Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a mild burnt golden orange color with a thin finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a nice even pace. Mild lacing sticks in rings. The aroma balances nicely between some white pepper, Belgian bready malts, and some sweet citrus. The flavor initially yields to the bready sweetness and then entices the citrus and white pepper for a nice balance. Some floral dry sweetness in underneath. Gently folds the sweet floral over the bready malts in the aftertaste and rolls into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Moderate carbonation. Some stickiness, but not cloying. Overall, good Belgian pale ale that I would have again.
3.7 Non Beer Trip Beer Trip Beer #38. 12 ounce can. Clear amber, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of grapefruit, yeast, pale malt. The taste is tropical fruit, grapefruit, yeast, pale malt. Medium bodied.
3.7 Can pour - Deep red amber; clear - very thick light tan head that might last through the apocalypse. Nose is hop forward - messy in some ways, but I think its the belgian yeast coming over the top of the citra hops...took me a bit to warm up to this, but once I did, the spiciness, which is notable, makes it complex and intriguing. Flavor plays back and forth between spicy, bready yeast and grassy/citrus hops, some fruit esters in here as well - sweet and bitter are both evident, but sweet wins out - mild bitterness on the finish. Palate seems appropriate for the style. Enjoyable beer - continue to enjoy most everything I try from Rev...
3.7 Really hoppy and flavorful. Easy to drink. Slight citrus flavors. Liked it quite a bit.
3.8 Draft to taster at Cappy’s pour avg gold/orange with thin white head. Nosebig juicy fruit hop, belgian ester, banana, sweet fruit. Taste light bitter followed by bittering hop, belgian candi sugar, floral, ester, and light spice. Finish mix of spice and bitter.
3.0 Can at home. Pours a clear copper with lasting white head and good lacing. Aroma is bananas and Belgian. Somewhat hoppy taste but eaten up by Belgian yeast and bananas. Really disappointing as Belgian yeast dominates this beer. The hop profile isn’t there.
3.8 Pours a dark amber with a thick head and lots of lacing. Aroma is of resin with some spice. Taste is hoppy but not bitter, follows the aroma. Overall a pretty good beer
3.7 Deep reddish brown. Nose of fruit, catty pine and spicy Belgian yeast. Flavor is biscuity toasted malt with BelgIan spice and more catty pine with grapefruit.
Aroma of orange, melon, fruit. Flavor of citrus, lemon, pine, caramel, fruit. Quite bitter, with a burnt malt backbone.
3.6 Can. Pours orange with thick off-white head. Fruity yeast aroma with citrus notes. Citrus hops with banana notes with a hint of cherry. Crisp, hoppy finish with fruity yeast notes.
3.9 Can. Hazy golden with a lasting white head. Piney and spicy with lightly sweet malts and little bitterness. Very good!
