Revolution Citra-Hero

Revolution Citra-Hero

Citra Hero is an elegant American IPA designed to showcase the Citra Hop variety.

We utilized 2-row, Pale Ale, Red Wheat and Belgian Aromatic malts to provide a deep golden color and clean malt profile for this hoppy ale. Multiple additions of Citra in the brew kettle infuse this beer with deep layers of citrus aroma and flavor and a clean, crisp yet intense bitterness.

After primary fermentation with our English Ale Yeast we dry-hopped with one pound per barrel of Citra once again to really load this ale up with a burst of fresh citrus fruit.

Weighing in at 7.5% ABV, this ale is sturdy enough to hold up to the higher bitterness level but is still quite sessionable and exploding with fresh hop character!

3.9 Clear gold with thin Lacy white head Aroma is of pineapple and coconut dank hop Flava is dank hop bitter Feels medium and foamy Finishes moderately bitter
3.7 strong citrus aromas. gold and clear in color with nice long lasting head. taste is citrusy with notes of pine and resin, faint tropical fruit
3.2 Can shared with Dallas. Pours a clear golden body with thin white lacing. Nose is dank citra and soft fruit. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with dull, rotten fruit flavor, light sugar and sweet malt.
3.7 Dark golden to amber in color. Diminished off-white head. Citra scents, with grapefruit and mild resin and pine. Sweet ruby red grapefruit/blood orange flavors in the start. Tasty citra, but somehow one-dimensional, but not necessarily in a bad way. A hops-head brew.
3.3 12oz can from Xroads. Poured a great looking medium to fuller body deep orange with an average sized tight creamy off white head. Aroma of English yeast, dry orange candy, dust, grains, bread. Flavor is similar with a big nod towards the English yeast strain which really drags this beer down and dries it out. When I want a big 7.5% IPA I DON’T WANT AN ENGLISH YEAST STRAIN!!!!
4.1 Nice clean hop nose, with a ton of citrus character. Pours a clear amber with a thin white head. There’s a touch of caramel and biscuit notes, which then go to a big blast of citrus which fades out to a lingering bitterness. Full bodied, with a touch of slickness in the mouthfeel. A great example of the American IPA style.
4.3 12 oz. can from Revolution Brewing, Chicago (canned July 3, 2017). Thanks Abe! Dark orange pour with a frothy off-white head. Pleasant hoppy aroma of citrus and pine with a touch or Earthiness. Nice hop-forward taste with tangerine, soft grapefruit, roses, and pine needles. Finishes bitter but fades rather quickly. Very well done!
3.5 Rated on 7-16-017. Can filled 06/05/17. The appearance is a medium sized off-white head that mostly diminishes, golden transparent body, lively, fast rising carbonation observed, and spotty lacing. The aroma presents citrus hops, tropical fruit, grapefruit, spicy, earthy, floral, and malt. The flavor is moderately bitter, citrus hops, tropical fruit, spicy, grapefruit, moderately sweet, malt, and a dry finish. The mouthfeel is moderate carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. There is a bitter aftertaste to this beer. It is easy drinking for the style and it is worth trying. This is a beer that I would drink again.
3.5 Bought in a can from urban barley. Pours clear amber with a tiny bit of haze. Fluffy white head dissipates quickly and leaves mild lacing. Not a ton going on with the nose. Generic citrus fruit and honey with some grass. Flavor follows for the most part. Decently strong malt backbone. Sweet grapefruit at first blooming into a bitter pithy finish. Noticeable booziness. Decent.
4.5 Tap at brewery in Chicago during glbtq. Hazy dark yellow with thick white head and good lacing. Strong citrus aroma. Smooth body, clean sharp hop bite. Perfect balance. Bright. Excellent.
3.7 Sampled at 777th Criderfest in a Willybecher glass, a mostly clear golden amber colour with beige foam. Nice supportive maltbill with some bready and biscuity complexity, with predictable Citra hop bitterness, flavour and aroma: lemongrass, citrus zest, basil, resin. Light-medium body, smooth round mouthfeel, moderate carbonation, well-concealed alcohol, lingering hoppy aftertaste. A particularly good A-IPA.
3.9 At the Brewery In Chicago. Aroma of citrus hops. Pours dark yellow. Hops build in the middle to a citrus tang that lingers. Crisp individual hop flavor throughout ---Rated via Beer Buddy
4.0 Draft pour at brewery, light golden pour thin head, citrus hop aroma. Very smooth citrus, and crisp drinking beer.
3.9 12 oz can. Pours a hazy gold with no head. Aroma of bitter grapefruit and malt. Taste is bitter and malty, lots of citrus. Very crisp and citrusy, really nice.
3.5 Opaque orange-brown pour, nice white head. Huge citrusy aroma, flavor of lemon, spice, burnt caramel. A bit thin and astringent.
3.7 Bottled. Pours slightly hazy amber with an average off-white head. Aroma of citrus, tropicalfruit notes, peach an caramel. Sweet flavor that ends up being dry and bitter. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A very nice IPA indeed. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
3.5 Bright hop aroma, hazy cooper oarange pour with lingering foamy white head. Very tasty but finishes bitter. Would be better with a lighter palate
3.9 Tap. Pours clear golden to amber with a lasting off white head. Aromas of citrus and pine. Flavours of grapefruit, malt, floral, orange and pine. Oily texture. Medium to heavy bitterness. Great stuff!
3.6 Can from World Beer Market (Sake no Taniguchi). Fat Citra nose, a bit spicy and cat pissy. Hazy copper color. Thick malt for a microsecond and then the Citra kicks in hard, dominating the rest of the way. Thin-medium body. Nice enough, but the Citra is pretty much the whole thing.
3.5 Can. Crisp lemon nose, Citra hops, a bit soapy. Glowing orange-golden color, hazy. Sweet and lemony with nice Citra coming through and an oily palate.
1.4 IPA in a can. Smells like ruff IPA, with no volatile BO tho. Cloudy IPA look with a thin creamy head. Big strong citrusy IPA punch in the face. Over the top and rototiller down the back of my throat. What else fricken can be said? Terribly terrible and rudely on style, could pass as an impy. This gets a 10 out of 10 for nasty nellie-ship Whew! Such a palate wrecker. If you like IPA, you need to experience this happy hoppy BS!!
3.5 Aroma is grapefruity and hoppy with a slight spice tone. Good punch from the Citra. Taste is sweeter than I expected, a medium malty body that carry the fruiter tones well. Sweet pineapple, mango and slight citrus oily. A little more down to earth than I expected, but never the less a great beer.
3.7 Hazy, brown-gold pour with a white head. The aroma is citra hop dominated with grain backbone. It has a medium body with oily texture and lively carbonation. The taste is mildly bitter with a sweeter finish.clove,
4.0 At Smokey Bones Mt. Prospect. Another big hoppy citra IPA. Decent stuff. Serving: Tap
3.9 on tap at Arlen & Harlow in Cambridge. Dark orange with a firm head, light citrus, somewhat crispy with a balanced finish. Nice
3.3 Tap at the source. Pours pale yellow, white head. Aroma is pine, orange, kind of dank, hard to put my finger on, but sort of chemical-y, almost like kitty litter? Not entirely unpleasant. Flavor is caramel, orange, slight pepper note? Again, not easy to describe and not what I would call a classic Citra bomb. Definitely pine, and pretty decent overall.
3.7 light Amber color. Tons of citra hop and pale malt. Sweet malty mouth with decent citra notes. Modest bitterness. Malt focused . Good stuff
3.6 Nice aroma of fresh tropical fruit, some pineapple, as well as fresh cut floral notes. Nice deep yellow color with a frothy tan head....hangs a while. Sweet up front, huge fruity flavors. Almost a bit too sweet, but the bitterness cuts in nicely not too long after initial sip. Bitterness is smooth. Very drinkable, light refreshing mouth feel. Finish is well balanced,
4.0 Pours a clear light golden color with a very nice head and lacing. Smell is orange juice and hoppy with pine and tropical notes. Taste dank and tropical with pineapple, tangerine grapefruit and mango and finishes with some orange rind bitterness. Mouthfeel is semi crisp with a medium body and prickles carbonation. Nice display of Citra hops with a bit more yeast and malt character than some other IPAs that feature this hop.
4.3 Can. Nose is powerfully (room-filling) tropical, rind and peel, with a little wheat lingering under the stop notes. Pour is hazy golden-orange with average carbonation and a rocky beige head, but the glass glows. Taste strongly bitter but not excessively so, heavily perfumed and oily, full body but soft and approachable, outstanding hop flavor with heavy Citra and some lesser Centennial tendencies (just a guess), fresh and open, clean but with a little alcohol/booziness coming through. Strong wheat with a dash of pine and paper, heaviest passionfruit and mango, and there’s some good malty texture but not too much in terms of depth. Packs such a hop wallop that I need to break up the session somewhat; just when I complained of endless Citra features, I come across this and find religion. Outstanding. [2016.09.04: 4.3]
