Revolution Double Fist

Revolution Double Fist

A Double Pale Ale with juicy citrus hop flavor from Centennial, Cascade, Amarillo and Chinook hops. We started with the idea of doubling-down on our Iron Fist pale ale recipe, made a few tweaks and ended up with this great beer. Although the name says otherwise, we recommend one at time.

3.8 Toffee aroma with citrus hops. Pretty big mouthfeel and caramel with nice hop balance. Nice lingering flavors of malts and hops.
4.1 On tap at Revolution. Pours light smber with a thick beige head and a toffee and citrus aroma. There is a super full-bodied caramel malt flavor with lotsof citrus bitterness.
3.7 Vg dipa. on tap at the brewery. Really gpod hop complexity. Dipa-strong. Lace.
4.0 Served on tap at Revolution Brewing. Red color with a white head. Hops aroma. Medium heavy body. Very smooth. Hops malt melon citrus flavor.
3.4 Draft. Pours orange amber with an off white head. Mild citric hops, light sweet malts, mild bitterness, and a relatively balanced finish. Decent.
3.6 Tap, amber pour white head, nose and taste are super hoppy, caramel, strong citrus wow
4.0 Look: pours a dark orange. Off white head. Very clear. Smell: citrus fruit, tropical fruit. Sweet oranges. Grapefruit. Mango. Passion fruit. Sweet candied oranges. Taste: grapefruit. Oranges. Mango. Passion fruit. Feel: medium carbonation. Not as dry as I expected for a IIPA. Overall: nice beer very sneaky for the style. First drank: home 4/19/15 Vintage:
4.0 ダブルペールエール にがくてあまくて、香る
3.6 A very tasty IPA with rich malty notes and mildly bitter hoppiness. Pours a dark golden with a thick head.
4.0 22 oz Bottle. Tasted on 3/19/15. Bottle from West Lakeview Liquor. Aroma is strong with tropical & light citrus notes. Taste is smooth & well balanced with a nice hop bite. Nice overall.
3.0 On tap, pours a clear dark amber red with an off white head and lacing in the glass, aroma has a slight citrus touch but also has a nice sweetness of malt and caramel as well, flavor has more malt and caramel than I was expecting, hops don’t really show, kind of sweet and boozy, really meh.
3.7 On tap at the brewpub. Nice beer. Clean, easy to drink....lots of hops but not overly killer. Nice use of not-super-overpowering hops.
3.0 Revolution calls this a doulbe pale ale, which apparently means it’s a IIPA that’s a little too sweet, which is too bad since this does have a very nice hop character to it. It is an amber orange beer w/ a foamy head and patchy lacing. It smell of sweet oranges and melon w/ just a hint of some savory pine notes in the background. This is a little bit sweet and full-bodied, which makes it come off as a bit heavy which doesn’t really work for me for hoppy beers. The sweetness does serve to bring out some additional juicy citrus character and richer, woodier pine notes so it’s not all bad but overall but I think this beer would be improved quite a lot by being somewhat more dry. .
3.8 Draft at Revolution Brewing. Pours a clear dark golden color witha small off white head. The aroma and flavor have resiny, grapefruit hops, toasted bread, caramel, solid drinking dipa, not the biggest, not more than moderate bitterness, but good.
3.5 5oz pour at the Revolution brew pub pours a clear, dark orange with some lacing, white head. Nose has gobs of pine sap, pithy citrus, some candy, a little honey comb. Flavor follows, sticky orange juice, some honey comb, loads of pine, soapy. Big, sticky, bitter finish.
4.1 Orange/ amber body, loaded with juicy orange and grapefruit citrus that picks top a hint of a caramel note, finishing with well-intergrated, spicy hops. Finish lingers long with the large abv hidden with precision. Arguably the best single offering from this up and coming brewery.
4.2 Hazy medium body. Big floral hop aroma. Taste is a dry resin with a good amount of pineapple. Ended up bringing a bottle of this home since it was pretty good.
3.0 Julie give a 1 she saw it taste of all his and is not the light colored drink she wants to put in her mouth
3.5 65cl, at 8%Vol, new American brew Anno 2010, thx alot to Secret Santa!, complex bitter brew, heavily malty/bitter/sweet and slightly fruity/woody, balanced, hazy, good head, good brew
4.0 Location: Draft at the Milwaukee Ave Brewpub, 7/16/14 Aroma: The aroma is pine/resin, citrus hops, orange, grapefruit, and a little of bready malt Appearance: It pours a clear amber-orange color with a small head and light lace Flavor: The taste is fairly bitter, citrusy, with a light malty sweetness, and a bitter close Palate: The body is medium-plus, mildly sticky on the mouth, and it finishes pretty dry Overall Impression: This is a good citrus flavored DIPA, with a nice bitterness to it. Another one from my trip to Revolution that I thuroughly enjoyed.
3.9 22 oz. bomber poured. Excellent pale ale that is really more like an IPA. Not as citrusy as its description says.
3.7 Bomber from Giant Eagle Market in UA. Copper-brown pour with a big fluffy light tan head and spotty lacing. Aroma is toasty, tropical fruit, herbal, caramel and orange peel - lots going on, nice smell. Taste is caramel and orange peel with floral, pine, spice. Get a tea vibe too. Lingering pine bitter finish. Something just keeps this from being great - little thin and watery on the palate maybe. Very good though.
3.8 Copper with a thin head. Smell is very strong -- bubblegum, caramel, biscuit. First flavors are citrus, grapefruit peel, moderate bitterness, caramel biscuit flavor. More like a DIPA than a pale ale.
4.2 Pours cloudy deep amber with low white head. Aroma of resin, grapefruit, mango, toffee. Taste is big resin hoppy bitter with nice balancing malty sweet. Body is medium to rich, creamy, with soft carbonation.
4.0 When asked, "what do you think of this beer?", a fellow beer advocate states... "Ummmm... I liiikke it." But in the vein of full disclosure, his eyebrow was raised in what appeared to be an uncomfortable posture and his voice mirrored the pubescent innocence of Peter Brady. So, logic dictates that his body language doesn't quite mimic his verbal review. Having said that, I agree because I feel this beer has strong drinkability and an awesome label and I really want to like it a lot. In conclusion, you should drink it. It makes your friends raise their eyebrows.
3.1 Tap @ Revolution: Pours a clean & deep, burnt amber color with no fulfilling head, just a moderate, off-white collar around the edge. Aroma is much more mild than expected. Vague fruitiness with some caramel & Munich-like malt sweetness. Hard to pull much from the hops, here. Taste is pretty sweet, lots of caramel malt, toast, & an almost saccharine sweetness backing up the tropical fruit essence of the hops. Mild floral notes & a touch of oily hops lead into a sticky, pine laden finish, Aftertaste of some sticky tropical fruits backed by a lasting caramel malt sweetness. Nose is a little underwhelming & overall it’s a bit sweeter than I prefer my DIPAs with a little too much caramel presence. Not bad by any means, but also not my favorite.
3.6 On tap @ Revolution. Amber pour with a small white head. Nose is a bit malty with some bread and a bit of caramel. Lots of orange, some grapefruit, and a bit of pine. Light bitterness to the flavor. Some pine, grapefruit, and orange peel. Lots of peach and bready sweetness. Fair amount of caramel and toast, as well.
3.9 great beer.had on tap. the first beer i have had from revolution.doing from memeory. lots of citrus hops very balanced . a joy to drink
4.1 22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 1/15/2014. Pours fairly crystal clear deep orange copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, pineapple, mango, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, caramel, toast, bread, and floral/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of juicy citrus/tropical hops and dark/bready malt sweetness; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, pineapple, mango, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, caramel, toast, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, pineapple, mango, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, caramel, toast, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and balance of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth and fairly creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent imperial pale ale. All around great complexity and balance of juicy citrus/tropical hops and dark/bready malt sweetness; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
3.7 Bottle pour dark brownish copper. Nose nice pine, mango, and sweet malt. Taste citrus bite front folloewd by high bitterness. Not as many of the hop flavors come through in the taste as they do the nose. Bitterness lasts throughout the mid and late palate and thorough a long finish. Some caramel malt late.
