Revolution Eugene

Revolution Eugene

A striking, robust porter full of warmth and chocolate malt. Eugene is a robust porter named after Eugene V. Debs, an American union leader and activist who led the Pullman Railroad strike in 1894. An assortment of Belgian specialty malts form a complex structure of toasted grain and caramel flavors. Dark chocolate malt makes this porter black as night and infuses it with its distinct intense, chocolate essence.

3.0 12 oz can bought in Boston, MA. Clear dark mahogany pour with a light brown head and very good retention. Decent lacing. Medium body. Molasses flavor dominates with some bitter dark chocolate notes. Eh. 6.8 ABV is well hidden.
2.6 12floz can, COD: 07.11.2017, $1.75 unit cost, pint glass. The aroma presents a twang on the usual dark roastedness one expects from a porter. As far as far appearance goes its a dark brown with a head that quickly recedes to a ring. Leathery, slick with molasses taste and a finish that sticks to the back roof of my mouth. It's not bad, but I enjoy many other porters more.
4.0 12 oz can. A deep dark mahogany color with a big toasty brown head. Aroma of coffee, nuts, earth, leather, vanilla, and root vegetables. Some earthy bitterness, molasses, unsweetened chocolate, and roasty flavors. A bit on the heavier side with some chalkiness. Good porter.
4.0 Pours a jet black with an off-white foam head. Aroma is caramel, toasted grains, chocolate, and roast. Flavor is similar. Has some carbonation and a medium body. Excellent porter.
3.5 Had it at cabana. A very quaffable brew. Strong notes of dark chocolate and caramel. I enjoyed it
3.7 A good enough sweeter Porter. Aroma is dark malt rosti toffee. Appearance started out with a nice full Me Tan head but it’s settled out quickly. Flavor is definitely on the sweet side life nose is affected by soft mouth and carbonation not overly complex. Long rosti dark malt finish that is Pleasant and fairly drinkable.
3.6 Can. Pours dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and coffee. Flavor of roasted malts, caramel, light coffee, chocolate and some nuts.
2.8 Can from Binny’s Lincoln Park. Deep brown colour, rapidly vanishing head. Quite a sweet, malty porter. Low bitterness. Small hint of vanilla, some nuts, a bit of toffee. Hint of acridity in the finish. A bit heavy and slightly boozy. Lacks drinkability.
3.1 Can. Deep brown in Color with a very light Tan Colored two and 1/2 finger head. Aroma was roasted grains and burnt caramel . Taste was roasted grains with slight coffee.
3.7 on tap at the brewery; black color; roasted malt aroma with chocolate notes; roasted malt and chocolate flavor as well; smooth
3.7 Pours dark coffee brown with a substantial, foamy, light cappuccino head. Nicely aromatic - roasted grains, chocolate, slightly sweet. Tastes of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, with a faint hint of hops in the finish. Definitely on the sweet side. Palate has nice mouth-feel, with a light creaminess. Overall, very American Porter, featuring the sweeter notes, with barely a nod to the part sour heritage - nice beer.
3.8 Tap at Pour House. Semi-opaque Pour. Brown with Ruby highlights. Roasted grain aroma. Nutty. Some caramel notes. Sweet flavor. Nutty character, caramel malt. Dried leaves. Finishes light but toasted.
3.7 Draught @ Malt and Mold. Translucent dark brown with small foamy beige head, mocha aroma, medium carbonation, caramelized malt-mocha taste, somewhat thick body, long mocha finish. Good porter.
3.8 Can thanks to grownfool. Black, with a gigantic brown head. Coffee aroma, with a lot of mildly sweet raisin, prune, and red wine. Taste is also on the sweet side, with red wine, raisin, coffee and chocolate. Odd, but I liked it.
4.2 Aroma: I don’t remember the aroma. Taste: I like the roasted malt. Overall: I like this beer but I’m new to this site and don’t know what to write.
3.9 12 oz can Filled: 11/16/16. Poured into a Union pint glass. L: Dark cola brown with two fingers of off white head. Fades to a thin film on top of the beer. Some pretty decent lacing stuck to the glass. S: Toasted malt, dark chocolate, caramel, chestnuts. T: Smooth milk chocolate blended with a roasted malt and slight dark fruit sweetness. F: Medium-full body, creamy, moderate carbonation. O: Hits most of the marks I like in a porter. What the aroma lacks is made up in flavor. Would be a regular in my lineup if it were distributed around here.
3.7 Refrigerated 12 oz. aluminum can poured into an English pint glass. Black with medium beige head. Aroma is chocolate malt, medium body, creamy texture, medium carbonation, and pretty good small-bubble lacing. Taste is chocolate, some nuts, a little dark malt and hop balance.
3.6 From a 12 oz. can. Pours a clear deep cola brown with a thick tan head. Nutty and toasty aromas. Flavors of cocoa and leather. Light roast finish.
3.6 On tap at Blind Tiger, pours dark brown / black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out toasted malt upfront, not much else. Flavour is along the same lines, with a meaty quality to the toasted malt. Big body despite the low gravity. Not especially complex but a thick feel in the palate. Very good.
3.3 Nice color and aroma.I missed the sweetness but must add there was no bitter either. It’s a fair porter...has no real distinction forward to compliment.
3.9 Can pour into nonic pint glass from Julio’s Liquors. Appearance is dark brown with mahogany tinge, no discernible sparkle, finger-width foamy light brown head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong toffee, roasted malts, mild chocolate and vanilla. Taste is sweet roasted malts with mild chocolate, dark fruits, late roasted bitterness. Palate is medium bodied with thin, creamy texture, lively carbonation and mix of sweet and bitter roasted malts. Overall, not as chocolatey as advertised but nice nonetheless. Better as it warms.
3.8 Near black. Roasted malt, chocular and fruit. Flavor is roasted malt with mild brown sugar and a hint of dark fruit. Mild hops.
3.7 Dark brown color. Sweet chocolate malty nose with some hints of dark fruit and minimum roastiness. Very smooth body. Lingering chocoalatey finish.
3.4 Can from VE. Nose sweet and dark, lightly scorched with sweet caramel. Pour brown that accumulates to black in the glass, foamy light brown head. Taste heavy chocolate with light-medium mineral character, faintly airy, excellent persistent low bitterness with good hard roast, light sweetness that also persists, flourishing red berry. Lightly tart, smooth and slightly creamy, full but not fat body. Malt a little straightforward but this is a drinkable, classic porter. [2016.09.14: 3.4]
3.1 Non Beer Trip Beer Trip Beer #25. 12 ounce can, 3/8/16. Dark brown, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of strong roasted malts and clay almost bordering on bandaid. The taste is chocolate, cherries, roasted malt, caramel. Thin bodied, low carbonation. Disappointing.
3.5 Dark coffee/copper color, clear, tall, tight foam with no lace. Aggressive barnyardy nose. Medium body, moderate flavor, refreshing and well balanced mouthfeel, good carbonation and heat, avg length, clean aftertaste. Moderately bittersweet, refreshing acidity. Coffee, malty. Pleasant, easy drinking but not exciting.
