2.7Pours clear, dark amber with ruby notes and a full, light tan head. Aroma is strong hops, spice and light caramel. Taste is caramel and light cinnamon, moving to strong pine backbone.
2.8Pours a clear reddish color with a thick off white head. Aroma is of malts, nutmeg, ginger, a little citrus, and lemon zest. Spicey carbonated palate. Flavor is of malts, ginger, nutmeg, and coriander. Leaves a spiced malt finish. It's okay. Kind of like a toned down version of Harpoon's Winter Warmer.
3.712oz can. Pours a clear, dark red-amber; little visible carbonation, but a generous fluffy white head dissipates slowly to leave a creamy 3mm on the top of the beer and light sticky lacing. Aroma is light and features Christmas cake and/or five-spice powder elements along with a light sweet caramel note. Taste mirrors aroma, with the spice elements and caramel malt taking center stage and giving way to a light woody hop bitterness. Medium body with frothy carbonation, lingering spiced aftertaste and light bitterness provide a medium length finish. Happy holidays!
4.7Bought up the last two 6-packs from my liquor store...it’s going to be a fantastic holiday season with this special beer...the spice and orange enhance the robust beer flavor instead of competing against it. Just lovely!
3.0Hoppy, caramel malts with some orange. Low in depth, no real ginger. Lackluster.
3.512 ounce can. Hazy amber, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of ginger, citrus, toffee. The taste is toffee, cherries, spice, pine ,candied citrus. Medium bodied.
3.5Tap; Dark amber/cider color; Medium body; Aroma of caramel malt, fruit, & spice; Flavor of sweet malt, caramel, ginger/spice, hops, and some fruit; Nicely balanced; Not bad.
3.7Can. Orange, ginger, caramel malt, and pine aroma. Amber with large light tan head. Moderately sweet orange, ginger, light caramel malt, and moderately bitter pine/grapefruit peel flavor. Good body. Pretty good - not overly spiced.
3.6The aroma includes pine, ginger and a bit of orange. Amber body with a quarter in off-white head. Has a pine like spicy taste. Smooth with a holiday spice bread likeness.
3.512oz can. 11/1/17 can date. Appearance: Brown/ruby red in color, mostly clear, with a thick pillowy off white head and decent lacing.
Aroma: Toasted bread and caramel maltiness with a strong herbal and resinous pine hop aroma.
Taste: Rich bread crust, a touch of caramel, then a strong pine flavor followed by some ginger and a moderately strong bitterness
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a light to moderate carbonation
Finish: Lingering toasted bread with a bit of ginger
Overall: A standard hoppy American Amber ale with the added complexity of ginger and strong pine character. Nice little twist for the winter season
3.8Can. Hazy amber pour with a white head. Pine and citrus hops in the aroma and taste.
4.0On tap at NY Beer company
AROMA - malt and spice
APPEARANCE - mahogany with slight head.
TASTE - nice blend of caramel malt and sweet dried fruit notes. Spice, banana, and nut notes.
PALATE - full and smooth
OVERALL - I would buy again.
4.1Red/dark orange pour from a can. Fresh aroma of pine and spice. I love the spruce and orange peel liveliness of this. Hop-forward for a xmas/spiced ale which is great. A malty salted caramel backbone and the hops really aren't overpowering at all which leaves room for some complex flavors to come through. Surprisingly one of the most balanced beers from Rev. and I've tried most of them. Would like to try this on draft.
2.1Pours a hazy and chunky amber color. Thin white head with some lacing. Smells like ginger ale. Tastes like ginger with some malty flavor. A creamy mouth feel.
3.4A very enjoyable seasonal. Citrus hops and a spruce-like aroma, with warm undertones. Pours clear, red-chestnut, fizzy pale tan head. Aroma citrus hops, Spice and caramel malts. Flavor matches the aroma with a predominant hop and spice notes, with just a hint of the malts in the finish. Palate is medium bodied and crisp. Very pleasant
4.012 oz. canned 11-01-2017. Lightly hazy body has a fine bead of continuous bubbles supporting a sticky sponge of foam above. Nose is crisp with evergreen resin, citrus zest and bread. Front flavor is the same. Finish has ginger and wood with more resin. Smooth medium carbonation and almost medium bodied. Well balanced enough to be a sessioner which I can't often say about this beer style. Thanks to Party Bob.
4.7Excellent seasonal ale. I had three last night in Chicago. Can I get this in Texas?
3.3Can:
Clear copper with a tall beige head.
Caramel, pine aroma.
Taste is slightly sweet caramel malt, mildly spicy pine/citrus.
A nice cooling spruce feel to it.
A little plain.......but a nice change from the typical Christmas cinnamon/nutmeg bombs.
3.512 ounce can. Copper colored pour topped by a small creamy beige head. Spicy, toasted malt aroma. Notes of evergreen and cardamom. Toasted malt flavor, ginger, spruce and bitter citrus peel. Spicy, bitter and dry finish.
3.6hoppy pine nose. leads with resiny hops. mild spice hint. hoppy finish. first holiday beer I've liked. very well balanced
3.5Can. Pours clear copper red with large foamy off-white head, pine/spruce-spicy aroma, medium carbonation, bitter caramel malt taste with spruce and spices, smooth body, long bitter caramel finish. Nice winter brew.
3.3Can sampled in a glass,
this beer was a dark red with brown hues, a little haze, there was a off-white cover, the bubbles had a yellow tint,
the nose had citrus hops, toasted malt, caramel, candy, some citrus fruit, faint spice,
the flavors were pine and citrus hops, toasted malt, caramel, spice, malt sweetness,
there was a light to medium hop bitterness with some pepper spice at the finish,
this drink had a light medium mouth feel, it was creamy and had average carbonation,
there was less sweetness in the flavor than the nose,
spice was nicely balanced (on the light side), a good beer.
3.312 oz can. Pours a nice amber mahogany brown color with a nice head. Nose is sweet and spicy with ginger and cinnamon. Taste is a little hoppy with orange citrus and full of flavor. Finish is fruity and sweet.
3.5From draft flight at BIERmarkt USA on January 14, 2017. Red/amber color, nice fruit/hop nose, good bittersweet flavor with caramel and dark fruit. Isn’t overloaded with spice like a lot of Christmas beers. Good change of pace holiday brew.
3.6Pours clear copper. Smell is sweet malt faint fruit and spice. Clean crisp body, pine fruit resin taste, nice finish
3.4Evergreen/pine and citrus hops in the aroma; cloudy orange color with lasting ivory-colored head; lots of spruce and ginger with some pine hops and a subtly aggressive bitterness, bitter peel in the finish and afertaste; medium to medium-full body, smooth texture; pretty good holiday brew that has a good balance of spice and hops, although i would have preferred slightly more pine/spruce and slightly less ginger, definitely different than many holiday brews.
2.9Draft at Dinosaur Bbq. I always try the ones with crazy names. Lightly spicy ale, some sweetness, and a yeasty, bready flavor. The holiday spices are lacking - maybe it is not fresh and the flavor faded, or they held back the spicing in this batch. This didn’t really move me much.
3.8Clear, amber pour with a frothy, off-white head. The aroma is a little spicy with notes of ginger. It has a medium body with slightly sticky texture and average carbonation. The taste is bittersweet with a lingering finish.
3.8Pours a clear amber with light tan head. A sweet caramel, malt and winter since aroma. A sweet winter spices taste with pine, hops, and sweet malts. A lingering winter spice aftertaste.
3.012.13.2016 Can at home from Whole Foods Billyburg Pours a dark purply-copper amber with giant eggshell head into shaker. Bread and veggie scents. Malt-forward palate with notes of plant and some dark grains. Not a lot of the holiday spice flavor that I would expect from a Christmas brew (nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, etc.) so it fell a little flat for me although I do get some of the orange if I look for it.
