3.4 330 ml bottle from Beers of Europe, 2017 vintage. Black, light beige head. Nose - roasts, treacle, some coffee. Taste - as above, sweet. Ashy aftertaste.
3.9 Aroma - big booze, oak, caramelized sugar, chewy caramel, char, and molasses Appearance - the body is black. The head is beige and around 1/4" and fades into a thin film of suds, with a good collar. Alcohol cloying with a did drag. Taste - big booze, caramelized sugar, oak, char, and sweetness. Palate - body is medium, texture is slick, carbonation is average, finish is bold and bodacious lots of woody booze.
4.1 Straight up this has more of a barleywine flavour. Sweet dried fruit flavour with a hint of black coffee. A real surprise this one. Pairs well while watching A Nightmare Before Xmas.
3.6 Draught @ You’ll Never Walk Alone, Kolding. Pours cloudy very dark brown with creamy, stable tan head. Clear aroma of malt and yeast, with notes of chocolate. Bitter, roasty flavour with touches of coffee and sweetish notes og malt, yeast and caramel and hints of dark fruit. Roasty and estery aftertaste with botes of booze and malt. Warming alcohol presence. Reasonable but rather boozy-bitter.
3.7 Bottle - 2015 vintage. Pours a black color with a small head and nominal lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, dark fruit, coffee and hint of alcohol. Taste of roasted malt, coffee, nuts, bit of dark chocolate and caramel. Mild bitterness and a fairly dry finish. Medium body, nicely crafted with only the slightest hint of the ABV. Very enjoyable.
3.6 Nice coffe, rosty and herbal aroma. Strong herbal taste, on first place, then sweetness, coffe and rosty tastes.Quite flat, minimum carbonation. Very interesting imperial stout.
3.5 Poured at Shelton Festival, black with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is roasted malt, licorice, cocoa. Medium body, licorice, smoke, roast, cocoa, dry finish, very good.
3.7 Bottle @ home, 2015 vintage # 11533. Black with a small light brown head. Aroma medium+ malty (roasted, burnt, dark fruit, coffee). Flavor light sweet, medium caramel, dark fruit, coffee, and medium hoppy bitter, some alcohol felt. Almost full body, light carbonated, some alcohol felt.
3.8 Bottle at La Putika. Dark black colour with small lacing creamy head, aroma of roasted malt, figs, plums. Taste of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, figs, long bitter finish. Good one
3.6 Small head black pour mild carbonation aromas dried fruit dark coffee caramel butter scotch plums the flavours caramel coffee butterscotch raisins plums a bitter taste crisp note easy simple products used a good aftertaste roast dry fruit sweetness not classy but near
3.9 Bottle, 33cl. Opaque dark brown, creamy tan head. Musky aromas of roasted malts, dry fruits, light alcohol. Full bodied, fizzy carbonation. Thick and creamy. Medium to heavy sweet, medium bitter. Rich malt and fruity flavors into a heavy, warming finish. Very pleasant.
3.7 Bottle, 355ml. A dark beer with minimal brown head. Roasted aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, nuts and alcohol. Taste is medium bitter with a roasted aftertaste. Medium to roboust bodied with moderate carbonation. Somewhat milky finish with a hint of mint and slightly acidic.
3.7 330mL bottle from Bucket Boys, Sydney. 2016 vintage bottle #6821 Not the darkest of stouts - more a deep brown body, ruby edges, holds a small beige head. Aroma of moderate intensity - roast nuts, vinous black & red fruits, wood & raisins, touch of black coffee & bitter chocolate. Thick rich syrupy body, plenty of weight & lets you know whose boss from the get go, low carbonation. Packs more flavour than the aroma suggests - rich chocolate cake, sweetened espresso, molasses, raisins, with an underpinning vinous/red wine plummy, blackberry/currant woody sort of note. Bitterness builds on finish, as does warmth. Looked a bit pale, but plenty of character here!
2.7 Bottle (2015 vintage). Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, unsweetened chocolate), with notes of sherry, nut shells, cardboard, vanilla, alcohol. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, papery. Full body, oily/velvety/syrupy texture, soft/lively carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic. The aroma is rather simple and a bit too oxidized for my tastes. There’s a sour twang in the mouth I’m not fond of either, and the aftertaste shows the oxidation too. Pretty dull/average all around.
4.1 Aroma is dark malts, dark fruit/raisins and a hint of perfumed sweetness. The flavor is dark fruit, dry dark malts, chocolate/dark chocolate and a mix of acidity, mild sweetness and increasingly warming/alcohol in the finish.
3.9 Black with thin tan head. Aroma of dark dried fruit and tar. Fruity with burnt sugar and tar flavors. Nice viscous body with a long burnt malt finish.
3.7 Brown color with a modest, but stable, tight, tiny bubbled head. Toasted to lightly roasted malt, dark breads, along with hints of chocolate and licorice. Sweet start, leading to roasted malts, mild coffee and light alcohol. Dark fruits near the finish. Linger is of dry roasted malts to a black roasted bitterness. Full, nearly oily feel. 1/14
3.3 En rigtig imperial stout. Der er virkelig smæk for skillingen på stout-noterne. God øl!!
3.8 Bottle, 330 ml. Pours jet black with a thin sheen of light tan head and some substantial lacing. Nose is quite sweet - fudge, toffee, chocolate cake, cocoa powder, licorice, slight coffee and roasted malt, hint of booze. Taste of dense caramel/toffee, more cocoa powder, mocha, more prominent roasted malt, cognac, dark honey and dark fruits towards the end - again very sweet! Lingering honey and light bitterness. Body is light for a style (a medium otherwise), texture is smooth and silky, carbonation is practically nonexistent. Definitely unbalanced in favour of sweetness, but I liked it a fair bit.
3.7 Bottle. Chocolate fudge malt and dry hay aroma. Black with moderate tan head. Moderately sweet chocolate malt, and moderately bitter dry hay flavor. Good body. Tasty.
3.9 Bottle: Bubbly, cola-coloured, with a large tan head. Chocolate roast, coffee, vanilla aroma. Flavour is dark chocolate malt....coffee grounds, caramel malt....a hint of smoke. Slightly oily.....drinks lighter than expected....really nice.
3.6 Bottle pour at Shelton Brothers. Big roasty coffee, roasted malt, cacao nib and baker’s chocolate everywhere. Lighter than I imagined on the palate. More roastiness, with some coffee and fainted charred wood. Cacao nib and toasted coffee on the finish. Nice enough, but maybe a touch too dry.
3.4 Brown, small beige head, chocolate aroma, a bit of cocoa, coffee, a bit of wood, chocolate flavor, fruits, wood, cocoa, coffee, medium bodied.
3.7 2015 bottle (Wine Down, Carnegie). Dark brown, 1 cm light tan head. Aroma of brioche, mocha, caramel, anise. 7+ Silky body is perhaps a little lighter than expected. Sweet at first but leans towards dry at the end with firm bitterness. Mocha, dark berries, toasted caramel. Coriander? Not all that roasty. No overt alcohol, surprisingly. Pretty good, old fashioned. Will age well.
3.9 Bottle at home good aromas on opening black small beige head taste liquorice booze roastiness dark coffee decent impy
3.8 Bottle at home. Pours almost black with hint of red. Tiny off-white head. Aroma is a little roasty with malts, chocolate, coffee, licorice and alcohol. Taste is quite dry and sweet roasted coffee and malts. Hints of chocolate, licorice and dried fruit. Aftertaste is boozy and quite hoppy for imperial. Pleasent beer but nothing special.
3.8 Bottle at home. Pitch black with some white lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, liquorice and notes of alcohol and herbal hops. Medium sweetness, medium bitterness. Really good.
3.4 Slightly translucent, black body with some white lacing. Faint aroma with malts and a little bit of coffee in the background. Taste begins sweet, some roasted malts and ends in a slightly bitter note. Slick mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Really easy imperial stout, mostly sweet taste but it’s lacking all the good things like roastiness, heavy malt taste and rich body. I like it as a beer but as an imperial stout it’s very lackluster.
3.7 Bottle, 10% at KØ16. Fruity aroma. Black colour, seems hazy. No head to speak of. Salty and roasted flavour. Sort of fruity finish.
