Ridgeway Warm Welcome

Ridgeway Warm Welcome

Yeeow! Especially for the holidays, a brown ale with real attitude! The malts used to make Warm Welcome are roasted to give a hearty amber-brown color and a warm, rounded nutty taste. This fine ale is dedicated to all you curious brew-lovers out there who ever had serious questions about Santa’s supposed arrival by way of the chimney. (How does he do that, anyway?)

3.0 From 50 cL bottle to wine glass, small head that quickly disappears, some lacing in the glass Appearance light brown, some hazyness Aroma: aroma of toasted grains Taste: initially very good, but lacks follow through, Mouthfeel: just ok Overall: good beer, strong smell, sense of alcohol, will not repeat
3.2 Bottle. Low fluffy and quickly disappearing whie head. Clear light brown body. Sweet fruity caramel aroma. Sweet roasted malt caramel cocoa fruity flavor with notes of alcohol. Fair amount of hops bitterness. Low carbonation. Long finish.
3.3 Bottle pour. Clear brown with a small off white head. Aroma is roasted nuts, coffee, and some sweet malts. Creamy medium body. Sweet initial taste with a light bitter.
2.9 Bottle at home from backlog notes. Pours a clear amber/chestnut brown color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have sweeter English style malts, caramel, light toast, mild nutty character, finishes soft, lighter body.
4.2 There was no smoke with this beer. It pours a light brown that is hazy and has a medium creamy white head that left no lacing. The aroma is rather weak. However, I pick up roasted/burnt nuts, hazelnut, caramel, and slight sweetness. The taste is a strong nuttiness and roasted nuts. I also pick up hazelnut, caramel, burnt brown sugar. There is a sweet finish and no bitterness. The drink-ability is extremely high. As the beer warmed up I did pick up more floral and grassy notes. I really enjoyed this beer and highly recommend it!
3.3 Hazy amber with medium beige head. Aroma is malt, caramel and hops. Taste is caramel and malt.
3.2 Bottle. Pours amber with a medium off white head. The aroma is malty and nutty with notes of marzipan and dried fruit. The flavor is malty and light nutty with light hoppy notes.
2.9 2012 bottle. Dark hazy copper with a general caramel and dusty nutty nose. Full body though with a boring flavor of general biscuity toast and very light caramalt tones. Light nuttiness and a finish of toasted English muffin.
4.0 Ridgeway Warm Welcome has a medium, cream-colored head, a chestnut brown, semi-clear appearance, and some lacing left behind. The aroma is a nice combination of dark sugar, toasted malt, grain, and bread crust. Taste is similar, with a mellow, mild hop bitterness at the end. Mouthfeel is medium, and Ridgeway Warm Welcome finishes crisp, refreshing, and very easy going for a 6% beer. RJT
3.5 Nice bready, woody, toasty aroma from a crystal clear copper/amber body with a thick eggshell head. More wood and roasted malt in the flavor with a nice dark caramel sweetness and nuttiness. Medium bodied and slightly creamy, but somehow a bit watery. A good, well made English brown ale.
3.0 500ml bottle from Favourite beer. Clear Amber colour with thin ran head. Aroma has malt and caramel. Taste is caramel and spice.
1.7 Espuma casi nada. El color caramelo nada especial. Cierto aroma que se presenta en cervezas caseras malas. Sabor "no bueno" medio astringente. Medio como grasoso. Algo de especias pero poco. No me gusto parece cerveza casera mal echa. Quizás me toco una mala botella.
4.2 Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a mug. The appearance was a dark hazy brown color with a one finger off white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. Nice foamy speckled lacing lingers at a nice pace down the sides of the glass. The aroma smelled like Christmas as there was a nice multitude of ginger, allspice, cinnamon, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, light marshmallow, vanilla, light pumpkin all combined wonderfully in a very inviting sort of way. The taste followed the nose with the chocolates really coming out on top. On the palate, this one sat right about a medium in body. Sessionable? Not really, as I found myself sipping this more. The carbonation was extremely smooth but not watery. Overall, wow, I’ve always loved this brown ale as an early winter beer (Christmas), I look forward to the holidays whenever I think of this beer.
3.1 500ml bottle. Pours a deep amber, with a white head. Malty, lightly roasted aroma, hops, chocolate, apricot, citrus. Off-dry, medium body and bitterness, balanced CO2. Malty, quite hoppy taste, caramel, light chocolate notes, orange peel. Quite enjoyable, but comes across as slightly watery for that ABV. (2014-01-24)
2.5 Bottle kindly preserved by the RBHD tasting party on Fridtjoffen. Clear copper colored body. Dried fruits and caramel on the nose. Sweet, light salty liquorice and a weak, stale bitterness that lasts and reveal faint stale nuts. Medium to full bodied.
3.0 Clear amber. Caramel sweetness with some fruitiness in taste. Similar taste. OK balance. Slightly metallic.
3.2 Shared bottle at local tasting, from Voldby Købmandsgaard. Amber to reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Sweetish aroma, toffee and caramel. Toffee and nuts in the flavour, fairly dry, more distinct hops than expected.
3.0 Shared bottle at local tasting. Pours clear mahogany with a small thin head. Aroma of caramel, light roasted, furniture polish. Dry mouthfeel. Taste is light sweet, nutty malts, balanced by some easy roast and dry spices, lingering moderate bitter.
2.9 Bottle 0.5 at Gallow’s Bird, Espoo. Originally rated 17122011. Colour is clear copper with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Sweetness, some caramel, some hops and malts.
2.7 Bottle. Clear golden, medium sized off white head. Spicy, soapy, perfumy, light grain, nuts, caramel, syrup. Medium body, medium sweet, light bitter, oily texture, soft carbonation.
3.1 Klar mørk gylden , god hvid skum, let duft sødlig, let maltet sødlig sag, udemærket mundfuld let vo2, let bitter eftersmag Free Føroyar!!!
2.9 Another surprise Christmas beer. Medium clear amber, a bit on the light side, faint orange, not much head and fades fast. Aroma initially a bit skunk, fortunately this faded, gave way to some berry notes. Slightly nutty forefront in the mouth (only when warm) gives way quickly to a fruity finish that strikes me as a mix of yeast and hop characteristics. Blueberry is ultimately the flavor that stood out the most, which frankly is a bit bizarre in a brown ale. Not bad, but had some flaws for my tastes.
1.0 I was disappointed. This has that "skunky" taste that is supposed to present. Not a fan.
3.1 Brown, potato-masher bottle, OK label. Dilute tea-colored, not much head. Nutty-sweet malt aroma, with some graininess. A little astringent, twiggy-grassy, an odd bitterness on the sides of the tongue. Nothing much going on here. Medium-light body, moderately bitter finish. World Market, Tallahassee.
3.2 500ml Bottle: BBD 28 Aug 14, poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard at home on 16 Dec 13. Imported by the Shilton Brothers, which was a shock as I live in Shropshire! I wonder where this bottles has been before it arrived at my house? Nice clear amber body with a full, deep head which died but gave some heavy lacing as it did so. Malty, woody and nutty in both the nose and the taste, caramel notes came through the maltiness as it warms. Good bite in the finish, this is a well balanced, easy to drink beer.
3.0 Clear Copper Color, Medium Head Did Not Last, Spotty Lacing. Stale Malt Aroma. Taste about the same, Stale Malt, Lightly Roasted, Lightly Sweet and Bitter. Reminds Me of Samuel Smith Version. Drinkable, Nothing Special, Therefore Not Memorable OK. Pass It...
Suutuntuma on melko täyteläinen. Jälkimaussa humalaa ja hieman alkoholia. Mukavasti humaloitu, mutta tylsä ale.
2.8 A - Slight chilled haze, looks like brewed tea. An off-white head settles into a milky cap. Tight lacing around the top. S - Grain husk, honey, mellow roast, crushed walnuts, caramel malt, doughy yeast. T - Honey coated roasted grain start things off. A sweet creamy caramel malt comes in with soft brown bread with The middle is fruity with some starfruit, honeydew melon, and apple skins. Pecan shells and herbal hops add some dryness on the finish. M - Light bodied, smooth and chewy feel, low carbonation, tea tannins coat the tongue, finishes dry. Nice creamy English flavors that drink very easy. This was better than expected. Serving type: bottle 01-07-2012
2.9 Aroma is a little hoppy with spice and caramel notes. Pours copper colored with a white head that clings to the glass. Taste is caramel and spice with a nutty flavor with a dry slightly hoppy finish.
