3.2 Dark brown in color, the foam lazy with a thin layer. Nose. Coffee and chocolate, some fried notes and fruits. when heated, alcohol appears. Taste. The body of the beer is dense, taste, bittersweet with chocolate sourness. The aftertaste is light chocolate bitterness. A good, balanced imperial stout.
4.5 Bottle, 0.66l, shared with Patrick. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel and vanilla. Pours pitch black color with thin creamy light brown head and nice lacing. Taste starts with sweet and rich roasted malt and chocolate, following is nutty and earthy with licorice note, mouthfeel is smooth, while finish is mild bitter. Full body, creamy texture and soft carbonation in palate. Dangerously drinkable nocturnal beast...
3.7 Kolor bardzo ciemny, prawie czarny, kompletnie pozbawiony prześwitów. Piana brązowa, wysoka i trwała. Bardzo ładnie krążkuje. W aromacie, nuty palone, kawa, orzechy, trochę lukrecji i tytoniu. W tle delikatne akcenty drewna. Alkohol dobrze ukryty. Wysycenie średnie. Ciało średnie do wysokiego. Płyn ma fakturę gładką, miękką. Posmak długi, kawowo palony ze sporą goryczką.
3.9 25.02.2020 - 0.33l bottle at home. pours pitch black with a steady beige head and a nice lacing. aroma of molasses, fine roasty notes. flavour of roast, vanilla, citrus. slightly sour, bittersweet, full body. alcohol is well hidden.
4.0 Dark brown with a red shimmer and no head. Smell of roasted malts with chocolate, coffee and wood notes. Full bodied taste of roasted malts with a red berry note and a peppery coffee ending. Low carbonation.
3.7 Bottle from the brewery. Engine oil black with a big brown head that vanishes like a day trader's account balance when Trump slams China. Woody, nutty, coffee nose. Flavor is sweet & lightly acidic soy, chocolate malt, smooth medium hop bitterness balancing the sugar of this 10% powerhouse. Nice, and pretty drinkable for a beer that strong!
4.0 Keg at Brauhaus Riegele, Augsburg in 2017. Black with a tan head. Aroma of molasses, oxo and slight peat. Flavour has nice dried fruit, dates, roasted malt and liquorice flavours.
3.8 66cl Zwart bier met voldoende bruin schuim. Geur gebrande mout, fruit. Smaak gebrande mout, koffie, chocolade, vanille, fruit. Vol mondgevoel. Nasmaak mout, fruit, koffie, vanille. Niet te bitter of droog. Prima
3.6 A bit of a different impy stout than what I am used to in the states. A lot more caramel toffee and fruit flavors on the back end. Bordering on double or barleywine vibe. Super smooth and lots of deep rich flavors.
3.9 Bottle@Die Kleine Bierstube, Aarhus. Pours opaque black with small brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, dark chocolate, soy sauce, blackberry and hints of liquorice. Taste is medium sweet, light bitter and faint salty. Body is easy to light oily with light sparkling carbonation. Finish is long, rich and mostly sweet with notes of malt, gravy, blackberry, espresso, salty liquorice and with hints of coconut and vanilla.
3.4 For europe, this might be an OK imperial stout but if you are used to US beers, it's middle of the road. All is there but the beer is a bit bland and unbalanced.
Superbe! Une impérial stout comme on les aime!
3.8 Bottle picked up from Getränke Fleischman, Freising. Consumed at home Attenkirchen, Sunday 12th May 2019 whilst listening to Stuart Maconie, 'The Freak Zone' on 6 Music. Pours black with a small tan head. I've still got a little bit of mint in my mouth following cleaning my teeth so this has an interesting choc' mint taste initially. Once the mint subsides there is a light coffee flavour, medium roastiness, quite thick in the mouth, a little boozy. It's chocolate and vanilla, it's good.
3.1 Bottle. Opaque and oily black with a small beige head and lots of lacing. Aroma of sausages (Bifi) and some smoke, no traces of chocolate or coffee... Taste is totally different: Roasted malts, espresso, dark chocolate and smoke. Minimally sour and nice roasty bitterness. Medium carbonation. Just ok.
3.6 Prijemny cierny Imperial Stout. Kupene pri Salzburg tripe.
3.6 Fles 66cl thuis. Zoeten, donker fruit, bitters, roasted malts, caramel, wat boozy, stroperig, zoethout, salmiak. Volle intense smaak. Zwaar. Niet helemaal in balans. (15-2-2019).
2.2 CraftbeerFestival Kalsruhe 2019
3.8 A very nice and strong beer as expected from the style and abv, while it is awesome, it is also probably average for the style. D&S dresden. (3.8 jan 2019) Tried again. Agree. It’s very good and deep black
3.7 0,66 l bottle. Think I had it for years in my shelf. BB 8.04.2019. Pours out oily pitch black with a more than one finger frothy dark beige head. Looks really good. Intensive choco fruity smell. Taste starts with a lot of choco, coffee and berryfruits. Creamy. Very smooth palate. Getting more dry in the second part. Not really alcoholic. Very nice stuff.
4.0 Color is black, small dark foam head. Aroma is strong, good roasted barley and roasted sugar notes. Taste is good balanced between sweet and bitterness. Drinkable, tasty.
4.3 Bottle from secret summer Santa McTapps, cheers! Pours black with a brown head. Dark chocolate and prunes! A bit of coffee, blackberries, caramel. Sweet and savoury, moderate bitterness,. Really well done.
3.9 Bottle. Almost black. Opaque. Small tan head. Aroma: sweet fruit jam, toasted malts, a little roasted barley. Medium to full body. Taste: quite sweet, moderately roasty. Chocolate. Additional esters. Light bitterness. Short finish.
4.1 The freshly opened bottle releases a sherry-like smell. In the glass, you additionally get some roastiness, coffee (of course, but not that much), caramel and a marked note of prunes. There is rather little head upon the syrupy, very concentrated beer. Sweetness is abundant, but not too liquoricey - delicious! This is quite clearly a dessert beer - made for a 'port wine mood' rather than a 'stout mood'. All in all, it's a really impressive imperial stout, which I shall buy again.
4.5 (visqueuse en robe-versage-remuage (inertie !)-nez-bouche, ∞-maltée-noire, cacao-plantureuse, lisse, cereal-nectar)
3.8 Bottle. Pours opaque jet black with a medium, frothy tan head, medium retention. Heavy and rich chocolate and roast malt, dark fruits, light earthy hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Full body and medium carbonation.
3.6 Bardzo słodki, czekoladowy aromat. W smaku kawowa paloność, trochę kakao. Jest calkiem dobre, ale bez rewelacji.
4.0 Sehr schwer und wuchtig! Bitterschokolade und Kaffe, ölig. Dunkles schwarz mit dichtem Schaum. Grandios!
3.8 Bottle 33 cl, from Dresden. Black with a nice creamy light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, rasin, burned malt and some coffee. Sweet with a warm chocolate and coffee end. Nice
