Rivertown Roebling Porter

Rivertown Roebling Porter

Crafted for the ones that are free to enjoy their Porter all year round. This rich, Imperial Porter combines the perfect blend of LaTerza espresso, vanilla and innovation into a big, rich, chocolate, espresso infused brownie of a beer that is as innovative as its namesake. Rivertown was asked to craft a beer for a community festival in 2011 which celebrated the 145th Birthday of the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge linking Cincinnati, OH and Covington, KY. This Imperial Porter is inventive, unique, well balanced, strong, and has been created to be as timeless and remarkable as the Roebling Bridge, the man who dreamed big and the community that brought that dream to life.

3.2 Arômes de café, de chocolat en sirop et de vanille avec malts rôtis. Intéressant. Les saveurs sont entre la douceur et l’amertume. Enfin de bouche, des fruits foncés se signalent. Dommage que ce soit mince en bouche. Correct.
3.0 Dark copper, clear, tight lace. Medium body, rather flat mouthfeel, low heat and carbonation, intense roast flavors, long palate. Bitter, sweetish. Dark roast coffee, lactose. Unimpressive but not unpleasant.
4.0 Pours an opaque dark brown almost black color with khaki colored head. Vanilla, espresso roast coffee, and dark chocolate on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied, thin for an imperial porter. Finishes with vanilla sweetness and espresso coffee.
3.3 Tap at Engine 15, Jacksonville. Pours a Coca Cola colour with an off white head. Light dark choc, coffee aroma. Medium body, medium carbonation. A touch thin. Coffee, milk choc, light vanilla, light raisin... OK.
2.7 heavy aroma of coffee, roasted malt, and some spices. Ebony in color, super thin white head. Sweet up front....very sweet. Rich chocolate, some notes of vanilla, and some cream soda. Bitterness is dry and coffee-like. Watery mouth feel, not much carbonation. Average.
3.4 Sampled at catch 22 bottle share! Pours a deep brownish black with thin tan head. Aroma and taste of sweet vanilla and deep roast coffee, a hint of earthy soy. Clean and easy for abv, but a bit oxidized.
3.7 Draft @ Titanic brewpub. Pours dark brown color with tan head. Big chocolate and lightly roasted malt aromas. Milk chocolate and roasted malt flavors with a hint of espresso. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Decent.
3.5 Pours a brown almost black color with a small tan head. Aromas heavy on chocolate/coffee with some smoke. Nice bitterness mixed with the coffee/chocolate flavors.
3.8 This imperial porter has great taste and packs a punch at 7+ abv the color is very dark and has little head. The coffee aroma is present and the taste of the coffee malt is great. Overall I like this beer and would recommend it to anyone
2.5 Chocolate marcante e baunilha e cafe nao muito forte, mas com uma sensacao de álcool marcante.
3.7 Aroma of smoked malt and espresso. Pours a dark brown with a short lasting tan head. A delicious taste of chocolate, malt and a hint of coffee. Creamy feel with a mildly bitter chocolate finish.
3.5 It’s been a long time since we had this, but I have to add to the system. We gave 3.5 so it was above average and liked the chocolate and slight vanilla. It was a little coffee but not much, and almost a bitter nut taste. Tap
2.0 Wow all I can say is this one is incredibly flat. Some chocolate flavor.Almost feels like someone left this one on the counter overnight and I’m drinking it the next morning.
3.4 Pours dark brown with an off white head. Lots of vanilla, cinnamon, and toffee in the nose. Lots of vanilla flavor...almost entirely vanilla...surprised it isn’t better balanced with the coffee...or the uhhh, porter. Medium mouthfeel with that vanilla astringent aftertaste. An alright beer...the base beer isn’t good enough to hold up to the vanilla...and im not sure what makes this "imperial" at under 8%.
3.3 Bottle. This is a nice rich porter with a good balance of coffee and vanilla flavors.
3.5 Roebling espresso vanilla imperial porter. lots of words. Rich dark brown brew with a very fine almost not there head of tan bubbles. The aroma is slightly sweet vanilla over a richly roasted dark chocolate malt. Taste is initially a bit sweet but resolves into a nice roasted dark chocolate and black coffee with a bit of cream bitter. body is full and silky. a very decent porter.
3.5 Pretty tasty sweet porter. Dark brown pour. Lots of chocolate, vanilla, coffee.milky creamy mouthfeel. Tasty stuff.
4.1 On tap pours black with tan head. Had a nitro version on tap not sure if the usual is usually a nitro. Really good, coffee, vanilla, chocolate, toffee. Very roasty then finished sweet.
3.8 Bottle: Clear, deep brown with red tint...short tan head. Chocolate, vanilla bean aroma. Taste is silky, sweet coffee malt, vanilla, milk chocolate....cream. Really tasty.
3.7 This is a tasty brew. Alcohol taste and aroma are upfront and make this beer seem like more than 7.5abv. Chocolatety on the palate with a nice finish of vanilla and sweet fruity notes.
3.7 Labeled as Vanilla Espresso Imperial Porter Tallahassee, Fl - New Leaf Market - 12 oz bottle. Purple leaning to black pour, off white head, no lace. Creosote, licorice, and chocolate in the aroma.Flavor has some espresso accents, chocolate , licorice, biscotti biscuits and vanilla presence permeating throughout. Nice, thick, rich mouthfeel. Rather enjoyed this one. . Earlier Rating: 6/23/2012 Total Score: 3.5 Thanks to drowland for this.Pours a deep dark brown fading to black, light off-white head. Aroma has some nice earthy black topsoil essence to it, with a touch of licorice. Flavor has some coffee, a hint of licorice, some earthy black dirt essence. Mouthfeel is slightly dry and chalky which is nice. Best of the bunch from Rivertown that drowland shared with me - but still has a touch of that butterscotch noted in their other beers - just mixes in well in this case. .
3.8 Refrigerated 12 oz. squat brown bottle from jsquire poured into a snifter. Black with small beige head. Nice light dark malt, medium body, medium carbonation, and small-bubble lacing. Taste is dark malt, coffee, some chocolate, and some vanilla. Pretty good porter, thanks jsquire.

3.6 Pours dark brown. Nose is malty with strong chocolate notes. Taste is basically sweet, with a touch of a dark chocolate bitterness. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Good brew.
4.3 Very nice porter. Pours a deep dark brown. Light tan head. Smells of chocolate, vanilla, and coffee. Taste of the same. Complex flavors meld well together. Easy to drink. Very even taste. Not overly malty or hoppy. Will definetly drink again.
