3.6 (En fût à O’Brien’s): Très vinaigré, un noyau de cerise vivement impliqué, aucune effervescence et une sécheresse épicée en finale.
3.7 Big Wood 2016, Brouwer’s, Seattle. Very thin ring, a bit of haze to a red-brown, clear body. Great red fruit, funky depth, soft red fruit sip. Some light tart, a little vinous, a touch of vinegar. Nice.
3.6 Na kranie w Beer Temple Amsterdam: Piwo raczej klarowne w kolorze bursztynowym nalewa sie praktycznie bez piany. W aromacie kwasnie zielone winogrona, czerwone porzeczki i winne aromaty. W smaku czuc drewno, bardzo kwasne owoce i lekko slodki finisz. Jest lekko i orzezwiajaco, bardzo pijalne.
3.7 Draught at the BeerTemple. Hazy brown with a medium slightly off-white head. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Nice sourness with subtle sweet and bitter tones. Tart, oak, vinegar, grapes and berries. Nice!
3.9 On tap at Beertemple, Amsterdam. Pours hazy reddish orange, minimal off-white head. Fruity, berries, vinous, wood, malty, grapes. Tart, bit vinegarish, dry. Medium bodied. Liked it.
4.2 Nose green grapes or good white wine vinager. Mouth is surprisingly complex with green pineapple for a touch of sweetness. Sour but so flavorfull that is very pleasant fresh drink. Aftertaste is fruity but not at all tart. Very good!
3.9 F: big, light off-white, good retention. C: red brown, light hazy. A: vinous, toffee, hint of chocolate, brett, barnyard, red fruits. T: vinous as a red vine, fruity sourness, woody, barnyard, hint of chocolate, medium body, normal carbonation, very smooth mouthfeel, easy drinking and good balanced between sweet and sour side. on tap @ ’t Antwaerps Bierhuyske.
3.6 Tap: Hazy, light amber with a reddish sheen, small and loose off-white head;distinctive sour-fruuity and cellary nose, some residual traces of caramel detectable; solid and dry sour flavour, a residual sweetness is hardly detectable, light bodied;lingering dry sour finish, the acidity makes Your throat burn. Well crafted, archetypal gem…
4.4 From Tap (sort of) @ Beertemple Amsterdam. Ambrato carico, quasi ramato, riflessi rubino. quasi nessuna schiuma, solo lievi bolle grossolane beige. Aroma complesso molto intenso, aceto di vino rosso, legno, vaniglia, succo di limone, frutta a bacca rossa. vaniglia, legno e leggero caramello. Gusto acido, estremamente pungente, acetico, caramellato, spigolosissima, estrema, quasi nessun corpo e nessuna carbonatazione. astringente. non equilibrata, ma (devo scriverlo) chissenefrega! è fantastica così com’è.
4.2 Really dark brown color, almost black, tan head. Aroma has bitter cherries, chocolate and some caramel. Taste starts sour upfront, slightly acidic, continues with toffee and caramel, very balanced on the finish. Medium body and carbonation. This is very interesting flanders style ale, quite different from the other Rodenbach beers. Much more chocolate and toffee.
3.8 On tap at Rovare Res. Cherry pie in a glass. Minimal head and lacing. Sweet green apple and some acetic character. Delicious.
3.8 On TAP: pours amber color, clear, with almost no head. Aroma fruity, wooden, vanilla, grapes, floral notes. Flavor: tart vinous, vinegar, grapes, oak...dry finish, slightly tart, body is light to medium, texture soft, carbonation is low.
4.2 On draft at the Bruges Beer Museum. Near clear amber pour w decent white head layer. Great sour. Vinegar acidic bit without being over the top. Balanced by a woody twinge a subtle fruity character. Notes of pear and fig. Really good.
3.8 Tap @ Beer Temple, Amsterdam. Pours orange, large head. Aroma is sour, acetone. Taste is sour, caramel, slight cherry, oak. Light, some carbonation.
3.6 11k rating, j’espaire. on tap at prisoncity brewing. good and significant sour. brown coloured body. medium mouthfeel. meets the style. sipper.
3.4 Ugly as fuck, no head, dull amber. Aroma is acetic, heavily wooded, earthy, tart, a bit orangey, an odd beer...the unblended character could be viewed as a study in rusticity or as something in need of polishing. Glad to try it, anyway, even if I prefer to more refined Rodenbachs.
3.3 Draft. Medium off-white head atop clear dark amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, cherry, some sour, lemon, wood. Taste is moderately sweet, cherry, some tart, lemon, light sour, wood. Light-medium body, some acidity, stickiness.
4.0 Draught at Antwerpske Bierhuyske, Antwerp. Hazy amber/copper beer with a small head. Tart fruity vinous aroma, grapes, some hay, floral notes. Tart vinous flavor, sweet vinegar, grapes, rubber notes. Tasty complex one.
3.9 Tap. Deep amber orange with small head. Light carbonation. Tart cherry. Not as much underlying sweetness as vintage, but still excellent. Oak is nice, but again less complex.
4.3 Hazy brownish red with a tan head. Notes of vinegar, chocolate, cocoa, some woody undertobes. Medium body, low carbonation and a sour chocolatey finish.
3.1 Tap. Clear, amber, frothy, white foam, medium sourness, light sweetness, medium body, oily feel, soft carbonation, & long finish.
3.1 Orange-brown pour foamy off white head. Fantastic tart cherry and apple aroma, flavor is similar but not as pronounced. A little thin. Quite nicely tart though.
3.8 8 oz. on tap. Opaque reddish-brown with a fleeting head. Nose is tart berry mix, vinegar and light funk. Tastes the same with a bit of brown sugar and a hint of oak in the finish. Light-medium body has low-medium carbonation and a definite acidic dry slant and a nice sour. Refreshing on a Memorial Day weekend.
4.3 Sampled from the tap at Chuck’s Hop Shop. Pours a hazy deep Amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice sour dark fruit note with light oak and a bit of bread underlying. Flavor has a nice combination of oak and deep red sour fruits with a touch of acid underlying.
3.8 Reddish color, off-white head with short to medium retention. Aroma has notes of red fruits with notes of sourness. Flavor is funky, fruity, some wooden notes, a presenceo f cherries perhaps. The final is acidis, with notes of red fruits. Very enjoyable.
3.7 Ámbar tupido y espuma marfil. Aromas de fruta amarilla ácida, cuero. Cuerpo medio con sabor como en aroma de acidez afilada y final seco.
4.0 On tap at BeerTemple, Amsterdam. Pours reddish brown with an attractive beige head and a sourish fruity aroma. There is an esrthy slightly sour malt flavor with a tart oaky lasting finish. Delicate and tasty.
3.7 Tap at BeerTemple. Almost clear tea brown/amber with fluffy white head. Sour grapes and caramel, oak wood, funky yeasty. Medium sour, light sweet underneath. Under medium body. Minerallike trxture, low carbonation.
3.9 Tap at Beer Temple. Slight hazy reddish amber with fluffy and bubbly off white head. Sour cherries, red berries, dusty, hay, lemon, light oxidized sherry notes but no lactic notes like Rodenbach sometimes has. Medium sour and light dry bitter finish. Under medium bodied, no carbonation. Not very complex but very nice and drinkable.
4.3 Woody dark fruit aroma and flavor. Cherry. Sour maybe 4 or 5 of 10. Nice balance, maybe even a bit watery palate. In between rodenbach and grand cru by sourness. Lighter and refreshing but still enough sour. Actually really nice and has the classic rodenbach flavors.
