Rodenbach Grand Cru

Rodenbach Grand Cru

Bottle: Filtered.

A blend of 1/3 young beer and 2/3 of beer aged 2 years in large oak vats. The more important proportion of oak matured beer contributes to its fruity taste, complexity and intensity. The finish is worthy of a great wine.

4.1 330ml bottle brewed in Belgium at 6%. Rich dark ruby with a small cap of near-instantly fizzling-away head. Dark, somewhat woody and vinous aroma, a little plummy, notes of raspberry and blackberry conserves alongside tart pear, green apple skin, and modest lactic character. Modest carbonation, robust body. Much more complex than the standard Rodenbach, the sourness though front and foremost is, if anything, more delicate and nuanced, being much more fruity than lactic, at times suggesting a high-quality vinegar; there's a tart black and red berry jamminess, full flavours of pear and green apple, a developing hearty brown bread malt, gentle drying fruit-skin tannin in the finish, and a long woody vanilla and pear drop aftertaste, making this a very impressive affair, that still retains a refreshing character. If you like Rodenbach, this is the fuller, fruitier version.
4.0 Aromat octowy, trochę wiśniowy. W smaku dość słodkie, bardzo kwaśne, mocno octowe, trochę maślane, goryczki brak. Sztos
4.0 Acida, alcool, vinosa, leggermente maltata, frutti rossi, lampone, aceto balsamico

4.0 Bilanciata, per niente spigolosa, dissetante con finale secco
3.8 Pours browny red with very little head showing mild carbonation. Notes of brown vinegar and cherry on the nose with deeper hints of berries.
3.7 Bouteille 33cl couleur brune mousse beige goût boisé, whisky, acide, cerise, se boit bien, bu à Vanuxeen
2.9 Dark reddish brown, small off-white head. Nose is a little vinegary. Sweet and sour, strong flavors. Vinegar aroma, a little fruity, a little oak, wine notes. Not my cup of tea.
3.8 Bottle from Beyond Beer, drunk watching Space Force antics. Dark red brown. Good, moderately sour nose. The flavor is night and day more interesting than the classic version fire to much more of the 2y aged beer. Good complexity, tangy acidity, fruity sour notes, moderately long finish.
3.4 Nalewa się rubinowe, przejrzyste, piana niezbyt obfita. W zapachu mocno wiśnie, troche ocet, pestkowo, może nawet ciut suszonej śliwki. W smaku mocno słodowe, wyraźna wiśnia, sporo octu, spoko balans pomiędzy słodowością a kwasem, coś mi ten style nie pasi.
4.0 Pours amber, beige head, low resistance. Vinegar aroma and cherry. Taste is with moderate carbonation, again vineous feeling and some fruit. Mixed: fruit, sourness, malts and moderate carbonation. Very, very good.
3.8 0.33l bottle. Cloudy deep ruby colour with quickly disappearing beige head. Aroma: Wine cask, vanilla, marzipan with a hint of white chocolate and a slightly funky tone. Taste: Quite sour start with a balsamic vinegar feel and oaky tones and has a light bitter mouthfeel. It makes a sticky feel in the mouth, has a gooey texture. Light/medium body with medium carbonation. Long lasting sour/stickey finish.

3.2 330ml bottle, BeerMerchants, bb 20/07/2024 Reddish brown, clear, off-white/pinkish head, some patchy lacing. Nose - vinegar, redcurrants, fermenting wine. Taste - sour, young, fermenting berry wine.
4.0 [Tasting - Mikkeller Bar Aarhus] [Vintage 2013] Aroma: Dates, raisins, sour cherries, oak, vinegar, brown sugar, strawberries and marzipan Appearance: Clear mahogni brown with no head Taste: Mildly sweet and midly acidic, sour cherries, dates, prunes, raisins, oak, vinegar, marcipan and mild strawberries Mouthfeel: Oily texture with no carbonation Overall: No carbonation due to the age probably, but besides that it still has a nice complexity and drinkability
4.0 Moja ocena jest moją subiektywną oceną i nie musi pokrywać się z twoją oceną. Miej to na uwadze. Dystans zalecany. Instagram/czgr_
4.3 Reddish with a white head, 33 cl bottle. Amazing sour aroma of vinegar and berries.
2.6 Pours res/amber with a medium pronounced beige top, quickly diminishing. Aroma is quite sour with a hint of oak and wine yeast feel. Taste is very flat, strong sour note in thw front, mixed with a very nice seeetness, then just leaving the door open for this strong, sour long lasting and overwhelming fruity sourness. As I am not a sour fan, I don’t like it, but I value ita complexity.
5.0 Best red ale so much better than normal rodenbach
1.8 Bière ou vinaigre? Goût plus que particulier, plutôt acide!
1.0 Fucking disgusting mate
4.7 Unique!
4.0 Visiva: schiuma scarsa grossolana color ocra, birra color marrone scuro con riflessi ambrati, velata. Olfatto: elevata intensità con descrittori fruttati, aciduli, uva, leggero caramello e malto. Gusto: molto intenso con descrittori acidi, aspri e finale dolce. Uva matura e ciliegie mature, caramello.

3.3 330 ml bottle. Reddish brown colour, nearly no head, lively carbonation. Nose is acidic, fruity, red berries, wood. Flavour is quite the same, high acidic fruitiness, low sweet- and bitterness. It‘s not my preferred style, but I found it nice and refreshing.
3.6 Beer52 CyberFest #6. Creamy tan head stayed on a reddish brown still body. Red wine & tannin aroma. Medium bodied, smooth with a sharp dry finish. Red wine, tannin, berries, toffee & tart tastes with a sour finish. It's good.
4.0 Bottle. 6.0%. Best before 18.06.23. Pours a dark amber/ruby, with a diminishing, light khaki head. No lacing. Tiny bit of sediments. Medium sour, fruity/berry, bit malty aroma, with a sugary overtone. Spicy hint. Light wooden note as it warms. Flavour is much the same; sour, sweetish, with (overripe) berries, dark-ish fruits, a bit sugary. Light malt in the background. Dry, sour finish. Lingering grassy/apple note. Overall pretty good, well-balanced. 21.05.21.
