2.2Doftar gammalt telt och metall. Lite söt metallisk bärsmak och et ganska stort källarpregl
3.5Bottle at Kulminator, March 2012.
Reddish purple with a small pinkish head. Extremely drinkbable, almost like cherry juice but with some good sourness. Thin and sweet but I liked it anyway.
3.5review from notes 2009
Bottle poured into pint glass
A: light red with small pinkish head with slight retention
S: sweet malt, cherry
T: sour cherry flavor backed with sweet malt. Interesting flavor combo
Md: very drinkable somewhat buttery mouthfeel
3.3some Vintage bottle@Kulminator: deep red colour, smells like some kind of cherry cocktail mixed with some musty & sour cherries, taste is like cherry juice & cherry cocktail, some cherry candy, mixed with something you would get if you tried making a traditional kriek outside of Pajottenland (musty, rotting & sour cherries), some vinegar, overall a strange clash between two sides of this beer with the latter clearly having developed largely with aging, medium body & carbonation, slightly oily
3.2bottle at kulminator
head: none
colour: deep cherry red
smell: vintage , sweet , cherry candys , cocktail cherry , rodenbach yeast/malts ( sour )
taste: not what i expected , i expected a very sweet beer , but it tend out to be a more rodenbach like style , ( so a bit sour ) with a mild sweet cherry taste in it ... end is oily and skunky/sour malty ( like a oud bruin ) aftertaste is almunds/earthy ... actually not that bad ...
2.6Bottle at Kulminator.
Clear red brown coloured with a small off-white head.
Sweet and fruity aroma of cherries and marzipan with notes of metal and solvents.
Fruity flavour of cherries and marzipan with notes of metal and solvents.
Fruity finish.
3.1transparent red amber, thin white ring for a head. Nose of cherry sweeness, light balsamic, bit lactic with hints of syrup. Really light lactic cherry nose, bit of bitter acetone in finish. Too light flavor, too off nose.
3.1Home (33 cl bottle): A deep red colour with some brown-shine. Aroma is slight sweet with strong fruitness of cherry (sour). Als some wood/vanilla in the aroma. The taste starts sweet with a sour fruittaste of cherry. Also vanilla. The taste finish is slight sweet, sour with still a lot of fruitness. There is also some bitterness in the end (wood-like)
3.0THE this beer losses points for me. Ten smackers!!! Little high for a low alcohol beer. But the flavor was nice and the finish was sweet.
3.5Draught at R&H. Cloudy red amber with no head. Aroma is sour feet, though light and not pungent, rye bready. Taste is light sour, hints of farmhouse, horsey, beautifully light on tongue. Very easy to drink but still substantial body.
3.6Draft. Pours red-brown with a beige head. The aroma has a cherry like sweetness and some acidic/sour notes. The flavor has a nice balance or sweetness and tartness with cherry notes. Nice.
3.512 oz bottle courtesy of an extra from markwise. Thanks, Mark! A rarity! Pours a murky rusty red, glowing deep red in between, a small offwhite reddish head that dies to a film that clings to the edges, light lacing. Aromas are a mesh of sweet cherry juice, sour cherries, a touch of vinegar, vanilla, caramel. Lively fruity cherry juice, sweeter. Touch of cherry lozenge/cough syrup appeal. Initial is medium bodied, mesh of cherry juice, sweet cherries, tart cherries, caramel, toffee is gentler, as the cherries really dominate this brew. A touch of vinegar, vanilla, faint medicinal cherry quality, but it doesn’t really work it’s way to the focus. More background noise, a tasty brew that is more sweet slanted, but still has a nice tart quality. A touch of cough drop, but the real cherry juice and tart cherries make a focus, interesting contrast. Finish is lingering sweet and tart cherries. Not bad. A welcome surprise.
3.8Red in color. Heavy cherry nose. Almost like drinking a cherry soda. Tasty, but not terrific. Rated 3/27/10
3.2RBWG 2010. Hazed cherry with white head and lace. Sweet cherry aroma. Cherry flavor with not much sour and a paper taste. A bit thin and watery as well. Glad to have tried it though.
3.6Bottle shared by Rustyham and Legato. Pours reddish purple color with pinkish head. It smells like a cherry jolly rancher or cherry kool-aid. It tastes just like it smells. Very artificial, but if you want a sweet, fruity drink this is for you. Medium body with average carbonation. Thanks Nick and Chris.
3.4Sampled at RBWG 2010. Nice sour cherry in there, but in general quite sweet. Some sort of tannins going on in the background too.
3.712oz bottle from local store. Pours deep red with an off-white head. Nose is cherry, some vanilla, some funk, and vinegar. Flavor is similar with a battle ensuing between the sweet cherries and the rodenbach sour/ funky ale. Interesting take on this one.
3.0Pours a nice reddish brown. Aroma is full of fruit and malts. Big cherry flavor with hints of sour. A real good beer.
4.1Delicious, clean, thin cherry soda-like. Super fizzy and not as sweet as you would expect. I could imagine drinking this by the gallon. Bottle from Vintage Liquors, Miami.
3.2Bottle at RBWG. red body with a tiny white head. a little one the sweet side. bold cherry candy aroma, slightly tangy. enjoyed.
3.3Brownish amber body with no head. Aroma of sour cherry, sour patch kids, sugar and cherry. Flavor is sweet and sour with some cherry candy. Almost artificial. Sweet finish, no tartness.
3.5Bottle, thanks to TampaBrew for sharing. Poured a darkish red color with thin pink head. Big cherry nose. Medium body with decent carbonation. Flavor is cherry candy, lots of ripe cherry notes and quite a bit of residual sweetness balanced slightly by a gentle tartness. Definitely tastes like a New Glarus clone. Finishes sweet.
4.1Pours a dark red. Nose is HUGE fresh cherries, mild tartness, sweet malt. Flavor is all cherry with mild acidity. Full body with active fizzy carbonation. Perfeect balance of sweet and tart makes this unbelievably drinkable. This really reminds me of New Glarus Belgian Red. An absolutely excellent fruit beer. I need to stock up on this one. Vastly under-rated too.
1.9This poured a dark mahogany color with an off white pinkish head. Aroma was tart moldy cherries and some funk. Flavor was like straight vinegar with small hints of cherries, not good, maybe infected.
3.233 cL bottle at Kulminator. Pours unclear dark redish with a smallpink head. Aroma is crisp almondish and citric/sweet cherry fruity. Candy sweet cherry fruity. Sugarish and cherry fruity flavoured into the far finish. Candy in a bottle.
3.8Bottle pour.Hazy red color with a slight head.Strong cherry nose with some vinegar hints.Tastes like cherries tart/sour/sweet.Nice lingering cherry finish.Really enjoyed this its too bad I can’t get anymore around here.
3.8Had this at a friend’s house last night. It was a bottle he had cellared for a few years. Colour... light amber and slightly cloudy with no head at all. Nose... kirschwasser, cherry skins, yeast and sugar. Palate... very little carbonation but fabulously fresh cherry for a beer of its age, redolent of maraschino and sweet, yet tart, pie cherries which lingered nicely on the finish. This has held up remarkably well! Reminiscent of a New Glarus Belgian Red but not as fresh or complex.
3.4Source: 300 mL bottle.
Glass: Flute.
Appearance: Hazy red pour with a one finger pink head.
Aroma: Sour cherries and vinegar.
Flavor: A bit medicinal, with both sweet and sour cherries.
Palate: Medium body with solid carbonation.
Overall: Not my favorite. Worth a try though.
3.4Bottle at Kurt.
Hazy red. Aroma moderate malty (cherries). Flavor moderate sweet and acidic. Light body.
4.0Bottle. Aroma of sweet and sour cherries, really smells like pretty natural cherries to me, not at all medicinal, maybe sweetened, but still quite powerfully cherry. Flavor the same, sour cherries first, then balanced by sweet cherries, with notable Rodenbach acidity. Finish is again very tart at first, but a level of sweetness keeps it from being puckering, does actually have a Jolly Rancher character in the finish as Blaze312 said. With all due apologies to the purists, I very much enjoyed this one, whether it be beer, a beer drink, or something in between.
