3.6 Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a reddish brown with a frothy white head and lots of clingy lace. The aroma is ripe citrus, light floral, light herbal. The flavour is moderate bitter sweet with a smooth, rich, fruity, yeast, alcoholic, bitter hop, light chocolate palate and la ingering alcoholic bitter finish. It tastes much stronger than it is.
3.5 Cloudy rusty red/brown with frothy off white head. Dark fruit and grassy hops on the nose. Taste- the bitter grassy and slightly spicy hops hit you first followed by and fairly rich caramel molasses malt. Some raisiny plum fruit is also there too. Very nice ale.
3.6 This beer was interesting in the fact that the color was much different than other beers it was cloudy and light red. The beer was great and a nice mix of IPA and red ale.
3.9 On tap at Rogue in SF. Caramalt and c-hops in the aroma. Somewhat flat, almost cask-like mouthfeel. Solid malt backbone with American hop punch. Moderately high bitterness. Good!
3.4 Botella . @El Lúpulo Feroz, Oviedo 28/03/2015. Color ambar, aroma afrutado, resinosa. Cuerpo medio.
3.6 Bottiglia 33cl, comprata da Giangaspero e bevuta a casa. Ambrata scura con bella schiuma pannosa. Molto malto e poi luppolo. Buona
3.5 Amber / copper body with a thick, khaki hued, sea foam head. Aromas of bready malts, earthy hops, mineral water. Malt forward. Sourdough bread with notes of pine. Moderate bitterness. Medium bodied. Resinous hops linger on the palate. Pretty good.
3.6 Copper pour with thin white head. Aroma is malty, floral and citrus. Taste follows nose.
3.9 Beer number 5 at a BJs beer pairing. Very clean taste. Full bodied. Somewhat hoppy.
5.0 Piwo dedykowane Sigowi Hansenowi, kapitanowi łodzi rybackiej Northwestern. Łódź pojawia się w serii programów emitowanych przez Discovery Channel - Deadliest Catch. To w skrócie wyjaśnia nazwę piwa.
3.9 Found this randomly at a Meijer. It was the only bottle amongst other the other Rogue beers that Meijer sells. Quite a find. Pours a hazy brown with an off-white head. Aroma is dark fruit and caramel. Flavor is similar, but more muted, with a little sweetness and dry bitterness. Pretty smooth. Looking at it and smelling it I thought this was perhaps a Dubbel, but the flavor was different. Very interesting ipa. I enjoyed it.
3.7 I felt that this was a bit unbalanced and overly and unnecessarily bitter, without a promised hit of malt warmth. It pours a great colour, has a fantastic head, but I’m left a bit soft on taste and palate. It isn’t bad, it’s just not great.
3.6 On tap at Craft Cafe Imazato. Cap’t Sigs Deadliest Ale - a deep mahagoney brown. Soft cocoa & floral hops with some maltiness. The taste is sweetly malty with a fruity citrus. A clean finish. Not really complicated, a simple but enjoyable beer.
3.6 Esta cerveza tiene un color rojo intenso con una cabeza de color blanquecino. El olor es a malta, lúpulo, cítricos, pomelos y a hierbas. Sabor suave, amargor y fácil de beber.
3.1 "Nice aroma on this fresh. The flavor is not quite up to par but is still pretty decent. Decent amounts caramel and sweetish malt to back up ample hops......found myself wishing for more aromatics and classic IPA hopiness. A touch too much yeast and malt for my taste."
0.9 Tomada en botella de 66 ml. Sabor: maltosa. Aroma: débil. Color: marrón . poco lupulada .80 iBus.
3.3 Not usually a Rogue fan, but love this show so had to try the beer. Pours a red/brown and pretty clear. Small white fizzy head. Aroma of brown sugar, caramel, chocolate, and molasses. Taste was the same and pretty sweet. I would call this a red or amber ale, over an IPA.
3.7 Transfer from BA review on 1-4-13- Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance- Served an orange amber colored brew with a one finger tan head. The head faded rather fast to leave a decent level of lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell –The nose was light overall. There were notes of a piney and grapefruit nature as well as some sweeter aromas of caramel. Mixed with these was an even lighter roast and bread smell. Taste – The taste starts out more on the malty side. It is quickly joined by a sweet caramel flavor. Hops then start entering the taste profile. It starts with a more piney hop flavor after which a grapefruit citrus flavor comes to the tongue. By the end the hops have picked up quite a bit in intensity and end up leaving a rather satisfying pine, grapefruit and sweet but malty flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer was on the medium side in terms of its creaminess with a carbonation level that was moderate as well. The medium body and carbonation suited both the lightly sweet caramel and hoppier flavors of the brew quite well and gave a good easy drinking feel. Overall- A rather refreshing and tasty red with a good decent hop profile. It drinks quite easy and is one I could see myself going back to on more occasions. Give it a go if you get the chance.
4.3 On tap at the downtown brewpub. Pretty darn awesome...dark copper, translucent, with great lacing. There’s a good strong aroma, greapefruit-y hops forward but strong malt character that’s unexpected, especially the caramelized notes. I’ve never had this style before--I’m a fan!
3.9 Bomber. Rich aroma full of sugar, and molasses, like an American Strong. Completely muddy reddish brown, opaque. Thin off white head. Hoppy, rich, burnt sugar flavor. Quite tasty. One of the better brews I’ve had from Rogue of late.
4.2 On top of a dark and very hazy burgundy body sits a big rocky or frothy head. It is light tan in color and very clingy. Thick lacey patterns stick everywhere on the glass. The aroma has a heavy pine like hop presence right as I open the bottle. Underneath the bold hops are solid rich malty sweet notes. Up first on the tongue are nice piney hop flavor notes with some hints of herbal, almost tea like, hops. The rich sweet maltiness backs this hop bitterness up and offers a good solid bass of bready flavor and sweetness. The finish has a very slow herbal and citrus hops fade that lingers on the tongue. Its palate has a smooth yet lively texture.
3.4 Bottle @ unibaren. Clear amber, medium off white head, some lacing. Aroma, malty, caramel, hops, pine, citrus, sweet, chocolate. Taste, malty, bitter hops, pine, caramel, grapefruit. Slightly oily mouth feel.
3.1 Good IPA love its taste malt and chocolate good mix I will drink again and congratulate Rogue for the excellent brew
3.8 From the 650 ml. bottle. The pour is a medium to dark amber with a tremendous light brown milkshake-like foamy head. Moderate clarity. The aroma is of pine and earth with a sweet malt character interspersed. The body is medium to full and smooth. The taste begins with the caramel malts and quickly becomes a bolder hopped bitterness that lingers on the palate at the finish.
3.0 I'm going to assume this was a bad bottle... Amber brown pour with a large beige head. Butterscotch aroma. Crazy butterscotch/diacetyl flavour with some biscuity malt and hops underneath. Tastes like this would have been great if it wasn't full of diacetyl.
3.7 Pours a dark amber with great lingering head. Aromas of coffee and chocolate.. Piney hops too. Flavors are malt driven coffee and chocolate with a balanced bitterness. Nice.
3.6 22 oz bottler served in a Belgian snifter. Pours deep red-brown in color with a decent beige head. Spotty lacing. Rich aromas with roasted grains and hops in about equal measure. Floral, fruity and toffee notes. Flavor: has that characteristic Rogue hop flavor along with a rich dark malt mix. Mildly bitter. Feel: medium body; lively carbonation.
3.5 Sample at Flatlanders Beer Festival, Wpg. Definitely not an IPA, rather an India Red Ale as described. A red ale with more hops than normal is basically what this is. That being said, I could have been even hoppier for my liking, but overall it has a nice balance, though you can’t taste the 75 IBUs because of the malt balance. Still a very nice beer.
2.0 I had this on tap at Hangar on the Wharf, Juneau, AK. I had this in a pint glass. The appearance was a dark red to almost ruddy brown color with no head because it was a bar pour. There wasn’t any lacing either. The smell was a strong caramel maltiness with a subtle roasty/nuttiness running in and out of the aroma. The taste was a caramel malty sweetness that gave me a dry roasted nutty aftertaste and lead to a super dry finish. On the palate, it sat about a medium on the body. To be honest, there really wasn’t much sessionability about it. I found when I tried to sip this, I burped a lot so once again the carbonation seemed off I guess. Overall, this is an American Red Ale, so not or anywhere close to an IPA. Therefore this was rated as an American Red Ale and actually, I didn’t really care for this.
3.6 My first and probably only crab IPA ;). Intensive fruity aroma, mostly of plums. Head disappearing to ring. Cloudy dark copper body. Medium intensive bitterness in taste with dried plums from hops. A lot of malty sweetness balances bitterness.
