Rogue Farms Good Chit Pilsner

Rogue Farms Good Chit Pilsner

Formerly Chatoe Rogue Good Chit Pilsner.
Good Chit Pilsner is made with Rogue Farm barley that we Floor-Malted in small batches. Floor Malting is an old fashioned, 8 day process that includes steeping, germination, raking, roasting, bagging and hands-on love 24 hours a day. "Chit" refers to the start of the rootlets that emerge from the embryo of the kernel once steeping is complete and germination begins.

2.9 A bready, yeasty malt and noble hops notes of grass and peach. Very smooth and drinkable and fairly traditional.
3.6 As Chatoe Rogue Good Chit Pilsner, older bottle tasted at Delirium Hoppy Loft. Very stable and lacing, yellowish white, moussy head, cloudy ochre blonde colour. Aroma of a lot of ’noble’ hops, grass, white pepper, orange zest, unripe peach, bread, apple peel, hint of limoncello. Malt fruitiness in the mouth, bits of apple and pear, soft grainy and bready middle phase with powdery yeastiness increasing in the end, where a long, drying, grassy and peppery hop bitterness manifests itself. Very interesting interpretation of Pilsener but unfiltered, so from a purely technical point of view, this seems closer to a Keller- or perhaps even Landbier.
3.6 Very pale yellow pour, decent to thin white head. Nose is a combo of Pils malt and floral hops. Bitter. Middle is bread and damp grass. Medium bodied. Finish is more hop bitterness. Nice.
3.6 Poured from bottle. Aroma of of bread and grass. Pours a slightly hazy pale with white head. Has a light bitter taste. Medium bodied with thin texture. A nice pils.
3.4 Bomber from the fridge, Lancaster pa. Pours an unfiltered cloudy yellow, Nice for a Pilsner! Rogue beers always have a unique flavor to me. I can never quite put my finger on it, but I know it when I taste it. This Pilsner has lots of flavor and personality. The usual straw Pilsner taste with a bit of hops in the background, but the unfiltered nature gives it an extra flavor that is hard to quantify. Recommended
3.3 (Bottle) Pale yellow, bubbling body with a small white head. Strong floral aroma; toast, nutty, fruit (banana, pear). Medium body. Flavor is sweet, honey, some citrus rind.
3.1 [7381-20150714] Tap. Mild grassy wet graham crackers and grapes aroma. Clear, pale orange body with a medium-lasting creamy white head. Light bitter toasted straw grains and wet crackers flavour. Medium body has an odd tang. Average. (6-/3/6/3/13) 3.1~ (@ Bar Hop, Toronto, ON)
3.4 Pours a hazy straw color with a soapy white head. Notes of earth, sugar cereal, skunky hops, and green citrus.
3.0 22 July 2015, tap at Rogue Ales in Portland Airport. yellow, clear, some steady bubbles. served with a lemon wedge which i removed. nose is, obviously, lemon and sweet straw malt. thin body, mildly fizzy and mildly creamy. lemon juice, sweet, some straw malt, not bitter at all. actually nice. i think the lemon wedge probably made this better.
3.6 This beer pours cloudy and has a nice thick white head that is very light and foamy. Flavor is mildly hay and a bit grassy.
3.8 On tap @the bent elbow - taps a hazy pale gold with a bone white 2 finger cap that lasts well. Aromas of dusty biscuits, some floral and a hint of green apple. Bracing sharp and dry character - good balance in front like biting a biscuit stuffed with saaz cones - middle is a bit more complex with some yeasty estsrs and herbs - then finishes clean sharp and dry - still in good balance. A world class Pils.
3.5 Hob Goblin in Tokyo. Cloudy light straw color with white head. Malty aroma with herbal hops. Sweet light malt flavor with a herbal citrusy flavor , slight yeastiness. Low to moderate hoppy bitterness in finish.
3.6 Draught at ACBE. Nice pils with a crisp biscuit malt and green hops balance. A solid brew from an always solid brewery.
3.5 Draught via rattle. Poured clear gold, hints of sweet malt and straw. Pretty decent. ..
3.4 Bottle. Pours clear golden in color with a fluffy whitish head. Grassy notes, fresh summer meadow and bit of herbalness in aroma. Some grainy notes are there too. Bittersweet taste. There’s some lemon and malty notes later on.
4.2 A solid wonderful pilsner. Great flavor. Slightly sweet. Not the best out there, but at the high end for sure.
4.1 First beer at a BJs pairing dinner. This is what a pilsner should be. Noble hops. Light body, but not water.
3.3 Clear golden pour with minimal white head. Aroma is sweet grain. Taste is mild malt and grain. Very dry.
3.0 ENG: 650ml bottle from Sherbrooke store in Edmonton. Color is very light-straw, a bit hazy with medium tan head. Quite saturated. Aromas of grass, malt, crackers, hops, a bit too soury. Taste is malty and peach with hints of hops and caramel. Some bitter aftertaste and smooth finish. Overall there’s no craze in it, it’s just a very refreshing beer, great for summer time. ///~~~/~~~/// ///~~~/~~~/// PL: Butelka 650ml kupiona w Sherbrooke w Edmonton. Jasna, słomkowa, nieco mętna - opalizująca barwa ze średnią jasną pianą. Dość nasycone. Aromaty trawy, słodu, krakersów, chmielu, nieco zbyt kwaśne. Smak słodowy z dodatkiem brzoskwini i nutami chmielowymi i karmelowymi. Nieco goryczkowy posmak ale delikatny, gładki finisz. Podsumowując nie ma tu szału, jest to po prostu bardzo orzeźwiające, lekkie piwo, idealne na lato.
3.3 I feel this could have been a bit better, but not too bad for an American pils. Average crackery aroma and taste, veru grainy, not enough snap in the hops. Decent body and finish, nice pour
2.7 As a Czech guy I had few pilsners with traditionally floor malted grains. However never enjoyed grassy to floral hops in Pilsner. If Rogue uses his own grains and malting methods than I am missing a fuller body.
3.7 Transfer from BA review on 5-2-14- Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – The beer is served a lightly hazed golden yellow color with a one finger head of billowy white foam. The head fades rather quickly leaving a fantastic level of foamy lace rings on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is heaviest of a bready and cracker like smell mixed with some light sweetness of a peach and apple nature. Along with these smells are a bit of hay and grass as well as some aromas of a more floral nature. Taste – The taste begins with a crisp bready and more biscuit like flavor with some light fruit flavors of pear and a bit of peach. Right from the start there is a bit of earthiness that persists throughout the taste. A hint of caramel develops later in the tongue, but some of the fruit flavors are lost, with the flavor remaining overall very crisp. Some other hop flavors of a floral and grassy nature join the tongue later on as the taste advances. Some light grainy flavors and a some more fruity flavors come to the tongue at the very end, sweetening the taste a touch and mingling with the rest of the flavors to still leave a very nice crisp and refreshing taste on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thinner side with a carbonation level that is on the higher side. Both are fantastic for the moderately drier, crisp, and refreshing taste of the brew and create a nice overall feel. Overall – A rather tasty and refreshingly crisp brew. Great for the summertime and a nice one to try if you get a chance.
3.5 Cloudy light straw color with white head. Malty aroma with herbal hops. Sweet light malt flavor with a herbal citrusy flavor , slight yeastiness. Some hoppy bitterness in finish.
3.2 "a nice, semi-sweet, grassy pilsner. the only odd thing about the Rogue variations is that the body seems a little...idunno...thick? for the style. not bad, just not typical. pretty nice beer with a crisp finish. i don’t buy too many $6 pilsners, though. A one timer."
3.3 Pours clear yellow with thin head. Smells or corn and grain. Light hoppy taste with thin palate. Very sessionable.
3.7 Bottle from Whole Foods in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is sweet corn, grass and honey. Taste is wheat grass and honey. Refreshing up front, a little sweet on the finish.
3.2 On tap at the airport. Pours a clear yellow color with a small white head. A light grainy nose. Pils malt, sweet, honey. Ok. A bit thin. Clean and drinkable.
3.3 Bottle - 650ml. Hazy blond body with an average, white foamy head. Decent malty/hoppy aroma with grainy and some piney hints. Its fresh hoppy aroma carries malty, grainy, coriander and citrusy notes. Ends with a good bitter/herbal finish. Interesting.
2.3 pours a bright screaming yellow with low head. well its like a pilsner. Mmm bud. Corn and sweet malts with no character. Like a stronger bud.
2.3 Pours a golden yellow color with a clean corn malt aroma. This beer is a bit watery, with a light malt flavor. Easy drinking, and simple beer. Good for those hot days when all you want is a decent pilsner.
