Rogue Farms Pumpkin Patch Ale

Rogue Farms Pumpkin Patch Ale

Formerly Chatoe Rogue Pumpkin Patch Ale.

The newest addition to the Chatoe Rogue series is Pumpkin Patch Ale, a beer made using fresh pumpkins grown in a patch that borders Rogue’s 42 acre hop yard. The pumpkins are picked, loaded into Rogue’s farm truck, driven immediately 77 miles to our brewery in Newport, quickly roasted, and pitched into the brew kettle to create a batch of Pumpkin Patch Ale.

3.4 Pretty decent stuff. Caramelish sweetness and loads of pumpkin pie like spices. Not revolutionary, but quite dead on.
3.7 Nicely made pumpkin beer. The pumpkin flavour is clean and relatively strong, a little artificial tasting, maybe due to filtering. Bottle in Sk.
3.4 Appearance: clear medium amber with a thin beige head that retains poorly, no lacing. (3/5) Aroma: cinnamon, nutmeg, vegetal pumpkin, caramel and brown sugar. (7/10) Taste: moderate-high sweet, moderate bitter. (7/10) Medium body, lively to moderate carbonation, slightly sweet medium duration finish. (3/5) Yeah, yeah - another punkin ale. Hey, I figured that since I love to hate on both the brewery and the style, it’s win-win either way: either I get to complain about one or the other (or both), or I get a good beer. And, it’s actually (sorta kinda) a good beer. So, I guess I’m vaguely disappointed that I don’t get to complain. Can I complain about that? Seriously, not bad - definitely as much vegetal pumpkin as spice character, and although it’s sweet it’s at least somewhat balanced by the bittering. I’ve had a lot worse examples of the style, and not many better. (14/20)
3.2 Relatively subtle. Overall decides to go more vegetal in its aroma and flavors instead of sweeter and spicier. Decent but not overly impressive.
3.5 Draught at Rogue, San Fransisco. Clear derp copper beer with a decent beige head. Fruity spicy aroma, grapes, citrus, some cinnamon. Cinnamon flavor, raisins, close, some earthy notes. Ok.
4.3 B. Pours a clear copper color with white head. Spicy aroma and pumpkin spice beer
3.8 This beer doesn’t taste like a pumpkin beer so much as it does an Oktoberfest kind of beer. It’s very autumnal and a little spicy, which is nice, but I don’t get much by way of pumpkins. Still very enjoyable and very smooth.
3.4 Copper color with a pumpkin spice aroma. Not a lot of carbonation. Sweet taste with some bitterness in the finish from the spices.
3.6 Pours a deep slightly hazy orange with a creamy off white head. Aroma has some subtle pumpkin notes with most of the standard spices, cinnamon, nutmeg. Flavor starts with the same, a little vegetable-y with some spiciness, a bit on the potpourri side with a sweet finish. Medium body and a soft carbonation.
4.0 Pours pumpkin pie color with a bubbly head, and has a similar color. Taste wasn’t what I expected. I wanted something candy sweet, but it simply wasn’t so. Not bad. Tasted of graham crackers, malt, roasted pumpkin seeds. Had a medium mouthfeel. Overall I’m not knocking it, it’s just not what I expected. The price is insane.
3.7 Pour a clear dark amber with a tall foamy light beige head initially. The head reduced in a minute or 2 to just about 1/4". The aroma of the beer was very good. The aroma was pumpkin pie. Nice scents of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and graham cracker crust. The flavor was again pumpkin pie in a glass. The flavor was very smooth and slightly sweet. Flavors of pumpkin pie, nutmeg, and graham cracker. The finish was very mild and mellow with a hint of sweetness.
3.6 pours a clear golden amber. Aromas of all spice, nutmeg, a touch of pumpkin. Nice spicy taste with pumpkin notes.
3.4 Pours a cloudy orange, with a good whitish tan head. Aroma of malts and pumpkin. Tastes of pumpkin and spice. Very smooth and drinkable. This is a very nice pumpkin ale. Thumbs up.
4.0 Лучшая тыква, которую я когда-либо пил. Сбалансировано, вежливо, мягко и насыщено.
3.2 This beer was very good it was smooth and had a very nice distinct flavor that I could really enjoy!

3.1 75 cl bottle. Pours dark orange with a small white head. Aroma is nutmeg and sweet caramelish. Cookies, nutmeg and caramelish. Toasted and spiced. Dry and cookie spiced finish.
3.7 One more brew at Stagshead a late season pumpkin. Orange pour beige head. Nose is pumpkin spice and some pie filling. Tastes of cinnamon, nutmeg, all spice, cloves, pumpkin, malt. Medium bodied pretty much all you could want from pumpkin ale.
3.2 Good flavor for an ale, on the light side for a pumpkin beer, understandable for the style. Mild aroma with a strong ABV for an ale. Drank from orange pint bottle chosen by a pumpkin beer fan friend.
3.5 Copper pour. Nose of fruity pumpkin, caramel, and mild diacetyl. Flavor of chewy caramel and fruity pumpkin. Not sure if this one has spices added, but very faded if they were. Faint butter. Slick. Not bad.
2.8 Bottle, thanks to Dan, SX Bottle Share, Chelmsford, Essex, 1st December 2015. Hazy and well-carbonated. Copper-bronze appearance. White lacing. Huge pumpkin seed aroma. Some spices and spruce. Taste is a clean English bitter base with a lot of pumpkin. For pumpkin beer this is ok.
3.3 Draft. Deep dark amber color, tan head. Aroma of gourd > spice. Taste has pumpkin, Graham cracker. Nice.
3.8 750 ml bottle. Clear deeper orange copper, tan foam settles quickly and mostly fades. Spiced roasted pumpkin aroma. Taste is toasty pumpkin, semi-sweet caramel malt, baking spices. Average carbonation, light-medium bodied, lightly hopped. Better than most. LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)
3.4 From bomber pint. Spices caramel yeast. Sweet, medium carbonation. Okay. Typical pumpkin beer.
3.8 Bottle at home. Aroma is light roasted notes, earthy pumpkin, lightly spiced. I think the best thing about this beer is that you can actually taste the pumpkin in it. Not the spices or added "pumpkin" flavors, but real, roasted pumpkin that has a roasted, earthy flavor. Not too sweet and spiced just right. Good stuff.
