4.6 This beer is fantastic. I love the fresh green hop aroma and flavor. I am not usually a fan of Rogue beers, but this shows that they can produce a winner. Great beer, for sure.
2.8 22oz bottle. Poured a dark orange with a large foamy white head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was earthiness, spicy hops and caramel. The flavor was sourish, astringent and made it quite hard to finish. Almost like a chemical cleaner was added. Probably up there with one of the worst wet hop brews I’ve had.
3.6 Sampled on 10/13/2012 at GABF. This India Pale Ale pours a slightly hazy medium yellow gold color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is herbal, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied India Pale Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are herbal and citrusy. Nice carbonation. Nice lingering hop bitterness. All those Fresh hop flavors. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
3.3 On tap at The Hoppy Monk in El Paso, TX. Very bitter but didn’t have much substance to the flavors...not complex. I tried next to 2-3 other IPA’s and this one didn’t have the floral or general pine quality compared to the others. It was good, but not great.
3.7 10/29/12. On tap at Kickback’s. Hazy orange pour with a nice khaki head. There is some light caramel in the aroma with a bitter dose of pine and citrus. Nicely bitter, hoppy flavor again with citrus and pine. It dries the palate out for sure. Not bad, actually.
2.5 Love the aroma and appearance. The flavor is great and then dissipates into thin air...not a lasting flavor and I wish it was.
3.3 Had at the 2012 Denver Rare Beer Tasting in Denver, Colorado. Has subtle hop scents, has quite a bitter hop flavor, not much else.
2.7 Pour at the Denver Rare Beer Tasting IV. Appearance is hazy orange with a huge white head. Very muted aroma, with light grass and straw. Taste has light touches of resin, biscuit, weed, and bread. Medium body with light carbonation. Pretty weak beer.
3.4 Clear copper, nice white head. Very spicy, piney aroma, very full bodied. Flavor is very hop forward, lots of resin and pine, plus some floral notes. Some earthy, malty flavor n the background. On tap, Bearden Beer Market.
3.8 Capped 750 from Made In Oregon. "Brewed with Freedom Hops" Pours hazy dark orange/amber with a 3 finger creamy/frothy beige head. Aroma is earthy/floral hop over some roast caramel. Full bodied. Flavor is earthy/floral, maybe with some citrus. Pretty earthy! It’s not burning, or not very, but it’s hoppy as all get out. Damn hoppy. Brilliant effing ale.
3.2 Bottled@PBF2012. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, floral and mild sweet malty notes. Flavour is fruity, wooden, herbal and mild maltyness. Quite big on the bitter finish.
3.9 Poured from a bomber into a pint glass. Dark amber, almost brown color. A good inch of dirty white head. Lots of bubbles. Not quite transparent. Smell: Very fragrant. Sharp citrus and softer floral smells. Moderate hop bitterness. The different flavors of the hops roll over my tongue in waves. The malt and hops battle it out at first with some nice sweetness followed by the bitterness... and then more hops. It is quite nice. Going towards a softer feeling. Not as carbonated as all the bubbles suggested; moderate carbonation and body. Very drinkable. I would have to concentrate but I think I can taste each of the five different hops as they flow across my tongue. Great use of the hops without going into the "hop bomb" mode.
3.7 Heavy flavored with a metallic, bubblegummy note. Heavy hoppy aroma with notes if nuts and birch.
3.8 draught@Erzbierschof’s bar - quite clear red-orange beer with a solid quite chaotic pale beige foam; a fair hoppiness showing notes of herbs with red fruits in the background; a solid malt backbone and gently sticky; a light juicy sweetness soon overwhelmed by a robust herbal bitterness; very long herbal and gently fruity hoppy finish - pretty original
3.4 Draft @ Ørsted Ølbar, Copenhagen. Pours a hazy orange color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy earthy aroma. Fruity malty hoppy grassy bitter flavor. Has a fruity malty hoppy bitter finish.
3.5 Draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen. Amber beer, ok head. Citrus aroma, some spices, some grapefruit. Citrus flavor, floral notes, metal, fruits. Quite a drinkable beer.
3.3 On tap @ Mikkeller Bar. This is a cloudy almost glowing amber beer with a nice heavy lacing off-white head. It has a sweetish aroma with lots of tropical fruits, peach and hops. Nice enough. The mouthfeel is oily and it has a average carbonation level. Grassy and mild-hedge hoppy flavors here. It’s also on the border to sticky without being to sweet. Really grassy and almost pungent-bitter when it got some temperature. 06.01.2012
3.5 Tap @ Mikkeller Bar, Cph. Pours light hazy red-amber with a medium, creamy, off-white head. Aroma has red apples, Belgian sugar, caramel, peach, kiwi and pineapple. High carbonation, dry but a bit hin mouthfeel. Flavour is elegantly bitter, piney, some apple, some resin. A bit sharp overall, though it has pleasantly balanced bitter resiny finish.
3.2 On tap. Opaque amber with a dense and lacing off-white head. Dusty, chalky aroma. Surprisingly light in body, extremely dry and again this strange note of dusty chalk. Bitter indeed but not in any aromatic way. Mediocre. 060112
3.9 31-DEC-2011, growler @home. Amber, lasting beige head and laces. Hoppy with orange peel, grape fruit, and pine. Long and bitter taste. Lovely bitter and malty. Very smooth. Growlers are too small:-)
3.6 650ml bottle pours a pale amber color with a finger of off-white head that settles to some thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is light caramel and cereal grains with citrus and spicy hops. Taste is light caramel sweetness with some citrusy hop bitterness and a bit of peppery finish. An enjoyable easy to drink IPA which would be ok to drink all night long.
3.7 Bottle. Moderate to heavy malt notes of cereal, roasted, nutty and caramel, light to moderate orange for the hops, dough for the yeast, with hints of date and honey or brown sugar sweetness. Head is small, fizzy/frothy, off-white with some slippery lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is muddy, medium red/brown. flavor starts moderately sweet and light to moderately acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and acidic and lightly to moderately bitter. Palate is medium, oily with a lively carbonation. Damn good beer. Mabye not so true to style of an IPA because of the balance leaning toward the malt presence, but it’s both smooth and tasty.
3.4 Draught at Ørsted Ølbar. Hazy orange-red coloured with a small off-white head. Fruity aroma of hops, caramel and grass. Fruity flavour of hops, caramel, grass and grape fruits. Dry hoppy finish.
3.0 Nose is some leaves, quite fresh bittersour hops, weak menthol, feel is mediumbroad, carb is quite heavy, taste is heavy bitter hops, medium rosehip and red grape, later bile,
3.9 Draft. A hazy red beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of spicy, fresh hops, combined with toffee and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of spicy hops, alfa acids, malt, and caramel, leading to a bitter finish. Nice.
3.5 Draught at Ørsted Ølbar. Clear dark amber - white head. Amber malts. Nice bitterness. Chocolate. Fruity. Citrus. Grape fruits. Grassy. Nutty. Light sparkling. Medium malty. Knækbrød. Nice.
3.4 From tap at Ørsted Ølbar. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is fruity and light peachy to grapefruity hoppy. Toasted malty, caramelish and pinewood hoppy. Bitter and raher dry. Toaste malty and bitter dry finish.
3.0 doesn’t seem so american..more english in sensibility. There is very little aroma...only grassy dry earth lightly floral hints. The taste is immediately bitter which lingers with the sticky residual sugars though it seems dry and biscuity between. There is an astringency in there that is nice. Still it is fresh and has nice overall body and arc that works. Very drinkable
3.3 The pour is a hazy light copper with a finger of light beige head with decent lacing. Nose is as malty as hoppy, with biscuity and caramel notes Predominant citrusy and herbal hops with some other light fruits. Taste is quite sweet, with a mild hop bitter finish. Not much an IPA overall, but very drinkable.
3.0 22 oz. bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a small beige head. The aroma is dry and biscuity with a mild level of sweetness. A slight floral quality comes through as well. The flavor is more dry biscuity malt, a splash of honey and caramel with some grassy hops. Where are the flavoring hops? This is pretty weak overall.
