4.0Smeared medium darkened gold. Small puffy cap of white froth sits briefly before shrinking down to leave its always present boken skim and thin collar. Lacing is minimal is thin strings and some tiny spotting.
Aroma is dry, pale, and bready with an herbal-esk grass tone. Pilsner-type Munich malts and hops make it unique through and through and its a favorably medium in strength as it doesn’t take much wiffing to grab the nose.
Pilsner-like taste too. A sense a theme here; the Munich malts are forward and set with a dry, pale, bready quickness. A breeze of honey sweetness creeps through just past midway along with a tiny bit of hops. Gradually gets less pale and dry as in grows into the finish. Adding more intertwined sweetness build up to help balance out the finish. The finish is tender and medium in length. Quite subtle with soem dry yeasty woodish notes floating around in there too.
Feel is solid within a medium body and a lower carbonation. When warm that is. The warmer the better for this to have in a glass then cold. Let it sit a good while then imbibe. Much more subtle and tender when wamed up a bit. Smooth and easy with just enough body, flavor, and interest to keep it, well... interesting.
2.8tap - Pours golden and smells sweet. The flavor is mostly malt as I expected with a touch of honey. The body is too thin and overall it’s too light for my tastes, but not bad for what it is.
3.3A light golden cream ale. Simply put as having a full honey aroma and slight in the finish. Very refreshing beer.
3.1Draught at Rogue Ales Public House in San Francisco, CA. Hazy yellow color with white head that laced the glass. Grainy, fruity aroma and flavor. Slightly sweet with a distinct touch of honey.
3.2Golden color with slight haze and small white head. Grainy malt and slight sweet citrus aroma. The taste has a nice grain malt flavor throughout the taste profile. There is also a sugar based creaminess midway that approaches a cream soda flavor. There is a light hop bitterness as well.
3.0First cream ale for me. It was interesting enough. Hazy orange gold with a small white head. Oddly indeterminate aroma. I wouldn’t have said cream and honey if I hadn’t read the label. Same with the flavour: oily mouthfeel that I suppose did have hints of creaminess; the rest was grassy with a pleasant dry finish. Overall quite good.
2.7The aroma has citrus, basement smells, butter, and light honey; basically it’s funky. The appearance is orange/gold with brown particles floating in the head. The flavor has honey, butter, malt, and some hop bitterness. The palate is average. This is not my favorite Rogue.
3.0This one didn’t stand out, but I probably shouldn’t have had it within 20mins of the DFH 120 DIPA. Either way, not much there in appearance (somewhat hazy yellow, slight orange), aroma, or flavor (I picked up the honey). Mouthfeel was dry and very light. Not enough umph in this one.
3.1Cloudy Orangey brown, with virtually no head. Floral, honeyish aroma, with notes of applesauce and vanilla. Some hop flavor, then an understated honey flavor. Tasty, would make a good first beer of the evening.
3.3There is not much else to say about this that the commercial description does not speak of. A very smooth and malty cream ale, with obvious hints of sweet flowers and honey. A rich maltiness, that is very smooth and creamy, this is very easy to drink.
Earlier Rating: 7/23/2003 Total Score: 2.9
Malts and honey as an afterthough and slightly in the aftertaste. Not very reminiscent of a cream ale and my first disappointment from Rogue.
3.3Cloudy golden color. Malt aroma. Malt and wet malt taste, roasted malt, quite strong ending bitterness. Honey?
2.6Bottle. Slightly hazy golden body with a moderate creamy white head. Sort of an odd aroma, fruity sort of funky vegetal notes underneath. Flavour is lightly malty with minute amounts of honey. Pale malts. Average Palate. Ok but a bit dull overall.
3.065cl bottle from Utobeer. Not sure what I expected this to be. Golden with thin off beige head. Distinctive Rogue hop aroma. Citric. Bit more toffee whisky on aroma. OK in mouth. Nice toffee/hop finish. Sweetish in mouth, Still attack of hops on end. Fine, but after the hop and toffee it doesn’t go anywhere
3.0Bottle: This actually has a honey-gold color, but little aroma. It is smooth to drink and has a nice sweet and crisp essence, but I don’t think in a blind taste test I would’ve come up with honey. Pretty good, but one of the more disappointing offerings from Rogue.
1.6This beer was a bit of a disappointment. No honey or cream taste whatsoever. I was hoping for a rather unique flavor, but that didn’t happen! Tasted like a cheap beer.
2.9Bottle- Hazy yellow pour with a fizzy and large white head. Aroma is mostly hops and grass. No honey that I can detect. Bitter hops flavour, again no honey. Dry as all get out, and not too bad, just lacks complexity, and is very, very one dimensional. Add actual creaminess, and some honey, and you’d have a 3.5 average rating at least.
3.6I disagree with the "retired" label applied to this because of the quantity I have just experienced. Just had this in the Franklin, TN Mellow Mushroom. 22oz bomber. Hazy color, great flavor. Definately some nut, mostly hazy. I enjoyed it very much. Definately some hop bitterness in the finish. I’ll be going back soon to have another!
3.1pours a light orange cloudy color. With a whitish head. A little honey smell and tast. overall fair
4.1This has Officially become my A #1 BEST BREAKFAST BEER!!
Nothing beats a chilled Rogue Honey Cream for breakfast.
Abandon the bacon and eggs; have some double deuces of the honey cream instead.
It does a body good.
The Rogue Honey Cream is the color of clover honey and with an aroma to match; this beer is remarkably easy to drink. The subtle honey flavor is slightly reminiscent of Bärenjäger, without being too overbearingly sugary sweet or potent.
The swill of this beer is fantastic! Easy enough to ignore, complex enough to scrutinize and best of all fit for mass consumption!
The label could use some help.
Forget Wheaties.
The Rogue Honey Cream ale is the True Breakfast of Champions!
2.7Bottle. Cloudy orange colour with an off-white head. Weak sweet aroma of hops and honey. Sweet malty flavor with hints of caramel and honey. Thin mouthfeel with hints of honey.
2.6Cloudy orange colour with an off white head. Malty and sweet aroma with a light fruity and caramel note. Caramel sweet malty flavor with a light hoppy citric.
2.0Bottle. Orange colour with a white head. Light sweet honey, hop aroma and a sweet thin honey taste. Light body with a dry finish.
2.6Pours a hazy amber with an off white head. Port like smell. Sweet with some sourness. Couldn´t spot any honey. Smooth but rather thin mouthfeel. Boring.
3.1Bottle.
Cleargolden coloured with an off white head.
Sweet aroma of hops and honey.
Sweet flavour of fruits, hops and honey.
2.4(Bottle 65 cl) Hazy pale amber with a small, off-white head. Very vague aroma that may contain a wee whiff of hops. Very light-bodied with very vague accents of bittering hops but otherwise completely neutral and bland. I do not detect any honey whatsoever. 270106
2.7bottle. This is pretty cloudy and resmebles thin honey in appearance with a fair white head. The aroma is sweet of honey, some corn, and papery hops. Flavor is more of the same: honey, bland hops, a little plasticity all in a rather watery ensemble. There’s really nothing special here. C’mon Rogue, I expect more from you.
2.8"Ho hum, this is just a beer. Poured hazy yellow color with little head. Only aroma i got was honey as with the flavor. Tasted watered down, dry mouthfeel"
3.1Golden ale with a thin white head. Nice caramel malt aroma, faint hops. Rather pleasant bready malt, rosewater notes. Very fresh tasting. Light bodied. On tap at Rogue Ales Public House, SF, August 2005.
3.4Bottle (at World Market, a suprisingly good store here in Lawrence!). Pours a very nice light amber color, but kind of a too soapy/foamy head that was a just off white color. The aroma is soft and sweet, some light hops, but some crisp malt aromas. The flavor was light a touch of hops, some malts, a touch of honey and great mouthfeel.
3.1Bottle shared with tupalev -- courtesy of tupalev. This should be interesting, two of the shittiest kinds of beer (Honey and Cream) together at last! Pours a clear dark orange with a big white rocky head. Aroma and flavour of malt and light hops, maybe a bit of honey in there. Flavour is mediocre by Rogue standards. It’s decent enough I guess.
