2.8 Herber, etwas wässriger Beginn. Geringe Bitterkeit, nur sehr leicht hopfig, leider etwas metallern zum Schluss. Ein immerhin trinkbares, nicht komplet laffes Lager. 7/8/9/9/9/9
3.4 Brilliant golden color. A slight chill gave my taster a really pleasant quality on a blistering hot day. Really refreshing, but fairly forgettable. Had on tap at Lansdale Beer Fest.
3.6 Originally reviewed: 11/2/11. A friend brought this over to the house last weekend for our annual pumpkin-carving-beer-tasting party. Split and poured into a mug. This beer pours a dark amber/orange with a thick bone-white head on top. A fair amount of lace left behind after each sip. The nose is sweet with caramel, pale fruits, and faint floral tones. Good body as the carbonation bulks this up a bit. Moderate chew to it. Sweet caramel malty flavors start things out, but then a refreshing hoppy bite closes it out. I like that interplay with the hops. Nice refreshing Marzen that I will gladly have again. Thanks, Jared!
3.0 Finally decided to pick this one up on a lager-rush. The nose was full of toffee and yeast with loads of honey and bread notes. The taste followed - lots of malts and toffee with a dry finish. Hops are in the aftertaste for a crisp overall palate. Perdy’ good but not a prime example of a Marzen by far.
3.0 Bomber, courtesy of Dad, shared with my brother. Pours dark yellow and gold with hints of red, with a 2-finger white head. Aromas of sweet wheat, grass, and raisin; light malty fruitiness throughout. The flavor is sweet, with plenty of sugary caramel and red fruit, and light grassy bitterness. Pretty drinkable. [1042]
3.1 A hazy, yellow-orange pour with a thin white head. The aroma is fairly mild with some faint bread and orange. The light body has a thin texture with average carbonation. The taste falls more on the sweet side and has a semi-dry finish.
3.3 This Märzen pours a hazy deep gold to amber color. The nose is very malty with toffee and a little citrus. The Taste starts with Biscuity malt, toast and hard toffee flavors and ends with moderate citus/floral bitterness. Slightly warming alcohol in the finish.
2.3 not impressed with this beer at all. very little to the aromas and not much more in the flavors. bland taste of berries and old honey.
2.9 Tasted at NYC Craft Beer Festival. Crystal clear amber. Aroma is citrus and grain. Tastes of stale roasted corn, some citrus, not much, harsh lager finish.
3.5 $5.49 @ Gary’s beverage, Portsmouth, NH. No born on date or ABV printed anywhere on label. Nice gold color with soft carbonation in a lager glass. Minimal head or lace. Aroma of grass and sweet malt. Taste has malts that are sweet but not overwhelming. In the finish you get a German/ Euro hop bitterness that makes it a nicely balanced. Medium body. Has a nice, smooth/creamy mouthfeel with a short crisp finish. This was want I was thirsting for and it met my expectations. Nice Fest brew.
3.4 Pours copper with a tan head. Aroma is caramel, bread and grass. Taste is sweet with minimal bitters rounding out the finish. Medium mouthfeel and very smooth. Solid.
3.7 On tap at Mahars. A good kick to this oktoberfest. Aroma was strong and sweet, and the flavor had a great tart sweetness.
3.4 Bottle:   Coppery amber, translucent, moderate frothy white head, spotty lacing, light carbonation.   Malty nose, slightly mealy, some wet straw/hay.   Bright maltiness, soft caramel sweetness, with an underlying wet straw/hay.   Moderate body and mouthfeel, seems also to be fairly smooth.   Finishes semi-sweet, lingering mealiness albeit light.   Not bad.
1.7 BottlePours a lackluster cheddar orange with a nose of straight-up mash tun. Flavor is clean, almost non-existent Sprite hops quickly tempered by a liquid mash tun air freshener. Watery mouthfeel. Feels half-assed at best.
2.0 8/12/11 rogue maierfest lager... tap at papago. Hazy orange with a small white head. A is pils, butter and orange. Buttery orange pils flavor... Not happy with this... buttery, sweet and oily mf= bad okto.
3.6 On tap at Battleship. Pours a deep golden color. Aroma is of wheat, (typical american marzen faire), malts, and a little orange zest. Flavor is a little sweeter than I was expecting. Has some malts, wheat, yeast, and something sweet that I just can’t put my finger on. Maybe some prunes. Overall this wasn’t too bad of a brew.
2.6 Bottle, the bottle gave a good Pop! when opened, and the beer foamed up the neck afterwards, which got me thinking, this beer was really carbonated, this beer had a hazy orange pour with some burnt orange color at the sides, the pour made a huge foamy head of white and slightly off-white bubbles, the head on this beer looked very Belgian, big and foamy, and filled the glass almost to the top, effervescence looked strong with a fast flowing center stream and a couple of other bubbled streams elsewhere in the glass and lots of bubbles flowing just about everywhere in the glass, this beer left bubbled lacing of spots, fingers and covers on the sides of the glass (but what overly carbonated beer wouldn’t do that), I saw some particles in the glass, there was a thin, patchy area of sediment on the bottom of the bottle and loose sediment particles floating around, the beer still looked hazy after sitting around a bit (from the loose sediment in the bottle), the aromas were light toasted malt, light bready malts, faint citrus hops with hints of wildflowers in a field, the flavors were bread malt and light citrus hops, the finish had a carbonation bite with a little hop bitterness, the mouth feel was very bubbly with carbonation, too much carbonation to really enjoy this beer, light on the palate but that was because of the carbonation, it felt very fizzy on the palate, this beer could have been a nice drink but there was too much carbonation, I guess I got an over carbonated bottle? I may try another bottle from another store or wait until next year.
3.2 650ml brown bottle. Sticker on bottle says 5.6% abv. Golden in colour, light haze. White head is creamy and sits low. Minimal lace. Sweet nose, bready malts, light noble hops. Flavour has grains, bread, full maltiness, light herbal hops. Dry end, a little tangy, lingering grassy, herbal hop note. Light body, soft carbonation. Drinkable, nice malts.
3.0 Pours copper/orange with a one-finger off-white head and ok lace. Bread and caramel malts dominate the nose with very subtle hops notes. Bread and caramel flavors are more subdued as the bitter leafy hops come forward. Medium body, thin mouthfeel, and a well-balanced finished.
3.0 On tap at Nick’s Beergarden - Pours medium copper. Flavor is mostly all malt and slight sweetness. Malt flavor was mostly nutty. Moderate hop finish by lager standards. Decent, but not something I’d seek out again.
3.4 Draft. Poured a slightly hazy medium orange color with a thin white head. Medium bodied and slightly sweet. Spicy malt, cereal grain, noble hop. Simple, but nice.
3.3 Pours a light orange/golden color with a small head and little to no lacing. The smell is rather light and mild with cereal grains coming through lightly. Ever so slight hop presence and a lightly mild malt backbone. The flavor is not too bad with the hops coming through ok and a nice caramel malt backdrop.
3.4 bottled. Pours an orangey orange. Malt aroma. Caramel tastes with some sour notes. Mild hops. Good
3.3 Although I’m not a big Oktoberfest guy, I do love a yearly pint or two of Maierfest, a solid entry into the style. Grainy, semisweet and fruity, with a definite swipe of pilsner malt, pretty and very easy to drink. No frills, but then again, none are needed.
2.5 Churchkey, DC 14oz tap ($7): Pours your standard American Oktoberfest look, somewhat amber with an off-white head. Aroma is caramel malts and whatever. Taste is too sweet. This upset me, because I wanted a good quaffable Oktoberfest. Additionally, I seldom complain about sweet beers. So I don’t know what was the problem. All in all, I think that this was a second tier offering from Rogue and certainly a second tier oktoberfest; gimme Hofbrau Munchen or Spaten over this any day.
3.3 Poured a golden color. On draft at beernutz. Smaller head. Aroma of caramel malts and grains. Lite sweetness. Lite bitter. Slick texture. Smooth drinking, lighter octoberfest beer.
2.9 A fairly bland rogue beer. The pour is a golden straw with a light orange and thick foamy white head. The aroma is mostly grainy with a light german hops and some grass. Bland taste with a light grain and german taste. Overall, very boring beer.
3.4 This was a good German style Marzen. Very true to flavor and enjoyably easy drinking. Well done Rogue.
3.6 Pours a slightly hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet bready malt. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, wet grain, light hoppy bitterness.
3.4 Single bottle purchased on 04/05/2011. Colour: more orange than gold, slightly cloudy and low off-white head. Nose: Very metallic...but also extremely malty, and some root beer, dirty sock, warm and soggy vegetable. Not the best nose.... Taste: Medium sweet, light bitter, medium-light sour. Light chocolate brownie, fresh enriched white bread, turnip, oatmeal cookie late and just pure cookie dough on finish. All kinds of great stuff but never even close to overly sweet. Delicious stuff.. a complete 180 from the nose. A real mixed bag.
