3.6 2010 bottle - pours dark cloudy amber color. No head. Nose of brown sugar, malt, butter, and malt. very low in carbonation. Taste is of butterscotch, malt, some metallic components, and bitter orange.
2.3 Bottled 0,25L. Reddish braced color, poor head of short resistance and little bubbly aspect. Caramel and malty nose, modest notes of wood and alcohol. Unbalanced sweet start taste, mellow, solid and top heavy final.
3.4 11/29/2010: Rogue XS McRogue Scotch Ale... Aroma: Dark caramel, turbinado sugar, hint of roasted grain/chocolate. Appearance: Murky brown color; beige head that fizzles away quickly. Flavor: Malty and rich; caramelized malt and grain husks; hint of alcohol and chocolate; strong finish. Palate: Medium-full body; thick and a bit gritty; Overall: Good, but nothing special; WAY OVER-PRICED at $4.99+tax/nip-sized bottle. 7 fl. oz. bottle from Party Town in Florence, KY. Rating #272 for this beer.
3.0 Very sweet caramel aroma. Malty and sweet syrup flavor. some fruit overtones very rich like a triple without the strength. This one bottled 2010.
3.6 2010 7oz bottle A - Pours a murky brown with very little head. S - Big aroma of brown bread crust, some brown sugar, doughy yeast, rich caramel malt, moist raisin bread. T - A whisper of citrus bitterness upfront with waves of bready malt behind it. Caramel, toffee, brown sugar, raisins. Flavors seem to be thinned out. Alcohol comes through more on the finish. M - Heavy upfront but then it thins out on the backend. Low carbonation. I wish the flavor would have been as good as the nose. Flavor was thinner than I expected. Overall a pretty good sipper. 3.8 Pours amber with a tan head. Aroma of caramel malts, sweet fruit and roasted malts. Taste is the malts and grain.
3.5 Brown pour with white head. Aroma of large brown sugar and caramel. A dried fruit flavor and a light brown sugar. Light earthy hops and almost no bitter.
3.3 XS bottle. Pours deep amber. Big fruity, peach aroma. Taste is sweet peach, kind of jammy. Not bad and not what I expect fro ma scotch ale (which is good).
4.0 Pint on tap. Fantastic beer. Dark copper, clearish, no lacing. Great slightly sour aroma. Medium carbonation. Just warm and slightly alcoholic taste. Malty deliciousness in a strong beer? Yes, please!
2.6 Poured an intense murkey plum red. no head. smelled nice very sweet and bitter. Taste is a caramel bomb, undrinkable finish. Most likely would have been better fresh.
3.5 Pours a deep hazy copper from the bottle with little to no head or lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel malts, boozy sweet middle, and a hint of bready grain on the end, flavor follows, lots of booze, less scotch and more sweet whiskey. Decent, but not sure it’s worth the price.
3.2 Hazy orange pour no head. Very sweet aroma candy like. Very sweet malt no hops grainy. Has a smooth grainy sweetness more like an Irish whiskey than a scotch.
3.4 Draught @ GEIB, Grande Esposizione Italiane della Birra 2012, Nuova Fiera di Roma, via Portuense 1645, Rome, Italy 00100. Unclear medium amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, bread, caramel, light oxidide, moderate hoppy. Flavour is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a average duration, malty, caramel, hoopy. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20121214]
3.9 Bottle shared from Kris Wines. Pours cloudy brown with a ring tan head. Aroma of caramel, malt, cereal, overripe fruit and raisins. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light bitter. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Very nice!
3.5 small bottle courtesy of and shared with Kermis, thanks. Very thin whte head. Hazy red/amber pour. Lots of caramel. Nice brew.
2.9 Nip bottle from Elizabeth Station, Bellingham, WA Vintage 2010, 2 years old Brown color, with minimal head. The aroma is mild, of caramel, and already there are signs of oxidization. The mouthfeel is a bit oily, and the carbonation very low; some caramel flavor, some nutty accent; the quite evident oxidization and the very low bitterness don’t help either. I had similar Belgian beers, bottles that were 20-25 years old and still in better shape than this.
3.0 Pricey at $5 for a 7 oz. bottle, jeez. Pours amber with very little head. Strange aroma. Oyster sauce, tabasco, spaghettios, malt. Spaghettios for sure (wife confirms this). Flavor is nice, with a scotch and malt backbone on top if some sweet dark candy flavors and, yes, a sweet tomato-ey essence. Somewhat unique, but one of the funkiest smelling beers I have encountered. Medium slick mouthfeel, with some creamy finish. Not bad, but a little weird.
1.4 7 oz bottle, Whole Foods Columbus. Bottled in 2010. Medium dark brown; so much yeast it’s muddy and nearly opaque; absolutely no head; zero visible carbonation; quite unattractive. Smells of toffee and not much else. Taste is extremely weak; malt, virtually no bitterness but no zing whatsoever; bland. Medium-thick, almost completely flat. Tastes like bad amber ale homebrew and I’m extremely unimpressed. I strongly suspect this bottle was bad or stored improperly but I don’t have another one to rate, so this is it for now. Sorry, Rogue.
3.4 Bottle @ HenrikSoegaard tasting. Hazy brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dried fruit and notes of chocolate. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet finish. 171112

3.4 Pixie bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is brown. Aroma and taste are fruits, caramel, notes of chocolate, nuts, molasses and hops.
4.1 Pours dark amber and smells malty and complex. Taste is thick with notes of caramel and toffee. Finish is sweet and lingering. Big taste from a tiny bottle.
3.6 2010 bottle. Poured a hazy dark caramel color. Aroma was sweet caramel and wood from the roasted malts, Flavor is good and bold but nothing too bitter or strong. Not as much of an alcohol taste as I would’ve expected. Sweet and bold. Solid. Wish it came in a bigger bottle though.
3.4 Bottle. Murky brown pour with some minor sediment and minimal head. Rich aroma of caramel malt and a bit of dark fruit. Smooth palate. Taste is sweet and a little rich.
3.7 7oz bottle. Wish there was bigger cuz its really delicious. Thin head dark brown almost purple color. Slightly fizzy. Mild spices and floral notes. Sweet finish.
3.7 Bottle 7 oz, Total Wine & More. Pours cloudy light amber with a small beige head. Aroma is malty toasted bready fruity nutty a bit boozy. Flavor is similar to aroma, sweet prunes raisiny nutty and dryish bitter. Finishes dry fruity nutty and malty.
3.6 Bottle. Pours dark amber with a head that fades to a ring. Aroma has milk chocolate, caramel, toffee, burnt sugar. Similar taste, caramel and toffee. Slightly sweet. Quite nice
3.5 7oz bottle poured into a snifter. 2010 vintage. Pours a lightly cloudy ruby/dark brown. Aroma of caramel, dark fermented fruits, citrus and wood. Taste is light bitter. Same as aroma but a little watered down. Light bodied with a thin texture. Flat carbonation but a decently long finish. Overall, pretty good. I would like to try a fresher one though.
