3.5 Classic Rogue ale, a porter with mocha as the name says, a concept innovative enough perhaps in Rogue’s early days – being one of those earlier names in the American craft beer movement – but now common enough; bottle from Geers in Oostakker (Ghent). Moussy, pale greyish beige head, lacing in shreds and quickly opening; very dark chocolate brown robe, blackish in general looks, with lightly hazy mahogany edges. Aroma of cappuccino and mocha powder indeed, black burnt toast, bitter chocolate, nutmeg, blood-like iron, toasted walnut shells, black peppercorns, hard caramel candy. Very restrained in sweetness, more sourish in a very dim and soft way, softish carb, slick but somewhat thinnish mouthfeel; toasted nuts and burnt toast with a light metallic edge, ending in soft roasted bitterness with a coffee grounds effect rather than the expressive, fragrant coffee aromatics I was hoping for; nut shell and herbal hop effects linger in the background along with a blood-like metallic ‘zing’. Decent enough for what it is, a simple, basic modern coffee porter, a bit too basic perhaps and a bit ‘outdated’ – but demanding respect for its historical position as one of the first modern coffee porters in the global craft beer world (let’s not forget that this beer has been around since 1994, when there were only around 530-540 craft breweries active in the States – less than ten per cent of the current number).
4.0 355 ml. bottle @ home, served in a tulip glass. Due date: 02/2019. Aroma: quite intense aromas of roasted malts, black coffee, roasted coffee, mocha, black chocolate, cocoa. Appearance: dark brown color, almost black, with beige foam made of tiny to small sized bubbles and quite creamy. Low to medium head thickness with high retention and medium Brussels' lacing. Too dark to talk about haziness. A thin layer of foam remains on top of the beer. Taste: low sweetness, medium bitterness, low sourness. Very intense flavors of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, roasted malts, cocoa, mocha. Balance is slightly towards the bitterness, and the acidity from the black malts is too much noticeable, but quite well balanced overall. Palate: low to medium body, watery texture, medium to high carbonation, very long dry finish with medium bitterness and the same previously mentioned flavors. Alcohol is very well hidden, no alcohol sweetness, no mouth nor throat warming. Low astringency and low to medium acidity from the black malts, quite good job with those dark malts. Overall: very good appearance, aromas and flavors. Roasted malts, roasted coffee, black chocolate. Low astringency and low to medium acidity from the black malts, good job with the black malts' mashing. Probably it would be better with a little more body, less watery texture, less acidity and a little bit less carbonation. Even with those little flaws, probably one of the best porters I've tasted so far. Excellent.

3.4 Bottle 33 cl from Dresden. Black, with a light brown head. Roasted malt, chocolate and dark fruits. Light bittersweet with a dark fruit end
3.7 czarne, nieprzejrzyste. Bucha od kawy, mocno palone, czekoladowe, słodkie z wytrawnym finiszem.
4.0 Bottled 0,355L. Dark black color, fraught and solid aspect with creamy light nut head of long duratio. Very fizzy and lively aspect. Malty and braced/ashed wood aroma, notes of coffee, mocca, strong ashed nose and cacao. Medium lively taste, prevalent sweet impression with notes of vanilla, ashed and braced malt and woody with very oily texture and pleasant carbonation content.
2.8 On tap @Ølfred - Aarhus Streetfood. Pours dark, clear brown, with small head. Scent: Roasted malts, coffee. Taste: Coffee, dark chocolate, water. Texture: Thin, low co2.
3.9 Bottle from Brewers Droop, Bristol. Pours dark brown with a nice off-white head. Aroma: coffee and dark chocolate. Lightly sour with dry/coffee aftertaste. Full body, long finish, average carbonation. Very nice.
3.5 Nicely balanced porter with a little roasted coffee and chocolate. Overall very good.
3.5 29-03-18 // bottle shared at Sixties Mainz. Pours deep brown. Small bubbly beige head. Aroma of cold roasted coffee. Tast is quite light bodied. Roasted malts. Coffee. Chocc. Mild bitter.
3.9 Black with medium-sized, beige head. Aroma of roasted malt , coffee beans and hint of chocolate. Medium sweetness, moderate, roasted bitterness. Great porter!
4.0 Bottle. Pours pitch black but with some ruby reflections; two fingers thick cappuccino head. Roasted coffee beans, light espresso, roasted malts, dark chocolate and some sweet creamy milk notes on the back of the aroma. Taste is quite bitter, mocha coffee, roasted malts and dark chocolate, pretty much what you get in the nose but the roastiness is stronger. Nice bitter liquorice aftertaste. Light medium body but the carbonation gives the beer enough consistency to avoid being too watery. Easy to drink liters of this, should be sold in 50 cl bottle at least! Mocha goodness.
3.7 Aroma sweet chocolate, chocolate milk. Taste chocolate milk, light coffee, light hops. Hoppy aftertaste. MF decent for 5.6 abv, lively carbonation. A bit too much chocolate milk for me.
3.6 Bottle 0.355L. Dark brown body with an average, frothy, tan head, mostly diminishing with some lacing, though. Moderate-to-heavy malty (roasted) aroma with notes of coffee, dark chocolate and light nuts. Moderate bitter and light-to-moderate sweet flavour; long-lasting coffee finish. Medium body with oily texture; soft carbonation. Good one!
4.0 Thuis uit een flesje. Donkerbruin van kleur, redelijk schuim. Uitstekende geur en inde smaak licht chocolade. Erg lekker en niet te zwaar in abv.

3.3 brown, black, sparkling, brown foam, tan foam, frothy, medium sweetness, medium sweetness, medium bitterness, medium sourness, medium body, full body, oily feel, creamy, soft carbonation,
3.6 Mousse fine colorée. Nez : essentiellement sur le café. Robe noire. Je n’ai pas trouvé la noisette spécifiée dans les ingrédients , le café reste omniprésent, même si cela reste raisonnable. Bonne longueur en bouche. Une Porter agréable au final.
3.2 Pours dark mahogany with thick, foamy head. Aroma is coffee and chocolate. Taste is bitter coffee, warming to slight chocolate. Finish in smooth, but uneventful. A so-so porter
3.2 Almost jet black colour with medium brown foam. Aromas sweet and silky of cocoa, chocolate with light toffee and malt notes. Palate, medium/light body with fairly thin texture leaving cocoa finish. Taste, bittersweet of cocoa and chocolate, maybe with a hint of some liquor. Overall, okay not too exciting, nice chocolaty but fairly plain and boring :(
3.2 Bottle says 5.3 abv. Black with medium brown head. Aroma is slight fish, smoke, deep dark chocolate, a hint of baked banana, a hint of bourbon, mocha, roast and vanilla. Also some dark honey and some pine cone, earth. Taste is sweet malt juice with medium viscosity. Medium roasty bitterness, at first a bit of a roasty sting, later a creamy and sweet finish. Medium body. Would prefer more intesnity. Low carbonation. Complex aroma but overall a bit thin. Might look out for the "double" version.
3.8 heavy roast with a long lasting finish. medium light body. really tasty stuff. my only complaint is that it says mocha but i taste no chocolate
3.8 Bottled. Deep brown to black. Opaque. Well-lacing head of beige. Aroma: coffee & roasted malts / barley. Restrained fruit esters. Light to medium body. Rather dry taste. Roast, coffee. Some hops. Good. Let someone guess: porter or stout?
3.7 330ml bottle from The Grumpy Goat, Reading. Black colour with light tan head. Big dark roasted malts, espresso, coffee beans, light mocha - more espresso than mocha, light dark chocolate.
3.8 Dark brown with a thick, dense head and impressive lacing. The aroma is chocolate, cocoa, cappuccino and caramel. The taste is mainly chocolate and coffee, some roasted malts. Very tasty, nicely balanced between sweetness and roastiness. Medium to full body, very smooth, long coffee aftertaste. Very good.
3.9 0.355l bottle. Dark brown color with beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, some chocolate and pronounced coffee character. Taste is roasty, and it is dominated by coffee. Overall it's nice and interesting porter.
3.0 From Dec 2006 Poured from 12oz bottle a very dark brown with a large head of foam that subsides after a w2hile leaving a nice solid layerwith lacing. The smell is a nice mix of sweet caramel malt and coffee. The taste is strong on the caramel, chocolate and coffee and they all hit you right up front. Tasty. The finish ends on the hoppy side with a nice bit of bitterness that yearns for another sip. Very smooth and it's a very good drinker. Yum. Bottom line: A very tasty interpretation of an American Porter that has no apparent negative aspects. I recommend it. Thanks to Wasatch for this sample!
4.0 Shared bottle at Mi2 at Cardinal 02.10.17. Almost ebony. Pale brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, tobacco and dark chocolate. Similar taste. Lingering aftertaste, with medium pine bitterness.
