Rooie Dop The Daily Grind

Rooie Dop The Daily Grind

We love the smell of fresh coffee in the morning. It’s one of the little things that put a smile on our face. Using delicate ingredients like Guatemala Antigua coffee, brown malts and Saaz hops, we created this dark coffee-infused beer. It will be the smile you need to break the daily grind.

3.1 Bottle. Roasted malty and light hoppy with lots of coffee, medium body with an oily texture. The finish is dry and roasted with coffee.
3.6 10-03-2016, Delft, Plan B Fles bij plan B gekocht, helaas al in 2014 gebotteld! Desondanks nog goed van smaak. Koffie en met name chocolade overheerst.
0.5 I got a really bad bottle of this. Chilled, opened, nothing but foam pouring out. Poured into a glass, and it was entirely foam. It was so unappetizing as the coffee grounds are floating on the foam. Let it settle, and in a few minutes it was flat. I tried drinking it anyway, because Momma didn’t raise a quitter. Coffee grounds all the way through. Eventually I have up and dumped it. I felt bad for the sink drain. I understand yeast sediment belongs in unfiltered beer, but the coffee grounds were to much. If this is how unfiltered beer is supposed to be, no thank you.
3.4 Bottle from Fyne Ales’ brewery tap. Black body with a thick beige head. Good lacing. Aroma of Twiglets, black cherry, coffee and blueberry. Flavour of burnt toast, brambles, peppery spice, espresso and ash. Thin to medium body with a smooth texture. Very bitter and dry - it doesn’t quite gel, in my opinion.
3.5 Thuizz. Koffie smaak is goed maar de combi van koffie, stout en bitter van de hop blijft moeilijk en geeft een ondefinieerbare (na)smaak. Backlog from 2015/06/09.
3.0 Coffee and alcohol in the nose. Coffee and alcohol in the taste, along with some toffee, caramel notes. Watery mouthfeel and sweet aftertaste, the alcohol overly present. Ok, but nothing spectacular.
3.5 Aroma: Roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate. Nothing else really, rather one dimensional. Appearance: Dark brown/black beer with a small brown head. Taste/Palate: Starts slightly sweet and medium bitter. Stays rather the same throughout the beer.
3.6 Black colored, some sediment, medium creamy tan head, nice lacing and good lasting. Aroma is mostly strong ground coffee, some roasted malt. Taste is medium sweet caramel, chocolate, some roasted malt, strong coffee, light+ coffee acidity, dry bitter coffee finish and lasting aftertaste. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Coffee is dominating here, so if you don’t want coffee in your beer avoid this one... me, I like it!
3.7 Bottle at home. Almost black with short lasting fizzy brown head. Lots of very nice sweet coffee beans, roasted malts, dark chocolate, dried apple, fresh berries, light bitter hops and light tropical fruits. Light sweet with under medium bitterness. Medium bodied with slick almost watery feel. Nice stuff, slightly too watery maybe but the coffee works very well here.
3.9 Dutch coffee porter with Guatemala coffee. Moussy and fairly thick, lacing, yellow beige head, eventually dissipating completely, over a very dark mahogany coloured beer, hazy, blackish at first but still well transparent. Strong, aromatic, tangy bouquet of indeed coffee beans and espresso, beautifully mingled with dark baker’s chocolate, smoked meat, bayleaf, dried grapefruit peel, black tea, beef broth, candied figs, dried plums, baked banana, kahlua, black pepper, cumin seed, cocoa powder and a touch whisky. Smooth, creamy onset of candied fruits but only restrainedly sweet, dried stonefruit and raisins, deep basic sourishness with a certain dried lemon peel quality to it, soft carbo, oily and supple, ’fatty’ mouthfeel but not too viscous, nice toasted, caramelly, nutty and eventually more and more chocolatey maltiness, layered but not too demanding, accompanied by a gentle coffee flavour in the end, warm and roasted, juicy still with a subtle candied sweetness all along; finish also has peppery hop bitterness and nice smooth caramel plus a touch smokiness and ’meatiness’. Alcohol remains perfectly hidden. Lovely porter, and the coffee does add an extra layer of flavour; there are no off-flavours either. Clearly well thought out, I like this a lot.
3.3 330ml bottle pours black in color with a finger of light brown head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is coffee and dark roasted grains with hints of dark chocolate. Taste is a roasted grain and pronounced coffee bitterness with a chocolate malty sweetness. Medium bodied with decent carbonation. Overall, a little bit dominant in coffee flavor (I am not a fan of coffee), but overall, a quality crafted brew and worth checking out, that is if you like coffee.
3.8 Bottle in the Marketplace Ale House, Doncaster. deep brown with a thin cream head. Sweet chocolate and coffee aroma. The taste is sweet coffee. A little cola too. Soft carbonation leaving it feeling a touch thin. Very tasty otherwise.
3.8 Bottle @ Delirium Hoppy Loft, Brussels 14/5-15. A lot of coffee, also roasted malt and chocolate. Body is medium, dry finish with coffee.
3.2 Pitch black with medium head. Espresso, excessive in aroma and taste. Very long bitter aftertaste. A bit too much bitter coffee.
3.4 Draught. Black in colour, beige creamy head. Aroma of black malts, caramel, ash and very distinct notes of coffee which could be of a bit better quality. In taste semi sweet, roasty from coffee with acidic finish. Medium bodied, medium bitterness. Nice stout.
2.8 Don’t know why i didn’t rate this, but drank a few of them.. not too much. It’s a bit too much cappucino. The coffee quality seems to be poor. It’s too sweet and and like a cheap coffee with a decent nice dark beer. A pity..
3.7 330ml bottle @ Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Pours black with creamy tan head. Aroma is bitter coffee, liquorice and caramel. Taste follows with a big coffee influence. Tasty.
2.7 Vom Fass. Der Geruch erinnert sehr an kalten Kaffee und frisch geschnittenes Efeu (junges Bier?). Der Geschmack ist dann ausgeprägt nach kaltem, altem Kaffee.
3.8 Aromat: przyjemny akcent kawy mielonej. lekka kwaskowość i słodycz, melanoidyny, czekolada. Barwa: brązowa / czarna, nieprzejrzysta. Piana beżowa, drobno pęcherzykowa, obfita i utrzymująca się. Smak: niewielka słodycz, złamana kwaskowością (która pod koniec trochę przeszkadza), plus wytrawny charakter kawy i ciemnych słodów z palnością, wręcz popiołem. Mocno kawowe. Na minus lekka nutka metaliczna. Goryczka jest wyczuwalna, ale pochodzi raczej ze słodu i kawy niż chmielu. Średnia pełnia, umiarkowane do wysokiego wysycenie, kawowo- kwaskowy i lekko alkoholowy finisz.
3.4 Dark brown body with a small beige cap. Coffee, roast, chocolate. The flavor follows suit, with some earthy, ashy notes. The aroma is a little better than the taste. Decent.
3.8 Bottle (330 ml) @ Delirium Hoppy Loft, Brussels 150514. Roasted malty and light hoppy with lots of coffee, medium body with an oily texture. The finish is dry and roasted with coffee.
3.4 500 ml bottle @ Patricks. Dark brown, not far from black body with a huge fluffy brown head that disappears rather quick. Aroma has dark malt, lots of chocolate, slightly roasted and hint of pine. The flavor is rather sweet light roasted malt, toast, fruit, pine, roast and bitter, dark chocolate with moderate bitterness otherwise. Medium body with a roasted malty aftertaste with more bitterness and hint of wood. Quite OK, not that impressive but slightly unusually and at least interesting.
3.9 Black color beer with a huge, lasting and frothy brown head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malt, chocolate and toffee. Flavor is predominantly sweet with some slight herbal acid notes. Body is thick and carbonation is low. The end is dry and long.
2.3 Tried bottled. Clear dark brown/ black colour. Aroma is malty, strong coffee, slight hops. Taste is overpowering. Very strong coffee flavour, for me it overpowers any other flavour that might be there. Like drinking a cold espresso. Not for me! Very long bitter coffee finish.
3.3 Bottle at home in London - sourced from Beermerchants. Gusher! Thankfully I was quick on the draw and didn’t lose a drop. The beer pours deep brown with a huge, frothy beige head that settles down into a creamy topping. The aroma holds earthy filter coffee, scorched malts, cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with lots of heavily sugared black coffee, some gooey chocolate, roasty malts, moderate earthy bitterness, some dark fruit accents. Medium bodied with active carbonation. Sugary finish with more black coffee, burnt sugars, cocoa, dark malts, raisins, molasses. Perhaps a little simplistic but not bad overall.
3.5 Bottle shared with Mr_H a deep brown colour aroma is strong roasted coffee flavour is initially like a shot of expresso strong coffee predominantes the flavour of this beer
3.5 330ml bottle from Cloisters, Edinburgh - potent dry coffee aroma, opaque very dark brown near black, good creamy beige head, good lacing, aggressive coffee flavour with a dry bitter finish
3.7 bottle a brown colored beer with a white head aroma malts toasted malts cookies caramel dry fruits spicy and some hops flavor malts toasted malts spicy caramel some yeast dry fruits spicy and hops
3.8 Aroma: Chestnut, hint of coffee, hint of liquorice, wood (roast) Appearance: Dark brown, almost no see through, beige coffee cream head, fine foam, medium stay, full lace Taste: Coffee roast, little sweet , liquorice, light coffee bitter dry finish
