Rothaus Hefeweizen

Rothaus Hefeweizen

Wheat is an important and typical flavor carrier in this type of beer. As with all other beers we also work at Rothaus Hefeweizen with a slightly higher original gravity of 12.5%.

In addition to the fine hop bitterness (13 bitter units), Rothaus Hefeweizen is typical of the variety, with another important flavor component, the yeast. In Hefeweizen the yeast is not mixed, but a top-fermenting yeast is used. Unlike our other beers, it comes with unfiltered wheat beer bottling.

Ingredients: water, wheat malt, barley malt, hops, hop extract, yeast.

3.4 Bottled 500ml (Alko web) Hazy orange-yellow colour, medium-sized cloudy off-white head. Banana and clove in the nose. Medium-bodied. Malty semi-sweet Hefeweizen. This is towards banana with lots of yeasty esters, some bubblegum. Less citrus and spiceyness. Solid.
3.5 Bottle. Golden cloudy. Ripe sweetish banana on nose, almost sahti-like.med bodied smooth nice yeasty. Sweetish malted wheat, the yeasty esters. Quite nice. Intenser and sweeter than most
3.9 Gyllengul och kraftigt grumlad vätska. Brödig, lite degig och lätt gräsig i doften. Utanpå allt ett omslagspapper av kryddnejlika. Maltig kropp med medelbeska. Litet syrligt avslut.
3.4 Hazy golden color with medium off-white head. Aroma has caramel, wheat and citrus. Taste is malty sweet with long quite sweet aftertaste. Flavors of wheat, yeast, citrus and some banana.
2.8 Smells of vanilla pours cloudy dark orange colour Strong taste of vanilla banana then just disappear
3.4 Tap@Tuulensuu, Tampere, Finland. Medium, balanced nuances of dry wheat, some bitterness, a hint of yeast and minerals. Medium/narrow taste spectrum and medium/short aftertaste with slightly artificial wheat. Medium body with medium, soft carbonation. Overall, bit dryer without so much banana flavors. Clear. 6 4 6 4 14
3.8 Bottle. Pours hazy yellow with high white head. Aroma is banana, yeast, flour, some sweetness, mango, dough, some white summer apples. Taste is fruity, flour, some yeast, banana, some mango, sweet apples, cream. Very nice beer!
2.9 Bottle. Pours a hazy orange colour with a fluffy white head, light hop aroma with some wheat and spice, the taste is medium bitterness and with a dry bitter finish.
4.1 Heerlijk weizen
3.6 KYGG 071120. Golden color with a white head. Aroma is oranges, wheat, cloves. Flavor is oranges, banana, cloves, wheat, sugar. Nice beer.
3.4 Bottle; nose is wheat, pronounced cereal, slight bubblegum and cloves. Taste is wheat, banana, light cloves, pear, pear drops, lots of yeast pronounced bubble gum in the thin finish. A touch disappointing. Absolutely beautiful label on the bottle though.
3.4 Tight foamy white head stayed on cloudy dark golden body. Yeast, wheat & cereal aroma. Medium bodied, soft on the tongue with a lively back. Sweet fruits, cereal, floral, banana & chalk tastes. Refreshing
4.1 330ml, foil capped glass bottle from Caps and Taps, Kentish Town. The bottle is dated as best before 06/01/2021. Served into a weizen glass having been out of refrigeration for about 15 minutes. The beer pours a hazy golden orange colour with a couple of noticeably huge pieces of sediment falling into the drink at the very end of the pour. High carbonation, even for the style. A handspan of loose big bubble head that rescinds away quickly. The aroma is like leaning in smell a bowl of ripe fresh fruit. Banana, apricot, peach, red apple, pear. Wheat and yeast but no spice is detectable to my nasal palate. The taste is dominated by the fruit. Creamy banana, apricot and light pear all compliment each other. Some medium sweet apple notes. Very moreish and easy to quaff. Soft carbonation on the palate. A nice medium sweet taste, short legs. Overall, an extremely tasty beer. Different to the classic hefeweizen. One I will definitely visit again, especially come warm weather.
2.9 330ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Pours a stable white head leaving spotty lacing on the glass, near-clear golden-brown body. Moderate smell of fruity wheat and ripe apples. Spiced yeast fruity flavours, moments of banana sweetness and mid-dry apples. Ends rather sweet and wheaty. Soft on the swallow. Decent version of the style, a tad too sweet though. (Tromsø 26.11.2020).
4.1 Dusky gold pour with a lively head. Aroma of wheat and apricot. Taste bready; wheat, orange peer, clove and spice notes. Pleasing sweet aftertaste. Very drinkable Hefeweizen. Autumn beer - perfect for Oktoberfest quaffing. Prosst!!!
3.3 Bottle from Beer52. BB Feb 2021; Drank Oct 2020 - Cloudy orange. Good frothy white head. Banana and clove aroma. Wheaty malts. Fruity, banana, orange. Yeasty and Spicy, cloves. Sweet-bitter wheaty malty banana fruity yeasty clove spicy. Fruity easy drinking hefe. (2020-10)
3.1 Bottle, from Beer52. Cloudy orange gold, thin but sustained white head and gentle condition. Sweet phenolic nose with hints of banana and toffee, some spicy clove and gentle grain notes. Soft and sweet in the mouth with a much more muted clove spiciness and reduced banana esters, finish is soft and fruity with low banana and a little spiciness.
3.5 Oranges and banana yeast, a really good Weissbier, classic aromas and flavours, hazy gold, nice head. Enjoyable.
3.2 Beer 52. Like orange wheat beer. Different, could only have 1. Spice
3.8 Orange pour, medium head and jolly carbonation. Everything about this celebrates the Germanic zesty wheat beer. Citrus aromas and flavours backed by a robust malt backbone. Lovely!
3.0 From Beer52 had at home in October 2020 330ml bottle. A nice Weizen.
3.4 Bottle. Murky brownish orange with a dense inch of white head. Bready aroma with bananas and cloves. 7- And so so it tastes, although a bit of pepper joins the cloves at the end. Feels a bit heavy until the end. The finish lifts the sweetness away with spices and a nip of bitterness. Above average hefeweizen.
3.3 Lukter nellik, banan og hvete. Lys brun tåkete med offwhite skum. Lett. Søt. Smaker som lukten, søtlig banan, krydder og hvete, samt hint av karamellsødme. Middels lang.
3.6 330ml bottle. Pours cloudy orange-gold, good sized head, plenty of retention. Aroma of wheat, banana, clove, quite sweet. Taste is semi-sweet, and some lovely mild spices coming through. Low bitterness but enough to contrast with the sweetness, a little dry. Moderate body and low carbonation works well. A good Weissbier.
3.7 Bottle. Hazy light orange pour. Lots of coriander and clove, touch of banana. Wheat (surprise). Bit creamy, smooth finish, with a fruity finish. Pretty typical (in a good way) example of the style.
3.8 Aroma; hefe, coriander, clove, banana, buns, dough, cinnamon, almond, caramel, sweet soft malts. Look; big dense off white head on hazy deep golden body. Taste; hefe, coriander, clove, banana, buns, caramel, sweet soft malts, pear, almond, imaginated notes of barley malt, and finishes sweetly. Feel; normal body n fine co². Overall; it`s hefe deutschhhh :)) [eine feine Flasche auf einem dem nordischen Alkogetränkemonopol gekauft, und in der Wohnung der PywothekH7 getrunken]
3.4 Funky tart apple on the nose, peach juice appearance and mouthfeel. Tangy, slightly hoppy banana on the palate, drying out on the mildly peppery finish. Not my favourite but certainly something quite different within the style. The subtle hoppy funk makes the difference to the standard banana and clove wheaty tang.
3.4 Draught @ Maja/Talo Aroma has mild spurish notes and apples. Also some banana. Flavour has green apples, some mild tartness and some floury notes. Unusual.
