Rush River Bubblejack IPA

Rush River Bubblejack IPA

One of our favorite styles, this ale is a hop explosion. Light in color, heavily hopped in the kettle as well as conditioned with several unique hop varieties. This creates a beautiful floral/citrusy nose which is balanced well by a smooth and full finish.

2.1 Bottle shared by Eric. Aroma is bitter grass, some citrus, and caramel malt. Pours light amber with a small white head. Taste is bitter grass, some garden weeds, and a stale biscuit malt. Mouthfeel was bitter and dry despite all the malt taste. All in all, this had the makings of an inbalanced and old IPA.
3.6 bottle @ John’s Grocery / Iowa City IA --- Hazy golden amber color, full 1" white head that stays around, short streaks of lace. Taste is edgy malt that adds strong floral hops in the palate - hops extend to a lingering finish. Very dry, very thirst quenching, very good.
3.4 Bottle from Woodmans in the Falls. No bottle date. Pours an orangey copper with a white head and a ton of floaties. Crud! Was a bit concerned about age, and was likely right. Aroma has a nice blend of fresh fruit, citrus and pine, led well by the fruit. Taste is of either dead hops or a real muddle of weak pine, some grapefruit and some pineapple. Little malt presence in this one. Light to medium bodied. Finishes fruity sweet and citrusy bitter, in a solid mix. This one was all over the place. Hoping just old, because it could be pretty good if so. Otherwise strange that the nose and finish would be so solid and the rest just blah. 13.4
3.3 Pours hazy pale yellow with white head. Good hop aroma and flavor, but a little on the bitter side for me.
3.4 Bottle, shared by me... in my dining room... just now. Pours a hazy yellow with a medium sized white head that leaves nice lacing on the glass. The aroma is a touch sweet & a little faint but decidedly hop forward, grassy & weedy like mowing through an overgrown patch. It’s got some nice citrus fruitiness as well. The flavor is nice enough, pushing the envelope as far as enjoyable bitterness but staying within the threshold for sure. It’s got a nice grassy & fruit forward happiness. The beer does have a touch more sweetness than I would like but again that aspect is pushing the envelope without really going outside of what I find enjoyable in an IPA. Enjoyable enough that’s for sure.
3.3 Hazed orange, hop haze, yeast haze. Some light frothy head. Strong citrus grassy aroma. Seems a lot like some noble hops alot character like a grassy skunky pilsner. Full mouth foamy feel, lot of toasted pale malts with some sweetness. Citrus tart. Pretty dry toasty finish. Strong citrus grassy hops and bitter/tartness. Probably too much citrus/grassy for my kind of ipa I go for.
3.5 Bottle at club w, poure into glass, hazy orange pour with white head, aroma of light hopps, and cat urine, taste is mild hopps, bitter, not bad,
3.4 Aroma is pine, spices/vegetables and a hint of citrus. The flavor is citrus, light grapefruit, fruit, spices, malts, mild EIPA qualities and a slightly bitter/tangy finish.
3.6 Actually thought this was pretty good...needs a little less malt and more hops but thats just my opinion...still a very drinkable beer.
3.1 Clear gold pour with a 2 finger, soapy off white head, a high effervescence and lots of fairly large tan floaties, resulting in a kinda neat, but gross looking boiling cauldron of protein flecks. Aroma is fruity and citrus with a big hop acid sharpness and a little sweet and toasty malt. Flavor is fruity and floral up front followed by sweet malt Juicyfruit Gum, grapefruit, light medicinal notes and a lingering citrus note to the finish. Medium body, juicy entry leading immediately to a borderline astringent feel with a medium to heavy and somewhat sharp carbonation that fades away pretty quickly due to that oddly high effervescence. Not bad.
3.4 Golden pour thick white well laced head. Lots of grapefruit and bubblegum mildly bitter finish with hints of grass. Some mild sweetness in the finish. Decent beer
3.5 \Yellow pour with white head and lace.. Sweet malt and light resiny hop aroma. Dry maltiness with a bready flavor. A decent resiny bitter finish. Medium bodied but a tad fizzy.
3.9 From River Falls WI, and this is the town my in-laws are from. This is a great, stay true IPA. Pours a hazy gold and has that right amount of hop, with a touch of pine. Dry and crisp at the end. Cheers!
4.2 Solid drinkable IPA. Cloudy pour. Well balanced between malts and hops, the latter not particularly defined in pine citrus or resin. Light bitterness as well. Good.
3.6 Light gold color, nice florals, minimum head. A nice IPA from the folks in River Falls.
3.4 12oz bottle-thin white-yellow. A-pine, 2nd lt malt. T-pine/herbal hops, lt malt. Light, easy.
3.2 Cloudy orange pour, decent white head. Nose is grapefruit/citrus. bittersweet. Middle is sweet malt and hop flowers. Finish is somewhat bitter.
3.3 March 2012. Bottle. Nice amber color with a white head. Citrus aromas with hops and floral notes. East to drink and a good bitter finish.
3.4 Bottle. Golden yellow with particles floating throughout, with large white foam head. Aroma is mild citrus with some toasted malt. Taste is biscuit malt with lemon citrus hops and tangy pine bitterness.
3.4 Bottle. Pours a hazy straw in color with a big fluffy white head that leaves substantial lacing. Aroma is light citrus hops. Flavor is biscuit-like malt and bitter hops. Light to medium body with a kingering bitterness.
3.2 I love me some india pale ales - but this one doesn’t quite make the grade.
2.4 I was not a fan at all. As far as I can tell, the bottle was fresh. Despite this, the beer seemed to taste off--as if I had a pint from a tap line that wasn’t properly maintained. Fortunately, it was light bodied for an IPA, so it went down pretty quickly. I would probably retry this one, as the flavor makes it seem like I just got a bad bottle, but it was so light I’m not sure that it would make any difference.
2.6 Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow with no head. Aroma is definitely lacking. Taste is stale hops. Not impressed.
3.2 Nice foamy head, golden yellow/orange colour, a bit hazy. Aroma of lemons, and a bit of sweet fruit. Taste is nicely bitter, grapefruit, a lingering bitterness at the back of the mouth. Average mouthfeel, maybe a bit soft. Not bad.
3.5 Light, clear golden color, with minimal head. Hoppy, citrus aromas & flavors. Crisp & refreshing. Bitter aftertaste & linger.
3.9 12oz bottle with no date on the bottle, so I’m not sure how old this is. Picked it up on a recent trip to the ’sconsin. Poured into a pint glass. Pours a clear pale orange with a moderately thick white head on top. Big citrusy nose that is inviting me to partake. Orange, lemon, floral tones - nice refreshing nose. The mouth is crisp, yet creamy. A little sharp, but smooth on the back end. Nice big citrus flavors greet me with sweet tangerine, orange rind, lemon zest. Bitterness is moderate and accessible. This is a great IPA for novices and geeks alike. I wasn’t expecting a lot, but this surprised me. I would grab this again for sure.
2.6 Bottle - has a hazy yellow appearance. The overload of carbonation seems to be causing this. It has a thick head to it with some lacing. This one is definitely different than other IPAs. It seems more like lager with a hopped up taste to it. The body is light to medium and the palate is lacking.
3.5 Draft. Clear golden yellow color, thick white head, delicate lacing. Aroma of pine and pineapple. Taste has pine and tropical fruit in a bit of an odd combo that grows on you.
3.4 12-oz. Thanks, B! Pours a murky burnished medium amber with a dense and creamy whitish head that hangs around for a while, leaving lots of eggy lace. Mild grapefruit and caramel nose. Creamy medium body with soft carb, and the requisite toast, caramel, and grapefruit. Pretty run of the mill IPA, despite having no major flaws.
2.9 Pours a hazy, golden yellow. Some floral and hop aromas. Flavor is full of hop bitterness, with not much else to balance. Not the greatest IPA.
