100% BRETT FERMENTED. Technically, this is neither an ale nor a lager. The base recipe is for a Golden Ale, but we do the primary fermentation with 100% brettanomyces. The brett gives it some sour notes but not as much as if it had been aged with lacto and pedio. It’s rather refreshing on a warm day!

3.6This bear was made with great care. No lacto aroma like a sour. Very malty with some saltiness. A Belgian golden that has been left in the sun.
3.9July 27th, 2015 - The Russian River odyssey continues apace but I'm starting to slow down. A lot. And we're just getting to the heartier stuff. The Santtification is next, with it's salty and acidic scent, smelling of lemon rind and lemon juice. I'm a huge fan of this kind of acidity, so I dip into the flavor with eagerness, but the flavor is comparatively mellow, like a lemon based dessert. Lemon merengue, I think, where the merengue cools down the raw acidity of the lemon juice. With each sip the aftertaste is just a last, short pop of acidity and then onwards to the next taste.
4.3Barwa złota, piwo zmętnione.
Bardzo orzeźwiające, dużo brzoskwiń i pulpy owocowej, dzikość stonowana, raczej w rystukalnym stylu. Kwasność średniej wysokości, cytrynowa, czysta. Finisz lekko cierpki.

3.4Pours barely translucent apricot with a fair off-white head. Aroma yields sharply tart fruit, mainly tropical with some citrus and pomme. Flavor produces tart fruity and fresh malt notes, crisp and drinkable. Texture offers OK body and perky fizz. Sanctified.
4.0Bottle @ Home. Pours slightly hazy yellow with a fading white head. Aroma of malt, yeast, brett, leather, fruit, grapes, mild citrus. Flavor is light sour, malt, yeasty, bretty, light tart fruity, grapes, citrus, lemonpeel. Medium body, average carbonation, dry and light acidic finish. 180818

4.3Bottle from brewery. Finally getting around to this. Pale golden pour, small airy head fades quickly. Yeast, Brett aroma, mildly sweet. Taste is tart and sweet, and velvety smooth. Perfect example of the style.

4.0(Batch 072616) Honey, brett, sweet grain, oaky, grassy, Chardonnay aromas and flavours. Real gentle brett influence. There is a real pleasant sweetness to balance out the acidity. Off dry mouthfeel, biting acidity, leading to a persistent acidic, fruity finish.
4.3Bottle. Hazy yellow. Aroma is lemon, apples, grapes, plums, wood, funk. Taste is sour with lots of fruitiness, aftertaste is elegant funk and wood. Amazing brew.
3.8An elegant wild ale. To me it reminds more of a sour blond than classic american wild beer. But it is balanced, complex and nice.
4.2From Sep 2006
Poured from 750ml( room temp-Batch 002) a cloudy lightish gold with a huge head of foam that shrank slowly leaving lots of lacing and a solid layer for the entire session.
The smell is *all* spicy with notes of yeast, orange, corriander, and a whole lot of funk!
The taste is *hugely* sour up front. Almost to the point of knocking my socks off but there's also the yeast, orange, and corriander I mentioned in the smell and there's some peppery notes, hoppy bitterness, and even some malt sweetness .. man.. this one sure is complex as all hell and a literal delight to sip on. I'm glad I have another bottle and plan on cellaring it for a spell.
Bottom line: A superb American Wild Ale, in my book. My hat's off to Russian River for, once again, travelling down the off the beaten track!

3.8From tap at Russian River, Santa Rosa. Aroma is Bretty barnyard funk with tart fruits, citrussy lemon, a touch of stone fruit including apricot. Flavour is a nice medium sour. Body is medium. It’s like a light Gueuze, could use some age.
4.0Brought back from the brewery in Santa Rosa by my son - thanks! Hazy, light golden pour, not much of a head to speak of. Pleasant sour aroma, some Parmesan cheese. some apricot sourness. . Flavor is tart with some wood accents, some sourness - cherries come to mind. Solid spritz to the mouthfeel. Excellent sour to savor!
3.8Hazy yellow light carbonation. Very light nice drinkable sour. Lemon flavor.

4.0Poured into a tulip from bottle, bottled 7/26/16. Cloudy golden yellow, with a medium white head that quickly dissipated. Nose is all funk, a bit on the bready side, over ripe citrus notes. Taste is mostly tart citrus, with that sharp sour finish. Very nice.
