Saint Arnold Amber Ale

Saint Arnold Amber Ale

A well balanced, full flavored, amber ale. It has a rich, malty body with a pleasant caramel character derived from a specialty Caravienne malt. A complex hop aroma, with a hint of floral and citrus comes from a combination of Cascades and Liberty hops. It has a rich, creamy head with a fine lace. The light fruitiness, characteristic of ales, is derived from a proprietary yeast strain.

Saint Arnold Amber Ale is best consumed at 50 - 55° Fahrenheit.

2.8 Bottle split at Bespin, thanks to Paul, 19/09/16. Light golden with a decent off white head. Nose is pale malts, toasted sugars, straw, light caramel, bread. Taste comprises toasted grains, light toffee notes, brown bread, straw, paper. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Mediocre stuff.
2.9 Bottle at The BA Lounge in IAH. It pours clear golden - amber with a decent white head. The aroma is fresh, floral, soft, stone fruits, apricot, peachy, toasted grain, light caramel and bread. The taste is crisp, soft bitterness, floral, bitter orange, harsh metallic twang from carbonation, bread, cereal and some lemon with a firmly dry finish. Medium body and moderate+ effervescent carbonation. Easy - drinking, but lacking in a bit of punch. Not so bad, especially for am airport beer.
2.8 Bottle - Pours "amber" .. white head. Malty, floral, aroma...with bready flavors, and a bit of citrus. Light, drinkable. Bitter finish.
3.8 Pours hazyish orange with a large white head. Smells of subtle malt and hops. Taste is mildly hoppy with some earthy tones. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Saint Arnold Amber finishes with a subtle lingering bitterness.
3.0 Pours a nice bright amber color. Aromas of grapefruit/pine with some roasty scents. Flavor is citrus mixed well with the sweet malt, finish is a bit metallic, kind of like sucking on a penny.
2.9 12 ounce bottle. Golden color without a lot of carbonation. Very little aroma. Bitter taste and bitter finish, more like an ESB rather than an amber.
2.7 Originally rated on 6/16/08. Slightly disappointed in this offering from st. arnolds. While they normally have good beer i belive that the sixer i got was old. It poured a nice looking body, nice head, decent lacing, good carbonation, it wasnt amber in color, more yellow. It smelled great, better than i expected with notes of pine almost floral. The taste was bitter, and slightly sweet. I will re-review this one again in a few months
3.1 Rich amber color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of caramel malt, & some fruit/floral; Flavor of sweet malt, caramel, fruit, and some herbal hops; Not bad.
2.9 On tap at the brewery. Nice place! Standard amber. Caramel, nice citrus tones. decent.
2.6 Drank out of the bottle in minute maid park watching the Reds play the home team -- nothing to see here.
3.3 Aroma is sweetish malts, fruit and tea. The flavor is malts, fruit, light citrus and a slight hoppiness/bitterness in the finish.
4.4 Deliciously balanced malts and hops. Beautiful appearance. One of my recent favorites. Also is as good if not better when dry-hopped with Cascade.
2.8 Nice fruity/sweet/malty flavor. Smells of sweet malts. Low carbonation and lacing. Yellow/amber in coloration
2.3 Tap into pint. Golden color, no head. Light hops in the nose. In the mouth comes across more as an easy pale ale than an Amber, modest malt, equal part hops.fast finish. Enh.
3.3 (Saint Arnold Amber Ale) Bottle 355 ml at home, served into a glass tankard, ABV not stated on the bottle. Light amber colour on the body, good activity in it, small and thin white head with average retention, leaving light lacing behind. Aroma has faint caramel, light toffee, grassy hops. Nice taste, moderate hoppy, grass, light citrus light metallic notes on the finish. Nice bitterness on the aftertaste. Medium thin body, active carbonation. Quite good.
3.1 On tap at the brewery. Unoffensive older style amber that is stronger on the malt. light on the hops.
3.2 At 2015 Alamo Bowl. Go Cats! Mostly clear amber with lacing white head. Nice malty aroma. Minimal hoppiness. Not bad.
3.0 Rated on 02-18-2013 at Saint Arnold B.C. This draft beer pours a small off-white head with a long retention, transparent golden body, fast rising carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is malt, grainy, floral, and grassy hops. The flavor is citrus, grassy hops, grainy, malt, and sweet. The mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is light-medium bodied. This beer has a nice hop flavor, but not overly hoppy tasting.
3.5 Tap. Amber with small head. Light caramel base. Really nice crisp hops. As ambers go, this is excellent.
3.2 On tap light orange color. Lacy clingy head. Medium carbonation. Aroma of malt and hops. Some floral notes. I’m surprised this is an Amber. Higher than hops than expected for an amber. Treasures like a light ipa. Not sure if I was poured the right beer....
3.1 355 ml bottle. Clear amber with white head. Smell is sweet malty with bread and fruit. Taste is sweet caramel with fruit. Semi sweet with low bitterness and low carbonation.
3.2 Overall, good beer. Wasn’t too crazy about it. Paired it with brisket and it was a surprisingly good combination
3.1 (draught) pours a hazy golden-amber colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of kiwi, gooseberries and straw, with a hint of cardboard and vomit, some strawberries, herbal hops and caramel. flavour is mostly caramel and papaya, with some cherry pulp, a hint of herbal hops and rose pettles in the light-bitter finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation.
2.0 On tap @ Cat Cora’s Kitchen in Houston Airport Terminal E. Not very dark for an amber! And not very toasty or carsmrlized either. Hmmmm.. This is a grainy bland lager all the way. WTF? I asked a different server and they confirmed this beers identity, so I’m scoring it on that basis. How do you make an amber ale suck even more? Make it a lager! Boo. 2.0
2.6 Pours a clear amber color with white head. Caramel malt mainly on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes lingers and dirty.
3.1 12 oz bottle. Poured a boring clear amber with a razor thin white top. Taste of caramel malts, dough, very simple. High carbonation, thin body.
2.8 amber with a thin white head. aroma is caramel malts and light citrus. Flavor is bread and caramel malts. medium carbonation.
3.4 Aroma: Grainy Malts, Mild Champagne yeast Appearance: Golden Straw Hue, Passes Lots of Light, White Head, Decent Lacing Taste: Sweet Malts, Mild Bittering Hops Mouthfeel: Average Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Mildly Drying
3.4 On tap at Black Gold bar, Omni Hotel in Houston. Pours average amber color with quickly dissipating head. Aroma is caramel malts with hints of apple cider, some subtle spice presence as well. Taste is slightly sweet with string caramel and toffee flavors. Some toast notes as well. Body is shockingly thick, solid presence on the palate and well carbonated. I like it.
3.3 from my good bud Marshall - Clear medium amber with only a rim head and no lace. Not much to look at, but all is good with the drink. Taste begins with butter rum malt, grows neatly through the palate to a light, but certain hop bitter in the finish. Not your typical amber, but a winner in its own right.
