Saint Arnold Divine Reserve #11

Saint Arnold Divine Reserve #11

The color is deep amber with a light, creamy head. The nose starts off with a touch of citrus but then turns decidedly into peaches. The taste starts off with creamy malt resulting from the pale 2 row and caramel malts and Saint Arnold yeast. The hop bitter starts low then builds to a crescendo, but always maintains a balance even in its big finish. The hop flavor continues to be peaches, an interesting manifestation of the Columbus, Simcoe and Centennial hops. This is the first Divine Reserve that we have filtered. This decision was made to make the hop flavors brighter, plus it would have been a bottling nightmare with all the hop bits in it. This beer is best enjoyed at 45° or even a little warmer. Though the recipe and style indicate this beer to be enjoyed fresh, we expect this beer to develop interestingly over the years.

3.9 Pours with a deep amber color with a tan head that dissipates rather quickly. Tastes of sweet malt with light pine and citrus notes. Has an sweet aroma of biscuits and dark fruits. Earlier Rating: 4/8/2015 Total Score: 4.2 Nice sweet cereal aroma. Pours with a nice golden amber color. Medium carbonation. Sweet biscuit flavor with a nice balance with the hops. This is a wonderful brew!
3.4 650 ml bottle purchased from the local H.E.B, Austin TX. Hazy Amber color slight head in a mason jar. Aroma is heavy on caramel malt, resin, slight citrus. Flavor has a strong backbone of caramel and toffee. The hops come again as resin with mild floral tones. Over all this seems to be going the way of the dinosaur, a very dated IPA with a lot of caramel. Well, no flaws so it has that.
3.8 22 oz. bottle as Endeavour from Spec’s El Paso split with drsordr. Pours a clear amber color with small off white head. The aroma and flavor have dank, citrus, peaches, a little pith, caramel, toasted malt, moderate bitterness, I don’t know how old this is, but it still has decent hop character, I missed this as Divine Reserve 11, but this is decent enough.
3.8 Bottle pour copper with moderate white head. Nose light pine, tropical fruit hop, dank, and some caramel malt. Taste tropical fruit hop, pineapple, dank hop, then mild alcohol. Reasonable progression. Lighter bitter finish.
3.4 650 ml. as "Endeavour" bottled 10/24/2014. Clear copper with a rocky disc of foam. Aroma is earthy orange toffee and menthol. Flavors of toffee, mint and whole grain toast. Medium body is dry and smooth with a low level of CO2, but a bit boozy.
3.8 Bomber from Spec’s - Memorial in Houston, TX. Slightly hazy light orange pour with a white soapy head. Nice citrus and sweet peachy aroma. Little bit of malt sneaking in there on aroma as well. Taste is very similar. Fairly aggressive on the tongue. Good brew. This actually softens up and gets a little fruitier/peachier as it warms a bit.
4.0 Bottle in Houston. Citrus, earthy and peach aromas. Dark amber. Strong, but not too much alcohol flavor. Nice.
3.9 Bottle from Houston, thanks Jonas. Clear dark golden with a dense head. Aroma and taste of hops, caramel, pineapple, citrus and some grass. On the sweet side and with a pleasant bitter finish. Fresh and nicely drinkable, a tasty beer.
3.8 Sweet hoppy aroma that does contain a lot of peaches like the description says. Pretty color, dark for an IPA with a tiny off-white head. Taste is also peachy after the initial rush of hops, but the peaches really show through in the aftertaste. Good and interesting mixture of hops in this one. Palate is dense for the style. I thought I had tried every kind of IPA, but this one threw me for a loop.
2.9 caramel, bread, hay, resin, floral, spruce, citrus, dough, pale, golden, hazy, frothy, white foam, lightly bitter, medium body, thin feel, average carbonation,
3.8 Pours clear pale amber with two fingers of rocky white head, good retention and lacing. (4/5) Nose is pithy citrus, tropical and stone fruits, mild pine, light caramel malt. (8/10) Taste is moderate sweet, moderate to strong bitter. (7/10) Medium to full body, moderate carbonation, building bitter finish. (4/5) Very pleasant, mild-mannered and well-behaved DIPA. The sweetness is definitely present, but balanced nicely without being overwhelming. The balance extends to the ABV, which is nearly completely absent despite being nearly into the double digits. (15/20)
3.9 Rated from an Endeavour bomber. Orange color with a thin off white head. Nose of citrus and stone fruit and candy. If they made a hop flavored Jolly Rancher candy (and I wish they did) it would taste like this. Lots of sweetness with tons of peach, red grapefruit, apricot, and orange marmalade. Nice balance for such a big beer.
3.9 Actual DR11 bottle dug out of the back of the fridge. There’s still one back there so next time I should grab an Endeavour bomber to compare against. Still tastes fresh though I believe the aroma has lost some of its intensity. Pine resin and grapefruit with tropical fruit notes.
3.5 22 Oz Bottle. Tasted on 11/20/14. Bottle from Total Wine Lewisville,TX. Aroma has notes of peaches, citrus & some light earthy notes. Taste had similar profile to the the aroma with good carbonation & and s light bitter finish. Overall a nice beer.
3.8 Dark amber. Nice head. Nice woody hop aroma with some spiciness. Spicy on the tongue. Warm hops. Tasty fruitiness. Good malt and some alcohol warmth.
3.8 12 oz bottle pours amber with a off white head. Aroma of citrus, pine and caramel. Taste is caramel, grapefruit and grass.
3.5 sample from bottle at 2014 houston big brew fest. Deep golden with one finger head. Well balanced DIPA. Not particularly unique, but a quality brew nonetheless.
3.8 On tap at Munich Tap-House. Clear amber, decent head. Nice citrussy and piney hop nose, good hop bitterness in the mouth. Strangely easy drinking, but nice.
4.5 I’m just going to say I’m happy that the folks up at Saint Arnolds made this beer a year round brew. I normally have one with a hearty steak dinner and finish it off with a boiler room Berliner weisse with raspberry tarts for desert
3.9 From a bomber. Pours a dark orange and makes a cream-colored head. This double is a nice treat...smells of fresh hops and tastes of malted barley, caramel, and of course, hops!
3.8 Endeavor DIPA. Nice balanced double IPA. Moderately hoppy with soft pine notes. Nothing particularly outstanding or special but it’s tasty and it goes down easy.
3.3 Tap at taphouse Munich. Amber, creamy offwhite head. Fresh fruity citric hop nose. Light sticky resinny base, but nice broad hop profile on top. Grapefruit peel aftertaste
3.6 12 oz. bottle from my Secret Santa. Thanks man! Pours an orangish amber with a small off white head. Decent lacing. Aroma of peach, pineapple. Somewhat juicy, with some orange peel. Flavor is fruity, with some mild caramel malt backing and a twinge of alcohol. Medium to full bodied, aerage carbonation. Finishes with hoppy with a bit of booze. This is pretty nice.
2.7 As a dipa weak very weak. No aroma very malty very little flVor for a dipa. No aroma or very weak. Seems beer rockie dipa category. Skip it.
2.9 Had it on tap, not bad. I honestly couldn’t pick up much of anything but grass in the aroma. A tiny bit of of pineyness but thats it. Taste was a little better. Little bit of tropical fruit, little pine. Bitter. I wasn’t crazy about elissa IPA by Saint Arnold. I thought it was kind of sweet and weird. This was a little better. I don’t know, maybe I’ve never gotten a good one. Not crazy about it though.
3.8 Golden orange in color... Aroma of sticky citrus hops, caramel malts... Flavor is caramel malts, citrus hops, sticky burnt malts... Nice citrus hop finish... Delicious
4.2 Bomber: ENDEAVOUR IIPA - Copper orange color with 2 fingers of off white , dense, lush foam, which settles after a couple of minutes leaving lace. Aroma is nice and juicy, fruity with orange, honey, and pine. The flavor is a nice balance of acidic and bitter, with nice caramel backbone, it finishes with a touch of aspirin dryness. Medium-full palate, slightly slick, soft mouthfeel adequate carbonation, holds up pretty well with warming. Really nice IIPA.
3.6 (Backlog) Bottle of fantasy tasting at Paul’s. Brown pour with tan head. Grassy, citrus, light pine aromas and flavors, tones still ok for a slightly aged iipa.
1.6 Bottled: This is the one I fear, an almost three year old DIPA Yeah as expected the hop esters are buried and what is left behind is pale grains, sweet breads and developing oxidizing. There is still some fleeting bitterness on the palate but really this is a shell of it likely was and does not have enough malt backbone to become a tasty Barleywine. Worse as it warms some pickle starts to dominate the profile.... if you got this left either man up and take one for the team or dump it in the toilet. This beer did not develop interestingly over the years
