Saint Arnold Fancy Lawnmower Ale

Saint Arnold Fancy Lawnmower Ale

A true German-style Kölsch. Originally brewed in Cologne, this beer is crisp and refreshing, yet has a sweet malty body that is balanced by a complex, citrus hop character. Multiple additions of German Hallertauer hops are used to achieve this delicate flavor. We use a special Kölsch yeast, an ale yeast that ferments at lager temperatures, to yield the slightly fruity, clean flavor of this beer. Fancy Lawnmower Beer is a world class brew yet light enough to be enjoyed by Texans after strenuous activities, like mowing the lawn.

2.4 Tall boy Can at Minute Maid park Houston Texas. Easy drinking. Nothing memorable or special .
2.8 Doesn't taste of anything. Pretty clean. Good very cold if you are thirsty. If not, a waste of time.
2.8 Not bad, but it loses its appeal after drinking so many other delicious craft. Not something ide search for if I'm out.
2.3 Rachel brought this one back from a trip to San Antonio. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz can this beer poured a bright yellow-gold color with a large fluffy yellow-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweet and yeasty with a hint of grape. The flavor was tangy, sweet and yeasty with some artificial grape. Medium length finish. Light to medium body. Not good.
3.0 Big thanks to Bryan for this 12oz can. Looks & smells like good ol’ kolsch. Anticipating thirst quenching brew. Nice head almost goes rocky. Very good sizzly co2. At first comes on with almost too much personality but then the refreshing attitude visits in the middle. Yes, fading annoyances that go completely away in the finish. Pretty good overall beer drinkin’ experience. Good stuff right up to the end.
2.2 Tap at Nonno Tony’s, Galveston. Clear golden color, small white head. Grainy and a bit fruity. Light-bodied. Grainy, almost cardboardish, subdued fruityness. But actually this is not far from German kölsch. Something rare in USA,
3.8 They gave me this for free and it tastes good. Kinda fruity for a kölsch but your girlfriend still loves me.
1.9 4 oz. pour, on tap at The Ginger Man in Austin, Texas. Consumed on 11-6-16. Clear, pale golden. Off-white head. Significant effervescence elevates an otherwise underwhelming appearance. Buttery, chardonnay-like, dry, lightly beery aroma. Weak smell. Bland taste. A bit fruity. Mineral or metallic. Perhaps a touch vegetal. Soft in the palate. Light body. Frothier than ideal. Brings little to the table.
2.7 Can. Grassy aroma. Light bready malt upfront followed by some balancing bitterness in the finish.
3.0 Sampled in a flight with other Texas brews at a local establishment. The appearance is straw yellow with a slight head. Lawnmower definitely seems suited as a spring or summer drink. Very little smell, grassy (fitting don’t you think). The taste is slightly citrus along some hay. Quite light on flavor. Offered one in the future I will drink it.
3.1 Bottle. It poured a golden color with a white head. The aroma was of citrus, grains and malts. The taste was similar to the aroma with more citrus, malts and grains. Decent.
3.3 Bottle - Pours pale gold with white head. Aroma of hay, light toasted bread, flowers. Flavor of hay, lightly sweet malt, hints of lemon and a hops finish. Dry finish, too. Drinkable.
3.4 Quite normal. Not so storng but easy to dirnk. Thin and lagery. Some golden features and thin taste.
3.4 Draught at Ginger Man, Austin, TX, 25.4.2016. Clear gold with a white head. Crisp and malty aroma, grainy and on the sweeter side of things. Hardly any hops. Light-to-medium body, the slightest bitter finish but mostly grainy notes. Simple, refreshing, more blond ale than kolsch but still nice.
2.9 Pours a golden yellow. Aromas of lemon, grains, celery. Flavor is crisp, dry, sweet malt, and a mild hop.
3.9 Pours clear golden yellow with a soapy bright white head. Smells slightly floral and slightly grainy. Taste is grassy and floral. Light-bodied with a wet texture and average mouth-carbonation, Saint Arnold Fancy Lawnmower Ale finishes crisp and fairly clean.
2.5 Light straw light head. Aromas straw, grass and light toffee. Flavors straw, hay toffee. Lightly sweet. Blah.
2.1 Some astringency and a little raw barley aroma. Golden pour with ok head and lacing. Light crisp finish. Tap at the local in Houston.
3.0 12oz bottle thanks to Eric. pours out golden topped with a white head. nose is grain grassy hops and a little bread malts. taste is more of the bread malts nice grain touch and a light grassy hop.
3.2 Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks David Cohen. Golden. Aroma of grains, hay, some grassy hops. Rather dry flavor, with some graininess, slightly sweetish bready malt, and decent bitterish crisp grassy hops. Rather light-bodied. Decent and refreshing.
3.1 Draught at the brewery. Straw colour, thin head. Has a slight herbal hop note, light grainy note, sweet and just a touch of bitterness. Good for what it is, heck you could argue almost a kolsch.
4.5 Bottle in Dallas. Clear yellow with an abundant white head. Soft grass and malt aroma. Malty sweet taste with pleasant short hop finish. A very nice kolsch, very thirst quenching.
3.0 Bottle: Poured golden with bubble white rings. Aroma is sulfur and soggy cardboard. Taste is nice soft grain and crisp.
3.0 Appearance: clear straw with one finger of nearly pure white head, good retention and minimal lacing. (3/5) Aroma: crackery malt, grassy, honey. (6/10) Taste: moderate sweet, mild bitter. (6/10) Palate: light body, moderate carbonation, crisp finish. (3/5) Yep, that’s definitely a lawnmower beer, though I’m not sure it’s all that fancy: in terms of colour, weight, body, presence… by whatever metric you want to use, this is an extremely light beer. Not badly done, though, by any means. The decent crisp grassy hop finish makes it an effective thirst quencher - in other words, a lawnmower beer. (12/20)
3.1 Bottle from shig poured yellow it's no head. Aroma was a thick sulfur at first but subdued after a couple minutes. Aroma had sweet grainy notes. Taste was crisp sweet wheats tastes.
2.5 Shared 12. oz. bottle. Pale gold with small white head. Light hops and malt in aroma, smells faintly sweet. Similar taste, but not a lot of flavor overall. Hardly fancy, but a decent thirst-quencher.
2.1 Aroma: faintly sweet and slightly bready; Appearance: pale straw with minimal head;Taste: can see why it’s called lawnmower beer since it tastes like sparkling water; faint hops but that’s about it; Palate: very light body, fizzy carbonation; short finish; Overall: similar to Rolling Rock; inoffensive and somewhat refreshing; would drink again if free.
2.7 Originally rated on 4/15/08- Still drinking my first one, golden yellow body with thin head fair lacing, the initial smell was kinda strange (not in a good way). Tastes a little grassy, and slightly malty. This is my first sample of the kolsch style beer, i will have to try a few more to get a good feel for them. Anyway this isnt a bad beer, its fairly average.
2.9 Tap at the brewery. Pours a clear golden color, little head. Aroma is faint, grain, light caramel, a bit of apple juice. Taste is grain, a bit of toast, faint caramel. Not much going on, but very refreshing. Light mouthfeel, high carbonation. Not tons of flavor, but for being marketed as an alternative to mass produced "lawnmower" beer this does the trick.
2.8 12oz bottle. 6/30/15 production date. Appearance: Light golden, crystal clear, with low white head. Aroma: Light grainy malt and slight fruity yeast character. Taste: Light grainy malt and moderate herbal bitterness. Mouthfeel: Light body with moderately high carbonation. Finish: Dry and sticky on the tongue. Overall: Decent kolsch. Lacks the fruity yeast character of some others
