Saison Athene is a bottle conditioned saison brewed with chamomile, fresh rosemary and black pepper. A dose of wild yeast at bottling adds to the complexity.

3.5Old rating. Better than average saison. Cloudy gold. Ample spices, nice tart flavor, crisp finish. Good saison.
3.6??? - Herbal hay and horse blanket. Cloudy yellow with a rich white head. Herbal notes, hay, grain and a little bitterness. Lots of hay in the finish. Nice.
3.6750 ml bottle purchased at Total Wine, Tampa. Cloudy / hazy gold in a chalice. Aroma is all Belgian yeast, spicy, floral hop hints. Flavor carries over the floral character with the pepper in chamomile shows in the back end of he sip. Lively palate with the ABV not found anyplace. Rather nice drink.
4.1Pineapple yellow color. Impeccably cloudy. Aroma is sharp sourness: half vinegar, half lemony tartness. Scent is not for everyone, but a touch of blood orange rind balances it beautifully. Has a prickly spice.
The taste is very tart, a prickly, spicy effervescent sourness. Less vinegar in the taste, but still extremely sour, like a lime. Has a lot of the qualities of a mimosa.
The feel is spiky and juicy, balanced and pretty intense. This is a really terrific beer. It really is a mimosa for those that don’t drink mimosas.
4.0One of the best saisons I’ve ever had. The interesting additions of rosemary and chamomile give a lovely twist, almost soothing like a nighttime tea. Quite a bit of farmhouse fun to it as well. I get a pineapple like flavor upfront, but finishes smooth and refreshing.
4.0Straw golden in color with medium carbonation. Aroma of banana, orange peel, tart apricots.
3.6Pours a pale golden body with a thin head. Funky hayish aroma. Fruity taste with farmish tones.
2.7From notes. Tasted some time near the summer of 2012 from a capped 750mL corked and caged bottle. Pours dark yellow with a thick white head that slowly recedes to a thin layer of smooth lace. The nose is cardamom and herbal spice with some dark bread, caramel, and light funk. The flavor is more spice, less malt, and the same very light hint of funk. The body is medium with overactive carbonation and a long spiced cardamom finish.
3.5750ml bottle picked up at Grassroots and shared at the holiday tasting
Clear straw golden with a small white head, no lacing. Aroma of pit fruit and peaches. Taste is fruity and black pepper
Nice
4.1750 ml bottle. Pours clear gold colour with copious white head. Final pour was cloudy. Lots of chunks at the bottom of the bottle. Nose is large Belgian barnyard funk, which follows through on the taste. There is lime peel, really refreshing with a short-medium herbal, minty slightly bitter finish. I don;t taste much of the spices, maybe some slight rosemary. This is a really good saison.
3.5Bottle. Cloudy orange. Aroma of green leaves, pepper, pepto bismol, massive barnyard funk. Taste is tart and sweet. Effervescent, and a bit mulchy.
2.8This poured a light orange with a white head. Aroma is of poop diapers and skunk. Flavor is much better, light funk, citrus, earth and light skunk. Me.
3.9Huge whiff of chamomile, some spices. Very floral. Cloudy, light yellow, nice lacing. Medium carbonation, delicate. Light considering the abv. Solid stuff
3.6Draft to taster at Ei8ht Ball. Looks solid; a completely transparent lighter gold with foamy white head. Smells solid too; a nice balance of yeast and spice with mild notes of chamomile. You get a touch of the wild yeast in there as well. Tastes like it smells with a nice medium-bodied mouthfeel that’s on the dryer side. A good example of the style.
3.5Cellar aged a couple years out of laziness.
Cloudy off orange pour small white head. Herby aroma hints of lemon grass and white pepper. Avg palate. Nice mellow slightly sweet flavor. Good stuff.
3.5Rated on 8-23-10 (2008 corked and caged bottle) This beer has a large very fizzy white head that mostly diminishes, transparent bright as the sun body, and a fair amount of lacing. The aromas are malt, yeast, sweet, fruity, and spice. The taste is sweet, spicy, fruity, yeasty, and a little funky tasting but in a good way. The palate is lively and this beer is light-medium bodied. Overall, this is an easy drinking beer and is refreshing on a summer day. It is worth trying as the flavors blend together nicely and it is a beer I would drink again.
4.9Saint Somewhere Saison Athene is perfectly balanced to provide a unique saison experience that can’t be beat. Aroma is sweet and fruity. Pour is a cloudy orange-yellow with an effervescent white head. Taste is nothing short of a treat -- orange-lemon flavor with a bit of floral and peppery notes and just enough sourness to make it interesting (but not overpowering.) Athene lingers pleasantly on the palate. I think Saint Somewhere makes some of the best saisons in the world and I am lucky to have them somewhat local here in Florida. Athene definitely lives up to that expectation.
3.0(StLCoB tasting) gold. Tart aroma. Flavor was more sour than Saison spice.
3.0Bomber poured into a snifter. Cloudy light gold with a huge foamy head that dissipates away. Aroma is floral, chamomile, orange blossom, pepper, funk, and yeast. Taste is mostly sweet with a little bitterness in the finish. Flavors follow the aroma. The chamomile is a but much for my taste. Body is medium, a bit oily. Just OK for me, but did find that I liked it more once it warmed a bit.
3.6750ml bottle from Dutch’s. Mostly clear golden orange color. Thin white head. Awesome big rosemary herbal aroma. Reminds me a bit of Saison du buff. Nice lemony citric aroma, works very well with the mild tart taste. Medium to bigger body. Kind of soft, but smooth lighter carbonation (once it sits and mellows out for a bit). More dry finish. Good black pepper. I’m liking this one quite a bit, definitely more than the Lectio Divina I had before it. I’m a fan of pepper and rosemary, I guess.
3.7Bottle, shared with Parksy and Grippitis. Hazy medium yellow, fluffy white head. Dried flowers, fresh celery, dry finish with a touch of white pepper. Interesting, tasty.
3.6Bottle at Exira Beer Summit IV. Thanks to adnielsen for bringing the bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange color with white head. Floral, funky, chamomile aromas. Funky, floral, yeasty, dusty flavors. I’m usually not a big chamomile fan, but this was pretty good.
3.8Bottle @ Nielsen Exira Beer Summit IV. Thanks to Dr. Owl for sending! Pours a hazy yellow orange appearance with a nice white head. Quite spicy and floral, potpourri, orange blossom, a bit peppery, somewhat funky, barnyard aroma. The floral element in particular is somewhat reminiscent of Trinity Oh Face Saison. A bit juicy, strong lemon/mango/pineapple fruity, white floral, fruit bretty, grassy, funky flavor with a fair amount of potpourri and spicy yeast on the finish. Pretty tasty.
4.0The beer pours very well into the glass, it has a very dark banana yellow color that completely blocks out all light. There is very little head to the beer and no lacing on the glass. The scent of the beer is a bouquet of floral notes, corriander, peppery spice, citrus, and a crisp green apple scent. The taste is much of the same, you get a floral taste with a pepper, corriander flavor with a bitter citrus finish, a great blend. The mouthfeel is very clean and crisp, even though there was no head, you definitely can feel the carbonation in your mouth. Overall, this is a great saison and highly recommended.
3.7750ml from Pint Defiance. Opens with a loud pop, but stays in the bottle until poured. Cloudylight gold with a ppersistent, medium white head. Nose is quite spicy and funky. Medium-light body with fine, prickly carbonation. Orange peel, coriander, strong saison farm funk and some oak. A bit of booziness creeping in as it warms, along with some pepper and lemon zest. Prefer the lighter aromas of a Stillwater or JP, but quite good and I will seek oit other Somewhere offerings.
3.8Une belle complexité florale et rustique habite cette saison plutôt facile à boire. Le côté sauvage est très discret, habile conception.
3.5Circa 2006 bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow-gold color with a medium fluffy white head that recedes slowly. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of yeast, spice and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of peppery yeast, biscuit malt and ripe fruit. The finish is slightly funky with an herbal yeast aftertaste. Think it fell off a bit with age, but decent overall.
3.4750ml bottle in a tulip. Pours hazy golden with a small, off-white head. Aroma of spices especially chamomile and rosemary plus some light fruits, caramel and pale malts, and floral hops. The pepper is present in the flavor, but this beer is dominated by the other spices, and I don’t know if that’s a good thing. Average texture. Not bad, but not the best.
3.7Rated in 2010 (Backlog) - Cloudy gold with a large off-white head. Aroma is of citrus, sesame seeds and yeast. Taste is of sesame, citrus and spicy hops. Highly carbonated.
3.4After almost blowing my eye out with the cork that shot off as I was untwisting the cage, I get a huge white head that is slow to fade. Plenty of lacing. Cloudy amber color. Flowery pepper aroma. Taste is a spicy flavor of rosemary and flowers. Not bad.
