3.5 Bottle at Leighton’s place. 8/12/2016. Many thanks to Leighton for this one. A light hazed golden yellow coloured pour with a a lasting frothy white head. Aroma is little corn, noble hop, little funk, dirty, damp dog. Spicy hop. Flavour is composed light sweet grains, little apricot jam note, saison, yeast, tangerine, little age, papery. Palate is semi sweet, frothy carbonation, dry finish. A mixed bag.
3.4 Bottle split at Bespin, thanke to Lando, 08/12/16. Lightly hazed golden orange, carbonation evident, decent off white cap. Nose is toasted grains, farmyard, yeast esters, straw, lemon rind, bread. Taste comprises light caramel, lemon rind, grains, straw, bready, light yeast flicker. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close, light hop flicker. Ok saison.
3.5 Bottle from Bridgend Services, Freuchie. Pours with a bit of murk. Light golden amber. Generous, fluffy white head. Bready malt comed through in the nose. Quite biscuity too. Spicy yeast character. Some floral and herbal notes from the dry hops. Some orange and grapefruit. Lemon cordial. Very light tropical coconut drink. Taste has a lovely marmalade sweetness with a little sharpness to keep it in check. More spiced bread malt. More orange juice. A little grapefruit again. Medium bitterness. A little astringent bite. Bit too bitey. Juicy middle. Juicy finish with a little dry spiciness. Foamy carbonation. Good medium mouthfeel. Tasty gear, needs sunshine for optimum enjoyment though
4.3 750 ml bottle (2014 vintage) from Everett’s in South Beloit, IL, consumed slightly below cellar temp in a Duvel glass. Difficult to extract cork, slight release of air and noise when popped, but nonetheless it pours the typical huge frothy-rocky Dupont head atop a hazy luminous golden body, though the head is less stable than what I’ve usually seen (from fresher bottles)....spicy nose - tarragon, pepper - with plenty of dry yeastiness and perhaps a faint hint of something sugary, light oxidization...on the tongue it’s immediately sharp with plenty of that dry herbal bitterness, followed by a touch of sweetness in the middle of the palate, and a drier character returning at the finish, which is also rather mineralic/stony...very full and juicy body with tingly carbonation and lots of wet yeasty goodness. I would bet this was absolutely spectacular when absolutely fresh, but it’s still pretty darn excellent and I was overjoyed to find it locally. Now I wonder if they have some more bottles...
3.8 2014 bottle from Tanakaya. Classic Dupont yeasty, lemony nose that shines with a bit of honey. Piney hops come out as it warms with a tad of citrus. Above average carbonation with a slightly creamy mouthfeel. Biscuit and lemon on the palate with some light citrus. Peppery finish with some light sweetness. Nice take on a new Belgian classic.
3.8 Bottle from 2014 at importer. Hazy yellow colour with a stiff white head. Nose is slight green appleish sourness. Taste is creamy slight sourness with low bittetness. Dry mouthfeel decent beer but expected more sourness.
4.3 0.375l bottle, vintage 2014. Hazy golden body, huge white head. Aroma and taste of bread, orange peel, lemon zest, cheese, pepper and spicy, earthy hops. Effervescent and light medium bodied. Pretty awesome.
4.2 2014 bottle thanks to Kapusil! Awesome aroma of sweet lemon, basement aroma, pepper. Taste similar with nice piney hops. Drying finish. Slight honey sweetness at the end but otherwise a great saison.
3.7 Clear blond body. White rocky head. Hoppy aroma. Moderately bitter flavour with a nice twist.
3.8 375 ml bottle. White creamy and persistent head. Color is orange which turns opaque while pouring the yeast in the glass. The classic smell and taste of saison yeast is lowered by the dry hopping which entered new citrus flavors. Good beer but still prefer the regular Saison Dupont.
3.4 375ml systembolaget. Lite jordiga toner i eftersmaken.
4.0 2014. Tap at Jacs. Unfitlered orange-tan body with a massive white head. Earthy, mellow aroma, hints of melon. Has that nice dry, refined peppery yeast tone, but with some tropical citrus tones too..reminiscent of Belgian IPA. Not really as good as the original, but still sublime, really easy and smooth on the palate. The yeast is dry, flavorful, so much more refined than a typical Saison. Pretty excellent. Mellow lemon-lime. Keeps getting better as I sip at it.
3.1 At a tasting, many thanks, 2014 edition, big bubbly head, quite cloudy citrus orange color, aroma of wood, spice, yeast and some cardboard, flavor of wood, almond and vanila with a hint of fruit, and a light maltiness in the back medium bitterness. Nice but relatively simple and not too hoppy.
4.0 Thousand of thanks to bartlebier for this bottle! 2014. Trübes goldgelb mit reichlich Schaum. Etwas malzig, hopfig, fruchtig, Zitrus, grüner Tee, eine dezente Säure, im Abgang leicht bitter, sehr lecker!
3.9 Piana biała, obfita, drobno i średnio pęcherzykowa, dość trwała. Nagazowanie średnie do wysokiego.
3.3 Huge thanks to quack-duck for that one! 2014. Bottle looks really good. Beer in the glass very zippy, huge head. Starts dry, hoppy, grasy, light sourish. Fruity notes of lemon, some grape. Bitter background. Light soapy notes. Finish milder, dry-hoppy, less fruity. Not bad!
3.9 2014 bottle, this exploded out of the bottle, giving a frothy white head, nice saison aroma, with an extra bitter finish from the dry hopping. There is quite a sweet alcohol layer in there as well.
3.7 2013 vintage. Not sure if it is aged or just sat around for 2 extra years. Hazy brown apricot hue with thick cream lasting white head. Smells of a sugary yeast. A bit sweet, medium texture a bit more hoppy than the non dry hopped version but nothing overwhelming bread/yeast prevails. Pretty good.
4.5 A big surprise. I liked beer. Fresh, powerful, with a point of imbalance thank you very much. Maybe a little too much gas, but also a persistent foam amazing. A bitter taste at the end of the mouth, persistent and very nice. A beer for summer and retain repeat.
3.5 Infected? At jester king. Smells like a complex saison with tart. Really dry. What a theme. Slightly tart. A little spicy. I could drink a bunch of this but it’s not mind blowing. Pours a bit cloudy with lots of head.
3.5 From tap. Hazy golden color with white to off white head. Yeasty and hoppy aroma, spicy, floral, citrusy fruity. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Medium oily body with average carbonation.
2.9 Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a hazy yellow-gold color with an enormous fomay white head that left excellent lacing. The aorma was drysih, a bit chalky, perfumey hops and a bit of citrus. The flavor was dry, bitter, perfumey, chalky, musty and had a touch of black pepper. Medium length finish. Medium body. Meh.
4.1 2015. Hazy orange color, huge foamy white head. Fruity esters nose, orange, lemon, floral notes, Belgian yeast, light peppery. Belgian yeast taste, citrus, dry, cloves, grass. Medium body, soft to average carbonation.
4.1 375ml bottle [a fugitive from the unknown realm of Bartlebierean beer dungeons, thank you very much!]. Clear (with later pouring cloudy) golden colour with huge, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Fruity hoppy and fruity yeasty aroma, green apple, lemon, pear and hints of green fruit parings stick out of a peach basis, spicy yeasty notes come along, hints of peppercress, pollen, a floral as well as a funky touch - all flavours appear in a mild condition and perfectly integrated. Taste is fresh and refreshing, slightly dry, slightly tart, slightly sweet, slightly spicy, the above mentioned flavours appear again with interchanging emphases in vibrating course until the finish takes a distinct peppery and slightly grassy, bitter hoppy direction. Super soft palate, soft but effectual carbonation. I would have a second one not only under torture.
3.5 SB Lund, Saluhallen flaska. Torrhumlingen ger bra bett och blommigare arom. Fyllig pga alkoholhalt. En stadig sommaröl.
