4.2 0.375 bottle from Csakajósör. Huge white and persistent foam, aroma is complex, citrussy (lemon, grapefruit), grassy, bit sour, bit stable-like. Body is orange, hazy (there were visible yeast pieces in the bottle). Taste is balanced, complex and bittersweet: various fruits and a bit of honey fight with dry bitterness. Strong carbonation, initially fizzy, later softens a bit. Dry, bitter, long-lasting aftertaste. Seems a bit smoother than the "normal" Saison Dupont. A great beer anyway.
5.0 Very good. On tap in Glasgow, Scotland. Very Belgian tasting light colored champagne like bier.
4.5 Bottle from Dranken Pauwels. Another great specialty saison dupont version. Maybe not quite as ass kicking as the previous year but still damn good. Colour is rich cloudy golden amber, thin white head. Nose is green grassy hops, perfumed floral saison yeast, crisp baked meringue, Summer cut hay, spicey, pepper, cereal grain, fruity and dry-ish hops.
4.0 Bretty grassy aromas coming out of the glass. With the unique "wet dog aroma". Fruity yeasty taste with a dry brett finish and those grassy herbal British hop flavours. A lovely Saison in all variations.
4.3 Yields a cloudy orange color with a gigantic, fluffy white head. Offers a nice interplay on the nose between a vegetal, noble hop profile and the famous Dupont yeast, showcasing warmed pepper, anise, a floral freshness, pleasantly enhanced by the hops, wild honey and a bright sweetness. Has a high, effervescent carbonation which surprisingly enough remains pleasantly soft on the palate. Its body is utmost refreshing while including a broad flavor spectrum, ranging from spicy sweet to fruity dry - very convincing while never pushing too far. Tastes of cardamom and black pepper from the very beginning, effectivly soothed by silk yeast. Noble, dry hops follow immediately, adding perfectly to the spices, inviting an earthy cinnamon whiff to the grass. Brings dried orange peel to the tongue, which vanishes in the clean finish in favor of the dry hops. Even nicer than the original, due to the dry hops, which are equally well pronounced as the yeast.
2.6 375 ml bottle. Skunky aroma with hints of yeast, citrus and spices. Clear golden with white frothy head. Taste is yeasty, hoppy, fruity and herbal with hints of pepper. Bitter herbal finish. Rather smooth texture, sparkling carbonation, medium body.
2.8 [Bottle 375ml] Skunky aroma with some yeasty, citrus notes and hints of spices. Clear golden color in the glass, frothy white head. Good lacing. Hoppy, herbal flavor with pepper notes. Fruity at the back. Smooth texture but astringent finish. Too aggressive for saison.
4.1 750 ml bottle from Barriques in Fitchburg, WI, served a little below cellar temp in a Duvel glass. Cork very difficult to extricate, but it was worth it for the satisfying POP and the gorgeous liquid gold that slowly appears underneath the gout of large-bubbled meringue that fills most of the glass leaving snowflake lacing as it decays...nose is full-on floral immediately, honeysuckle and lilac, with fresh grassy notes and hints of pepper gradually appearing and contending...on the tongue, a delicate but obviously hoppy bitterness initially gets us rolling, with a light tartness appearing and taking us through to the end, a little pepper, and very faint honey sweetness...carbonation is strong, mouthfeel a little bit light, verging on watery. Pretty fine stuff - as expected - and I like the dryness and bitterness, consistent throughout the tasting; as it is the fullness of some of Dupont’s other products appeals a bit more than the light textures of this one. Still one that I expect to be trying again, and I certainly would love to find previous years’ models.
3.9 Bottle picked up from Dranken Geers, Oostakker. Nr Gent, Belgie consumed at home Wednesday 31st August 2016 Clear gold with a large billowing tower of foam. There is a clean spritzy fresh nose, a touch of spice and hops noted. It’s refreshing, clean tasting with a yeast and spice backdrop backed with a steady hoppiness. Really good, nice bittersweet balance. A7 A5 T8 P4 Ov15 3.9
4.0 mala :( butla (0.375), sniadaniowa... wersja z 2015, czyli wazna do 09/2018.
4.2 Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Nice larger white head. Hazy dark yellow to orange colored body. Aromas of yeast, floral tones, fresh cut grass, some dried yellow and orange fruits, light flower tints... Flavours of citrussy/yellow and orange fruits with beautiful Saison yeasty tones, light bitter, good herbal and some floral tones, crispy, tasty, good! Aftertaste is floral, yeasty, light fruity, light bitter... Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied. Very tasty, good stuff!
3.8 0,375l fles gedeeld met jerommeke. Mooie frisse Saison met citroen en lime. Zoetzuur met een gistbittere afdronk. Nice
4.0 Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs), lightly to moderately yeasty (cobwebs, basement), with notes of lemon rind, spearmint gum, pepper, hint of sulfur. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. LOL, just noticed this is now being split by year, which is silly but oh well. Drank a bunch of this vintage last year and it was solid of course, but like all Dupont beers it went downhill fast, in about six months. Get dem freshies!
4.7 Hazy golden color with a large, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of grass, earth, honey, toast, some citrus, and spicy yeast. Taste of earth, juicy citrus, lemon, a little bit tart, dry finish.
4.3 From bottle late 2015 to present. Hazed gold body with a small white head. Good effervescence brings to life a lot of vivid peppery bubble gum esters with lemony, grassy hops and a mineral-heavy pilsner malt honey richness. Floral, chalky, sulfuric, salty, peppery, juicy. Rich and tart and fruity and dry and bitter and beautiful. Breathes a bit of banana esters as it opens. I will complain that it’s a little too rough / dry around the edges and in the finish, but otherwise it’s very clean tasting, no fusels, highly attenuated, and in fine shape.
3.9 375ml corked bottle. Nice medium white head. Very yeasty aroma. Little citrus. Perfect carbonation for this fresh summer beer
3.8 Bottle, 375 ml from Svijet Piva. Shared with JFK10000. Pours cloudy yellow, large white head. Spicy, yeasty, fruity, hayish. Some wood in aroma. Sweetish and bit acidic. Medium bodied. Nice.
3.6 Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a huge yellowish head. The aroma has notes of spices, coriander, dusty hops and biquits. The flavor is sweet with notes of citrus fruits, bisquits, coriander, and brettanomyces, leading to a tart finish.
4.0 Mooi goudblond/licht oranje bier met rijke witte schuimkraag die langzaamaan wegebt. Gistig aroma (hooi, beetje melkzuur, hop, graan). Licht zoete aanzet (ananas, geel fruit, beetje druif) die overgaat in een hoppige, licht droge, afdronk. Zeer goed van Dupont.
3.8 Aroma: Medium aroma of malts, caramel, Belgian yeast, grain, hops and spices. Appearance: Turbid/opaque golden/amber beer with heavy yeast and with a medium/large off-white head. Taste/Palate: Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel and Belgian yeast; ends slightly dry with grain, hops and spices. Overall: This beer is intense and balanced, but lacks complexity. Refreshing Saison that is close to a ’regular’ Belgian Ale. The dry hopping could have been intenser in my opinion.
3.5 bottle@home. Pours yellow hazy with medium head. Nice bitterness, easy drinkable.
3.9 Hazy yellow color, medium sized white head. Sour-ish aroma, yeast, some hops and spices (pepper). Again, sour and bitter. Very nice and perfectly balanced. Medium body, soft carbonation. //bottle at Craft Room
3.7 Tasting at Matt’s, corked bottle Cloudy dark blond color, bright light; compact head. Nice aroma, strong; it’s perfumy, spicy, elegant. Highly carbonated, smooth; quite dry mouthfeel; the flavor is malty, a bit corky, the hopping is a bit herbaceous; it has an elegant and strong spicy flavor. Excellent straight Saison.
3.8 Pours a light amber colour with a persistent off-white head. Aroma has a hint of spice, touch of banana, and a bit of pepper. Taste is dry, with a creamy mouth feel from the high carbonation. Really nice.
3.7 375mL bottle, pours a cloudy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out lovely rustic farmhouse notes, dry hopping, and a little dry bready malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of rustic farmhouse notes, Belgian yeast, and moderate dry hopping. Dry, fairly hoppy and lightly spicy. Very nice stuff.
3.4 Hazy pale. Thin head. The aroma has some pedio, and maybe some citrus peel. The citrus peel character is more pronounced on the palate, with a yeasty note, and a hit of phenols. OK, certainly not anywhere the level of the regular SD, but worth trying.
3.7 375ml bottle from Park Royal, at Matt’s. Pours a hazy golden with huge white head. Aroma and taste are lots of flowers, some grassy notes. Hoppy bitterness aftertaste. Very good.
3.5 Bottle @ home. Huge head. Haze Golden. White bread. Wet hay. Grassy. Mild bitter dry. Some fruity esters. Nice very European.
