Sam Adams Light

Sam Adams Light

It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories.

Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it’s not a lighter version of our Boston Lager.
Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste.
No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt.
The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops.
At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

2.9 dark golden amber color with a nice thick short very good flavor for a light beer.
2.9 12 oz bottle. Pours orangish with small white head. Aroma of roasted malts and grain. Taste, easy drinker.
2.6 Bottle. Clear/pale amber color with a light off-white head. Sweet malt and hops in the aroma. Sweet malt in the flavor with some light bitterness. Malty finish with some light nice bitterness in the aftertaste. This is how you make a light beer. In terms of light beers solely,, I’d give this around a 4 or so.
3.8 Can’t believe I haven’t rated this beer yet, poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. This beer is a dark golden amber color with a nice thick short white head. The flavor is yeasty with a hop finish, very good flavor for a light beer. Overall, an excellent light beer and a good beer overall.
3.2 Pours an amber from a bottle, good clean malty aroma, maybe a little biscuity, nice clean flavor when cold, probably one of the better American lagers I’ve had, and a light one at that. Better than the Sam Adams Boston Lager. Good beer.
2.9 Classic beer. Medium look and nice finish. This has a well balanced mix between the hops and malts.
3.2 Poured dark orange to amber. Mild malts, mild to light mouthfeel. Some caramel very carbonated.
3.1 Pours clear amber with a medium beige head, very fine lacing, excellent retention. Malty aroma; caramel, biscuit, hay. Light body, smooth, lively. Lightly sweet and nutty, light bitter finish with some nice earthy notes. Very drinkable and refreshing.
1.9 12oz bottle, stemware @ 55F - Dark amber, no head. nose is pretty nonexistent, maybe some burnt malts? Caramel, brown sugar, apple, pear, etc. but very little taste.
3.5 Это пиво вкусное. я, конечно, рекомендую его всем, что любит хорошую Craft пива!
3.4 Pours a amber color with a thick white head. The aroma is sweet caramel malts and some hops. The taste is similar. For the style it’s a great beer.
4.0 Hands down the greatest light beer I have ever tasted. I don’t drink a lot of light beer but sometimes after the holiday gorge it’s not a bad idea to substitute a 6 pack of these in the rotation here and there, I don’t care what beer snobs say. Nice caramel, light hops, clean and refreshing. An American light beer that tastes good with no adjuncts.
2.4 Look: pours an amber color. White head. Very clear. Smell: lager malt smell. Sweet malts caramel. Bready biscuit. Taste: sweet caramel malt. Biscuit. Feel: very thin mouth feel. Medium carbonation. Overall: odd flavor just due to the age. First drank: home 1/6/15 Vintage: January 2013
3.0 I’ve gotta say, this ain’t half bad at all. Tastes just like a watered down Boston Lager, but that’s a good thing too. Very nice alternative for a weekday brew when you just want to wet the whistle without getting all torn up for next morning.
2.3 "for a light beer, one of the best, but that’s not really saying that much. None of the bad qualities that typically infiltrate the cheaper light beers, it’s just a thinner, less exciting version of their flagship beer."
2.9 Aroma of malt, copper color short last creamy white head. Sweet malt taste, with a creamy feel and a weak malt finish
1.8 Generically fine. I guess I prefer this to the BL,CL,MLs of the world, but really it is just about as nondescript as they get. Coppery appearance. Usual malty lager profile. Bready. Watery.
3.4 Transfer from BA review on 2-25-13 - Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – The beer pours an amber color with a one finger white head. The head fades relatively fast to leave only a light amount of lacing. Smell – The aroma is heaviest of caramel and roasted malt mixed with lighter floral and citrus notes. Taste – The taste starts out of caramel malt mixed with a corn like taste. As the taste advances some hints of hop flavor come to the tongue. The hop is of a more herbal and citrus in nature and in the end with the caramel flavor leave a mainly sweet kind of herbal like taste on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The beer is on the thinner side with respects to body with a carbonation level that is on the slightly standard side. Both make for a rather refreshing taste and are appropriate for the style. Overall – A tastier version of a light beer with more hop and malt characteristic for the “light” lager style. While nothing to pine over it is rather refreshing.
2.6 Very light and rather watery, but very clean and refreshing. As light beers go this is pretty good.
2.1 Tastes like a basic light lager. Better than most light beers, but still not very good.
2.5 355ml bottle from a gas station in Calais, ME. Coppery colour surprising for a light beer, looks like a thinner Boston Lager. Smells like a real lager more than a light, some light caramel malt. Actually tastes like beer. Tiny bit of bitterness on the finish. Thinnish body. Overall, a watered Boston Lager, so better than macro lights for sure.
2.4 Okay, so here’s a "light" beer that’s intended to be light and a unique tasting experience. It has a nice caramel body with minimal carbonation and a modest bit of light beige head. Aroma is murky hoppiness. Flavour is a decent malty affair with a watery finish. Certainly better than other "light" beers but not really particularily good.
1.0 It’s a light beer so my expectations are low. Still, it is better that the bud/miller/coors lights of the world. The flavor is generic enough that it’s challenging to describe.
2.3 bottle. Pale golden with small head. Tastes like a basic light lager, but a bit more flavor. Better than Bud Light and similar beers, but still not very good.
2.8 Backlog. Pours amber with white head. Nose and taste of grassy hop, light caramel malt, light bread and toasted grain. Lighter body.
2.6 The appearance had a clear amber body, fizzy white head forms but dies down very quickly, no lacing. The smell had some slight fruity flavors, light bread/caramel/nutty. The taste had some subdued sweetness, not much there. The palate was light, sessionable, bland dry aftertaste and finish. Overall, uh...I guess it does the trick for what its worth - it fits the style, and at a decent price.
3.4 Awesome "dinner" beer...crisp, clean, and smooth. One of the better light, American beers
2.7 12oz bottle picked up at the state store Clear golden/amber with a small white head that dissipates quickly leaving light lacing. Aroma of corn, wheat, grassy and light honey. Flavors are grainy, malts, citrus with a sweet finish OK, similar to a macro lager but better
3.7 I feel it’s significant to note that my rating takes the fact that this is a light beer into account. I hate light beer but I don’t hate this. Why? This beer doesn’t suck. It has a nice hoppy kick and the malt, though light in body, has a good nutty taste. This isn’t your standard light beer, and that’s a wonderful thing. If I absolutely had to drink a light beer, this would be the one I’d go for.
2.9 Bottle. A- Grain, hay, spices. A- Copper color, hazy liquid, minimal head. T- Grainy, slightly sweet. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, smooth finish. O- One of the best light beers I’ve ever had. Surprisingly good. Also good for cooking.
