Samuel Adams Alpine Spring

Samuel Adams Alpine Spring

Samuel Adams Alpine Spring is yet another addition to the brewery’s Small Batch series. For this entry, Sammy & Co used the more traditional labeling. Starting in late October, you’ll see the first of the Small Batch hit the market – Tasman Red, Third Voyage, Griffin’s Bow, The Vixen. (Vixen just won GABF gold.)

This unfiltered lager is perfect for spring. Noble Tettnang hops, grown in the foothills of the Alps, give the brew a bright citrus and floral aroma flavor. These are balanced by the slightly sweet crisp notes of two-row pale and honey malts. Cheers!

Note - LCBO beer called Samuel Adams Spring Lager is the same product as this

3.3 bottle. Golden with small head. Crisp hops with a little bit of citrus sweetness. Light body. Pretty good stuff.
3.0 Smell of fruits and herbs. Cloudy amber colour, creamy white head. Aroma of lemon, yeast, coriander. Bitter and faintly sour. Very much witbier to it.
5.0 I absolutely love this beer, my fave by Sam Adams I’m sooo upset they are not brewing it this year.
3.3 Hazy golden orange with a lasting off white head. Mild hop aroma, light sweet malts and a bit of honey notes as well. Smooth wet palatte. A nice pale lager with some flavor.
3.9 Yellow gold color and extremely cloudy. Rocky beginning head that takes a long time to dissipate. Leaves plenty of ring lace on the glass. Interesting combination of lighter malts and spicy, cumin-like, hop nose. Rich body with plentiful carbonation. Well balanced with a clean, mildly sour malt start. The hop bitterness is notable but not overpowering. Lightly creamy. Easy to consume more than one.
4.0 A good, flavorful lager. Some honey sweetness in this beer with some modest citrusy hops, also. It’s not very complex, but it’s very balanced and highly enjoyable. This is another solid lager in the Samuel Adams canon.
2.9 I think this used to be the spring ale..it’s an ok brew..can taste the honey along with malts..decent.
4.0 Bottle. A- Citrus, herbs, floral. A- Golden color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Hints of citrus, light spice tones. P- Slightly sweet and smooth. O- Very refreshing and surprisingly good. Much better than I was led to believe it would be.
3.5 Crisp, bright beer with some piney, floral aroma. Flavor follows this. Quite good for a beer I wasn’t too enthusiastic about before trying. Good spring/summer beer.
3.4 Best by June, 2012 Pours a hazy golden amber with a finger of white foam that falls to a quilt of the same. Nice frosty lace. Smells of grain, hay, some corn. Not getting the citrus everybody seems to be raving about. The flavor is sweet with grain and grass with a little sweetened lemon zest, and some earthy yeast. Mouthfeel is the best aspect of the beer, slightly heavy with moderate carb combines to a velvety, unobtrusive body. Above average, but not that great. Serving type: bottle 02-09-2012
2.5 Bottle (Spring Lager) from Rhythm & Booze, Barton upon Humber. Hazy gold, fluffy tight and lasting white head and gentle condition. Slightly yeasty nose with a touch of spicy hop resins, quite sweet in the mouth with some banana fruitiness, a tingle of bitterness and a pronounced yeastiness, finish is again yeast heavy and sweet with some muted lingering hop resin
3.2 A: Mildly Hazy Golden Straw Hue, Passes Lots of Light, Mild White Head, Very Minimal Lacing S: Mild Citrus, Mild Malts T: Malty, Mild Oranges, Mild Honey M: Mediocre Carbonation, Light Bodied, Mildly Sweet, Somewhat Watery Overall, an obvious attempt to appease that masses as it is a light lager with not much going on. I miss the Noble Pils...this beer was average.
3.7 On tap at Red Robin. A Sam Adams that I would pick over a lot of their other stuff. Clean taste. Just not much of it.
3.2 12oz bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a half inch of white head. Smell is tangerine, grass, clove, and a touch of honey. Taste follows nose with a big zest of pine and lemon in the finish. Light body with moderate carbonation.
3.4 light amber medium head nice persistence honey malt a hint herbal not bitter light caramel
3.4 Had on-tap at Terry’s Terrace in Michigan. Appearance: A pretty nice looking amber color with a small head that didn’t stick around all that much. The lacing was surprisingly nice though, so that bumps the rating up a tad. Smell: Faint, but it certainly smells like spring. Refreshing, light, and nothing really stands out. Mild hops and floral/leafy smells. Taste: I have a bit of a cold, so it’s hard to give it a completely fair shake, but it’s alright -- nothing mind blowing, but good for the average beer drinker. The floral flavors come out on front, with a very pleasant malt finish. There’s really slight bitterness on this one, if any, and I find it to be a touch on the sweeter side. The feel is smooth with a pretty low carbonation, making this one easy to toss back. Meh. A very average beer. It’s drinkable, and it’s not bad, but there’s nothing to make me want to really have another. Regardless, I WOULD have another to see how it tastes when I’m not a little stuffed up. A respectable seasonal.
2.8 some oxidation in the nose. it’s clearly been on the shelf too long. hazy medium gold color. rich head. soft, round malt flavor with minor hop characteristics. this beer is just too old to really represent itself, and i’ll seek out a fresher bottle to re-rate.
3.7 Very smooth, with a sweet bitterness. Overall an excellent choice for drinkability.
3.9 Got this in the spring sampler and it is a really nice beer. The beer has citrus aroma and flavor with some floral characteristics as well. They have used a very nice, mellow hop to blend the flavors and it works well.
2.3 Bleekgoud bier, minimale schuimkraag. Nauwelijks neus of aroma. Fris, citrus-achtig. Licht bitter, licht zoet. Weinig body, waterig. Doordrinker, maar niets speciaals.
3.1 A minimal citrus grain taste and smell. A golden brown color. Nothing special for Sam Adams.
2.5 The aroma is citrusy and grainy. It pours a dark golden semi-cloudy color. The taste is kind of sweet, it doesnt have the clean finish that I like in a lager.
2.4 330 ml bottle from stevoj with much thanks. Pours a very hazy pale golden with a white head. Aroma is malts, herbs, and fruit. Flavor is malty, a touch of fruit. Herbs, and booze Palate is light average carbonation. An ok lager.
3.5 bottle. Poured hazy amber-orange with a thin white head. Light fresh bready malty aroma. Crisp light palate, slightly dry finish. Pale malts, a bit grainy with some a citrus note.
3.3 (bottle - 12 oz) Amber pour with a creamy head. Nice and balanced hop and yeasty malt aroma. Flavor is much the same. Not too much hops and balanced well by a nice malt sweetness. Smooth and easy drinking.
3.2 Hazy straw/amber; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of malt, yeast, & hops; Flavor of sweet malt, yeast, some honey, hops, and lemon zest; Crisp finish; Overall, a little sweet - but decent.
3.1 On draft. Pours a cloudy golden/orange color with one finger of head. Aroma is of lemon and wheat. Taste starts with some citrus (mainly lemon) then fades primarily to wheat and malt.
3.0 A - Pours a hazy golden orange with 1 finger of off-white head. Average lacing but very pretty patterns. S - Lemon, grain, honey, grassy hops, earthy lager yeast. T - Bright lemon and orange citrus open up the palate. Grassy hops mix with b-vitamins to create a medium bitterness. Honey grain bread is the base and flows well with the citrus. Ends with a grassy, crisp finish. M - Crisp medium body, it has some density to it, just the right amount of carbonation. Very refreshing. Good mix of clean and grainy. Good looking and went down very smooth. I will be drinking more of this for sure. Serving type: bottle 02-02-2012
4.0 An excellent spring beer. The color and flavor are a nice hybrid wheat white. This beer is very drinkable and is excellent in both the bottle and on tap.
3.2 On tap. Poured a cloudy pale orange with a small white head. Aroma was citrus and bread. Taste was lemon, citrus, hops, and grain.
