Samuel Adams (Barrel Room Collection) New World Tripel

Samuel Adams (Barrel Room Collection) New World Tripel

Samuel Adams New World Tripel: Pale gold in color, this ale is big, flavorful and complex. A special Belgian yeast strain adds tropical fruit and spice notes to the crisp dry ale, while Saaz hops add a subtle herbal note.

3.3 750ml cork bottle opened with loud “pop” bought at CitySuper in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui. Looks: Clear golden orange colour; Two finger head with long-lasting crumpety white foam; Beautiful sticky lacing with fizzy slight carbonation. Aroma: Fragrant and fairly sweet malt, with fair pineapple, mango, orange, candied fruits, alcohol, very light funk, light phenolic, light floral, sugar, bread, Bel yeast and light herbal grass. Taste: Medium sweet Pils malt, with light orange, light funk, strong alcohol, liquorices, floral, sugar, spices, very light cloves, light herbs, biscuits, strong Bel yeast, lemon, medium bitter hops and grass. Body: Mid to full body. Thick and slick palate. Mouth Feel: Strong Pils maltyness in a thick and creamy background. Strong booziness set the tone with dominating liquorices. Orangey-malty with nice floral. Low-fi funk and spiciness and lowly cloves. No barrel taste. Tasty medium sweetness. Biscuity with strong lemon to round. Pretty solid but… Hoppiness: Light floral and light herbal grass in nose. Spice, floral, light herbs, lemon and grass in taste; Bitterness - liquorice and hops - is fairly strong for a lasting, mid astringent sweet-bitter finish. After Taste: Slightly dry. Malty and fairly bitter to mouth. Comments: Tripel-wise, this one is fairly solid with strong characters in malt and booze with well-controlled sweetness, but the hoppiness aren’t that strong, and fruity ester is underwhelming. The supposed KMF and barrel factors are minimal. It’s all thunder with a light shower. Not worthy for a bomber treatment and quite disappointing.
3.5 Large sample from one of the strangely shaped bottles at a tutored beer tasting in Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury on 15th Dec 2016. Hazy old gold pour, white head. The nose was floral, tropical fruity and spicy. The taste followed along the same lines: a little sweeter than the aroma suggests maybe but a fine beer all the same.
3.5 Aroma is subtlely spicy; hops are mild; malt is mild also, providing some bready aroma. Just a hint of tropical orange flavor. Color is a clear light yellow; head is average size and off-white. Taste provides mild bitterness and just a slight sweetness. The alcohol is not nearly as prominent as I expected given the 10% ABV. The carbonation is just a bit lively which works well with this beer. Overall I like the mouthfeel - a combination of mild sweetness, acidity and carbonation. The mild sweetness, spice and slight orange flavor are pleasant. Texture is interesting - it’s firmly crisp/acidic which nicely balanced especially the mild sweetness.
3.3 How: Bottle. Where: SBWF 2016. Appearance: Hazy golden colour with a white head. Aroma: Malt, fruit, grass, yeast. Body: Medium to full body, medium carbonation. Flavour: Fruit, malt, some caramel.
3.8 Tasted from bottle. Pours a hazy bronze with thick white head. Aroma is spicy with tropical fruit notes. Flavors of tropical fruit, banana, cloves, coriander, biscuits, spices. Overall a very well done tripel.
3.4 It pours dark golden with a white head. There are earthly aromas, tropical fruit, and citrus in the nose. It has earthy flavors with a high tropical fruit flavor. There are also flavors of spice, citrus, and pineapple. It has a moderately full body with alcohol warming and a dry, then sweet finish.
3.8 Got this one about two years ago. Vry rich and malty. Strong and Beligish enough. NIce to drink and enjoy with food.
3.9 Fine Tripel that leans a bit sweet...but keeps the spice flavor under control. Oak barrel aging doesn’t seem to add any extra flavor.
3.9 Rating #2083- 2015.09.27 #CraftTakesSeattle Day 4, Beer 185 - Bottleshare. Pours a cloudy orange colour, with a frothy white foam. Aroma is yeasty, spiced with coriander, light citrus. Taste is excellent, light hoppy bite, great yeasty sourness, and a nice light sweet note of citrus, coriander. Delicious. Bold, huge tripel.
4.0 Bomber. Nice Belgian spice in the nose, a little clove, a little alcohol. Amber in color, with a thick white head of fine bubbles, good lacing. Well balanced flavor. Belgian character, a little boozy, malt backbone, light barrel character. Full mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Overall, a terrific tripel!
4.5 Big. Full. Complex. Somewhat boozy. It’s nice when a tripel has the body to balance out the alcohol and the citrus/spice .
3.6 C&C bottle from the Sam’s mixed box that’s probably 6-9 months old. Nice, clear orange-copper color with a foamy, off-white head. Slight citrus hints in an otherwise spot-on tripel aroma. Fairly true to category taste with light booziness and a little spice. Well done.
3.6 Bomber. Pours a cloudy golden orange with an off white head and aroma of spices, yeast, and fruits. Taste is of sweet fruits with spices, Belgian yeast, and oak notes into the finish.
3.9 With Z , pours a rusty dark copper pour with a beige head. Nose is fruity, spicey and ’ figgy ’ sweet. Taste is fruity, sweet with a nice confluence of spices. Full of flavor, with oaky dark fruits as well ! Finishes on the same tasting notes with a moderately long finish. Surprisingly descent !! Quaff Score 8 / 10
3.8 Cobrizo limpio y espuma blanca ligera. Aromas de manzana verde, cilantro, ciruela, herbáce, ligero cítrico . Cuerpo denso, sabor de manzana verde, ligera acidez cítrica y final de amargor seco moderado.
3.7 Pours a pale hazy golden yellow color. Aromas of yeast, some hops and spice. Taste is yeasty and hops.
3.6 Caged corked bomber into snifter glass, clear golden amber color with plentiful light tan head. Aroma notes of malt sweetness, tropical fruitiness, light Belgian yeast funk and tad oak. Taste adds green apple, light Belgian yeast spices, some more oak, vanilla and caramel. Medium-heavy body, moderate-heavy carbonation, dry, lively with light oak/fruit finish. A pretty solid tripel, maybe a tad on the flavor light/boozy side.
3.3 Dark yellow color. Actually nice Belgian trippel. Normally I don't like this type of beer, but this one has enough spice and thickness that I like it. 10%. Nice hearty brew.
3.3 Bottle @ Fresh Thyme / Newport KY --- Aroma of malt and fruit. Hazy medium amber color, white frothy head, bands and blobs of lace. Taste is malt and spice with fruit that sweeps through a medium carbonated swallow on the way to light hops, followed by more spice. Big, heavy in the belly, works well, but not great.
3.9 From the bottle shared with friends at poker. Pretty nice triple. Lots of fruit and some malty sweetness.
3.8 Dimmig, halm gul, färgat skum. Doft: Örter, gräs, tydlig citron kola, humle, barr, korn. Stark 7:a. Smak: Söt malt, burk persika, söt apelsin, gran, frukt kola.
3.1 Sweet, sour and malty aromas are all present. Nice deep amber color. Has a bitter but nice flavor up front, with a smooth after taste that's not too strong or bitter.
3.5 Total Wine somewhere in Fairfax: light amber with a frothy pretty white head. Aroma is citrus, tropical fruits, and some tree. Taste is kind of sweet. Bourbon barrel is most definitely present but it does not overwhelm the beer. Alcohol is not overwhelming. Not bad.
4.3 Bought this at a specialty beer shop and it was a good choice! Pours a dark golden color with a fluffy offwhite head that had some rather impressive staying power with some lacing. Smells of apple, yeast and some kind of tropical fruit. Tastes very strongly of Belgian style yeast with tropical fruit and oddly enough I swear there was a hint of bubble gum. Just a dahs of vanilla as well. Mouthfeel is heavy, a bit like watered down motor oil which is a hallmark for a fine beer. This kind of specialty beer is exactly why brand loyalty is so difficult for a complex person like me to keep! Samuel Adams hit a home run with this one!
3.7 A really good Samuel Adams beer...love the bottle style...lots of flavor..solid.
3.1 Pours a clear deep golden with a gigantic eggshell colored head. The head dissipates with a soap sudsy look. Belgian golden ale nose with spice muted by the oak barrel. Moderately heavy mouthfeel with a slight carbonation burn. Vibrant flavors. Drinks like a Belgian strong ale with the bubblegum and spiciness of a tripel. Some tropical esters.
3.8 Definite Belgian yeast flavor. Slightly fruity. Pretty good. ---Rated via BeerBuddy for iPhone.
3.6 25.4oz bottle 11/13/15 (Sam’s Club Variety Pack)-38° in Tulip-Pours a pale gold with a big white head and lots of carbonation. Aroma of yeast, citrus, and fruits. Taste of the same with a bit of alcohol and more fruit(apple and pears). This medium bodied brew is not bad and pretty darn tasty.
3.8 Pours copper with a fluffy white head. Aroma is apples, pears and Belgian yeasts. Lots of belgian yeast in the taste, some apple again, some vanilla notes too. Lively fermentation but a nice take on a belgian classic.
