Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat

Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat

Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® follows the centuries old American tradition of brewing beer with native ingredients, in this case Michigan cherries as well as a touch of honey. The sweet fruitiness of the cherries is balanced against the crisp, cereal note from the malted wheat and the subtle citrus flavor from the Noble hops. The end result is a sweet, refreshing beer that is light on the palate but long on complexity.

Introduced in 1995 as a summer seasonal brew, Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® developed a large enough following to be introduced as a year round style. Its distinct cherry character has made it one of the most unique and well liked styles of Samuel Adams® beer ever.

Cherries are added at two different points during the brewing process. Once during the mash and again during finishing.

2.8 (12oz bottle) AROMA: cherry, syrup, hint of sweet sweet corn, APPEARANCE: dirty straw, touch of red and brown, slighlty hazy, ok head, dense/creamy foam TASTE: some sweetness, fruity, cherry, vanilla, oak, touch artificial/medicinal/alcoholy and herbal PALATE: bright and spritzy, medium light body, clean, some acidicy OVERALL: just an average beer, not one of Sam Adams best, nose is too much cherry for me, i do like the woodsy part of the cherry vanilla taste. If they reduced the cherriness by half and let the wheatness come out, could be a good beer.
2.9 ABV - 5.3 IBU - 23 .Appearance: Hazy amber color, foamy white head. Good lacing, not much head retention. .Aroma: Cherry syrup. .Taste: Cherry syrup, very tart, slight malt backbone, long aftertaste of artificial cherry syrup. .Mouthfeel: Creamy, medium body, moderate carbonation. .Overall: C. .An overpowering cherry syrup flavor gets in the way of what could of potentially been a decent beer. For one this beer looks great in the glass, but the aroma has no complexity... Cherries; but not like freshly picked cherries, more like the cherry syrup that was put in your Shirley Temple as a child. The taste follows suit. I will say the palate was nice, surprisingly nice mouthfeel, right amount of carbonation, but that dam cherry taste lingers so long. Good if you're thirsty on a warm summer day, but ones enough. After that find yourself a Boston Lager.
1.0 wow, is this a beer or a candy? the cherry flavor is so pronounced, I thought I was drinking some cough syrup. yuck. really, really disappointed
2.7 12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium, poorly retained off white head, with no lacing, over a hazy dark yellow (SRM 4) body......nose is heavy drug store type cherry, minimal malts and hops......taste is sweet, but slightly sour pie cherry, with mild malt tones, finishing with almost hints of hops......mouth feel, light watery body, no alcohol, moderate carbonation. The base wheat beer is too light for the style, with utter fruit domination. Also the label on the bottle has been completely changed from the initial picture. BJCP 5/3/9/4/5
3.2 Cerezita refrescante
1.6 A sickly sweet artificial cherry smell, pours a pinkish red color with a thin white head. Taste is awful, sweet lasting, (very long lasting) cherry koolaid taste. Watery body with a never ending cherry after taste. I had to have an IPA to get the taste out of my mouth.
4.8 beaut
2.1 Bottle from Vons, Las Vegas. Drunk from the bottle. The aroma contains (sour) cherry, wheat, marzipan and hops. It tastes medium to heavy sweet, toning down to light sour and light bitter. The finish is astringent, dry and crisp. A bit harsh on the tongue. Light body, slick/syrupy texture, lively carbonation. Not very nice to drink.
3.6 12 oz. bottle. AROMA: Strong cherry scent with some wheat undertones. APPEARANCE: Slightly hazy with an orangeish-gold color. The head is crisp-white, tall, and has a tight froth that dissipates slowly. TASTE: Medium sweet with just the right balance of cherry flavor (not too much, not too little). PALATE: Medium bodied with a smooth, creamy texture. Average carbonation and a slow finish with more of that cherry sweetness. OVERALL: The cherry flavor is not over-powering, nor is it overly sweet. Which makes for a very refreshing beer on a hot day!
3.6 From old tasting notes. Bright yellow gold color. Thick creamy white head. Sweet cherry aroma. Interesting cherry malt flavor with hints of almond and coconut. Dryish hop finish.
3.2 Hazy orange, long lasting foam. Smells of cough drops, cherry cough drops and wheat. Same with the taste and I like. Colour me strange.
1.0 Smells and tastes like cherry flavored cough syrup. WTF is up with that. Glad i didn’t actually have to pay for this crap. Still better than bud light though.
3.4 Pours a slightly hazy light orange with a finger of fluffy white head. Aroma is heavy maraschino cherry and almond extract. Flavor is sweet and nutty with more cherry almond flavor lingering on the palate.
3.3 Hazy, golden straw color with a short lived head of white foam. Cherries all the way on the aroma. Light cereal grain and cherries on the palate. A moderate harsh burn at the finish. A little syrupy but still friendly enough in the end.
3.1 12 oz bottle. Pours a golden color with a medium white head. Aroma is dominated by cherry. Flavor is predominantly fruity cherry, with some underlying citrus from the hops. Light bodied with a long cherry finish.
2.9 Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Sam Adams tulip glass. Hazy straw color and cherry aroma. First few sips were good but near the end it started to taste more like cherry cough medicine.
2.9 I’ve had this many times prior but I guess I never rated so grabbed a supermarket since looking for tick in that weak place is difficult. Straw colored. Tastes of straw amd Cheryl an wheat, nose is fruitlet that flavor. Finishes a tad medicinal.
3.7 Pours hazy dark yellow, medium white head. Aroma is overwhelming sweet cherries, barest hint of wheat and honey. Taste is wheat, honey, spicy hops, and cherry, not as sweet as might have been expected from the aroma. Mouthfeel is light to medium. Bether than I expected. Taste could come together better though. I may like this more than some do because of memories of childhood Dr Peppers.
3.4 Cloudy yellow pour with a thin off-wheat head. Cherry dominates the aroma. The cherry hits your taste buds first. The cherry is pie like and the wheat backbone keeps it in check.
2.6 Strong cherry nose with touches of hops and wheat. Pours cloudy, dark golden with persistent white foam. Soft, slightly sticky mouth feel with moderate carbonation. The cherry flavor is strong, almost candy-like. The finish is surprisingly dry, but the effect overall is disappointing. The cherry needs some acid to balance it.
2.8 Pours a very hazy dark golden color. About two fingers eggshell head. Fair retention, fair lacing. Aroma is of cherries, and wheat. That’s about all. Smells pretty good. Taste is bittersweet cherries. I taste the wheat in there too. Oh, it tastes like fruitcake. Meh. Mouthfeel is kinda blah. It’s like your eating cherries, and you need to spit out the pit, but you can’t at the moment. So you walk around with the pit in your mouth, and you get that papery bitterness...you know what I mean. Well, it’s wet. It’s medium bodied. Overall, it’s not so good. I anticipated this to be great, but it’s not. I don’t know where they went wrong. Too much cherry, not sweet enough? I would not recommend this. I won’t be picking it up again.
2.3 Bottle. Gold in color with a frothy white head. Aroma is fruity with a strong cherry cough syrup flavoring.
1.0 I forgot how much I dislike this beer. I had it from the bottle. The aroma is artificial cherry. The taste is overly sweet and artificial cherry and wheat. It’s thick and syrupy. This beer is so overly sweet and heavy. It’s probably the worst beer Sam Adams has to offer.
0.9 600th US rating. Pours a hazy dark straw from a bottle. I’m going to be honest here, this is a horrible beer. Tastes like cough syrup, just....just horrible.
2.1 I can see how this is popular for the masses - it’s got a Blue Moon-like fruitiness going on with all the cherries. But it’s probably a little to heavy on the bready wheat flavor for the masses, and definitely too heavy on the sweet cherry flavor for beer geeks. I guess it’s an alright beer, but it’s just kind of, I don’t know, weird. Like it doesn’t know if it wants to appeal to the masses or to beer snobs, and so frankly it doesn’t do either very well.
2.9 Bottle in hotel room Orlando 2016... Amber... Sweet vanilla coke nose... Soft sweet fruits... Light fruits.. Light herbal cherry... Bit blah... But soft herbal cherry
3.6 Nez: tres cerise Visuel: legere effervescente, legere dentelle couleur orange Gout: un gout tres leger cerise, tres bonne biere buvable lete, tres raffrechissante
1.9 Aroma: sweet cherries, kinda pleasant. App: murky gold, medium white head. Taste: like cherry syrup, almost tastes like cough medicine but not quite as thick. Palate: Thick, almost like a porter. Highly carbonated. Short finish. Overall: Barely drinkable quite frankly. I can see the appeal for people who don’t like good beer though.
3.5 Hazy gold pour with a white head. The is very close to a cherry Jolly Rancher. It has a medium body with average carbonation. The taste is mildly sweet with some light tartness.
3.5 12oz Flasche. Braun-rotes Bier mit luftigem Schaum. Kräftiger Kirschduft. Geschmack herbe Kirsche an der Grenze zur kandierten Kirsche. Im Abgang auch Hefe und etwas Säure. Mir hat es geschmeckt.
