Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock

Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock

Samuel Adams® partnered with Scharffen Berger Chocolate to develop their newest innovation, Samuel Adams® Chocolate Bock. Tettnang Tettnanger and Spalt hops were hand-selected from the world’s oldest growing area and combined with a complex selection of malts including two row Pale, Munich and caramel to create a rich and satisfying brew. This dark beer has a big, malty character that is combined with the subtle sweetness of chocolate. The chocolatiers at Scharffen Berger crafted an exclusive blend of chocolate for Samuel Adams® made with cocoa beans from Ghana called forastero. Samuel Adams® Chocolate Bock was aged on a bed of this chocolate to create its unique layers of flavor. As the beer matured, the fruity, tart, earthy and chocolate aromas were infused into the liquid to give the brew a complex, full-bodied taste with a velvety finish. A hint of vanilla was added to meld the symphony of flavors together.
Due to legal restrictions, Samuel Adams® Chocolate Bock can not be sold in the states of Alabama, Louisiana, and Utah.

3.6 Found out of bottle from a variety pack. The appearance is an appealing dark with slight tan head. Aroma was light chocolate but the taste was delicious. Sweet chocolate that was well mixed and present throughout. Great winter option and would definitely drink again.
4.5 I do like iPas and the biter stuff but I hav admit that I love a sweet ale like this one. Smells a little like root beer. Sweet but not too.
3.2 Pours dark brown with a coffee colored head. Aroma of malt. Tastes like coffee with a toasted note to it. Palate includes chocolate and coffee notes. Really good, full bodied.
3.6 I was very stoked to get this in the 2010 Winter Classics variety pack...went out and grabbed a second 12-pack. Actually liked this better the first time I tried it, but after the 4th sample got a little old. Glad I didn't sample this first with the big bottle for $14-$15, as that would of been a bit dissapointing. Still, a very good beer and seems like it is seasonal. Not as thick as a chocolate stout, but has good flavor and balanced nicely with a hoppy finish. Probably had my fill for now, but will look forward to this again next year.
3.9 Very chocolatey in a good way: not too sweet and with a dark chocolate backbone. Malt and yeast, slight roasted aroma. Pleasant aftertaste, surprisingly good beer.
3.6 Very nice chocolate brew. Smooth and easy to drink but without really any carbonation. Not overly chocolate but just the right amount. Good beer!
3.6 12/19/17 Had with Mark and Sarah on an improvised beer night. Look: almost opaque with a tan head. Label is kinda fun too. Aroma: Really chocolate forward. Taste: ridiculously chocolatey - like a YooHoo Palate: Medium mouthfeel Overall: This is a beer lover's version of a YooHoo and it's delicious.
3.4 Black pour with fast diminishing beige head. Not much carbonation. Silky smooth taste with vanilla and chocolate. Medium body with a filling finish. A good desert beer.
3.5 Bottle, Ann Arbor, MI. Chocolate prune aroma. Heavy molasses with some bright hops. Long bright finish.
3.4 It pours black with a beige head. The aroma is big on chocolate with some vanilla. The taste is chocolate, vanilla, coffee, and fruit. The chocolate is definitely the star here. It's smooth. It's not too sweet. I wouldn't session it though. It's a good change of pace or dessert beer.
3.0 Dark color and sweet aroma are give aways to this beers nature. Flavor is chocolate and Caramel. Good not great
3.7 (12oz bottle) AROMA: soft chocolate, nutty, bark/wood/forest APPEARANCE: deep dark reddish brown, almost black, mocha colored head TASTE: creamy chocolate, touch of coffee/mocha, some sweetness and a bit of fruity sourness, cream and vanilla PALATE: medium body, not extra heavy, creamy, smooth, touch of dark dryness on the end OVERALL: yummy, sweet, milky chocolate. Kind of like a dessert version of a stout. Something different and fun, but maybe not everyone's choice because of the sweetness.
3.9 This is delicious for a Samuel Adams beer, cocoa roasted malt aroma and flavor. Full bodied smooth beer with slight sweet chocolate finish and cocoa bitter balance. Impressive.
3.1 A good bock, love the title for it. Definitely has some chocolate undertones.
4.3 Chocolate addict here. I will begin by saying this is, IMHO, Sam Adam's best offering. Bottle pour. Strong chocolate aroma. Black in color. Taste is, well, chocolate, malty, satisfying. The chocolate does seem to leave the palate quicker than I'd like, but when it's there, it's excellent. If you like chocolate, give it a try.
4.0 Pours almost black, nice brown head. ,Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, malt, earth. Taste is richly chocolaty, like an elegant chocolate bar, a hint of earthy, floral hops, slightly sweet, hinys of dark fruit. Very nice.
4.0 tastes like authentic chocolate, aroma is on par too. no foam but decent consistency. great for the price.
2.9 Pours a dark brown with a khaki head. Aromas of chocolate and caramel. Taste the same with a little malt sweetness. Not bad. Light to medium palate with a little lacing in the glass.
3.1 Pretty much exactly what it says it is, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Gentle caramel malt notes give way to a milk chocolate center, hints of raisin and fig with slight hints of java and floral hops. Finishes semidry, but the chocolate never leaves the palate, leading to a cocoa-dusted fade. Too confectionary for my tastes, but drinkable. Pours dark brown with a minor beige head and slight lacing. Chocolate nose, no more, no less. Good texture keeps the sweetness from growing clingy and artificial. Okay.
3.7 Pours dark mahogany with a thin, light tan head. Aroma is cocoa, caramel and roast. Taste is chocolate and caramel, moving to roast. Finish is sweet chocolate and roast.
3.7 From bottle @ home. Dark brown pour, thick cocoa head. Roasted malt, caramel nose. Flavors are a nice balance of semi-sweet chocolate, malt, caramel. Delicious cocoa finish.
3.6 12 ounce bottle at home, winter mix pack. I love the aroma, you can smell the chocolate. Very smooth, light carbonation. Black is the color of this brew. Medium thickness as you can taste the chocolate. No after bite. Very nice beer! Don’t forgot to mention the malt in this beer. YummY
3.8 Pours a very brown color, very nearly black. Good head, beige color. Pretty good lacing. Aroma is chocolate, and that’s about it. But smells great. Tastes like chocolate. It’s sweet. If any bitterness, it’s from the natural chocolate bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied. Smooth. Pretty dry. Sweet. Thin. Tastes like a dessert beer. Overall, while it is really one dimensional, it is delicious. I’d drink it again. I’d buy it and recommend it. Probably the perfect beer to take to a party, or to give as a present.
3.8 12 oz. bottle. Pours black, foamy tan head. Aroma was malty, roasted malts, cocoa, nuts. Taste was sweet, milk chocolates, cocoa, smooth.
2.6 Bottle pour. Chocolate and coffee aroma. Very dark brown with a small tan head. Medium body. Miley sweet flavor.
3.9 Cerveza color oscuro. Excelente cerveza perfectamente balanceada.
2.6 355ml embossed bottle. Brown pour with reddish hues, foamy tan head. Aroma is amero-lagery, some cocoa and fruits. Flavor is sweet chocolatey, this is super sweet and a bit thin, not hte greatest.
3.1 Bottled from winter variety pack. Pours Coca-Cola brown, off white head. Aroma is chocolate, very sweet chocolate, some caramel, sticky sweet, thick syrupy feeling. Flavor is chocolate, sweet, roasted malt, syrupy, sweet. Surprisingly effervescent compared to the nose. Not bad.
2.4 This was not my style: too much chocolate and too little beer. It came off as a creamy mixture of beer and cocoa.
3.7 Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a glass. Black with dark brown highlights and medium/small beige head. Aroma is chocolate, medium/light body, lower carbonation, and small bubble lacing. Taste is chocolate and some roasted malt. Pretty good beer.
