Samuel Adams Coastal Wheat

Samuel Adams Coastal Wheat

Hazy and golden in color, this brew is a fresh twist on the popular Hefeweizen style. Eureka and Lisbon lemons, from three growing regions in California, balance out the wheat malt character, resulting in a crisp and refreshing wheat ale with subtle lemon flavor. Cheers!

1.2 Bottle pour clear yellow. Nose supposed to smell like lemon and wheat, but to me smelled like a urinal. Taste had chemically tart lemon and slight chlorine finish. Had to drain pour this one
3.0 Bottle: Pale golden color with a light haze and lots of bubbles. A finger of creamy white head. The lemon is strong in the aroma, along with a little maltiness, and lighter florals. Taste is more wheat oriented than the aroma would suggest; wheat, light grass, and just enough lemon/citrus to notice. Sessionable.
2.9 Sweet wheat aroma with hints of lemon. Cloudy golden color with a medium white head. Mild sweet cardboard flavor with a sticky palate.
3.3 Poured from a bottle into a Samuel Adams pint glass. Ah, it’s been too long since I’ve had a Sam Adams... I wound up getting a Brewmaster Variety Pack. This was included with Irish Red and Latitude 48 IPA -- the latter of which I’ve already had. Appearance: There’s next to no head on this beer... none at all. It’s very thing and wispy. As for the lacing, there’s none of that to speak of. The color of the beer is nice... a hazy yellow color that reminds me of Mountain Dew when I put it up to the light. Smell: Very wheat-heavy, with traces of citrus in there as well. Pleasant, but nothing overpowering or too exciting. Taste: Above average, but nothing that’ll make your pupils dilate. I feel like this could well be Samuel Adam’s summer beer because it’s really easy to drink. Clean, wheaty, citrusy... tasty. Mouthfeel: Watery, with mild carbonation, but smooth as it foams up a bit on your tongue. Pretty average. Overall, I really like Coastal Wheat. Far from my favorite Sam Adams beer, but I’ll have no problem drinking the other that’s in the six-pack. Another good offering from S.A.
2.8 12oz bottle. Hazy yellow appearance, decent-size head. Yeasty aromas with a bit of spice. I didn’t get too much of the lemon taste, but it definitely has "wheat-y" roots. It’s not bad, but I’d rather drink a real hefeweizen, or a witbier - not this.
2.7 bottle. Poured straw coloured with a thin white head. Light malt aroma. Thin mouthfeel, tight carbonation, slightly dry finish. Taste is lightly lemony with pale malt.
4.0 This pale wheat ale pours a light golden yellow and has the delicate taste of wheat and lemons. A great summer beer as it drinks lightly and tastes great. Another great beer from Sam Adams.
2.4 Appearance: hazy golden color, smaller white head, Aroma: lemon, fruity, faint Taste: lemon, some wheat, Palate: bit of froth, if anything a bit of lemon finish Overall: not very complex, not bad or great, easy drinking would be a good session beer
2.7 Bottle. Pours a hazy gold with a large white head. Lemon, wheat and yeast aromas with a light hint of spice. Lemon flavor with wheat and yeast notes. Light hints of tart fruit and spices. Thin and light throughout. Similar finish with some added floral hop notes and a touch more spice.
2.8 Wife let me sample some of hers. Bottle into a pint glass. Hazy yellow color with white head. Aroma of wheat, citrus and yeast. Taste is light and refreshing, not much character though. Easy drinking for warmer weather.
3.1 fizzy yellow. light and refreshing. lemoney taste. i would call this a "palate cleanser". good for summer.
2.6 Bottle->shaker. Hazy yellow with white head. Aroma is faint yeast, wheat, and citrus. Taste is same, but quite dull. Overall weak.
3.0 Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. The lemon is noticeable, but it comes across sweet. Slight dough in the nose, making it hard to smell anything else. The flavor is dusty wheat beer, very little character.
1.9 This twisted hefeweizen has a fruity, mainly lemony, aroma, but with an unfortunate hint of old canned fruit. Similarly, the flavor is fruity with some lemon, as expected, but with a vague impression of old canned fruits and ripe bananas. No sign of hops in this mildly sweet brew. O: Not a beer style I’d seek out but even so, disappointing.
2.4 Sloghtly stale flavor, with a bit of yeast in te background. Dirty SA finish without much to get excited about. Ok, but not thrilled about this one.
2.8 Similar to the summer ale jsut a little more wheat in there. Slight citrus soapy taste at first. Decent brew nothing great nothing bad had it a couple times enjoyed it.
2.9 Another citrus summer beer from Sam Adams. This one is significantly more wheat than it’s cousin the Summer Ale. Also it has a significant amount of yeast sediment which some may find unpalatable although not as much as some of the stricter yeast heavy German styles.
2.6 The lemon makes makes it feel almost like some sort of perfumated soap/detergent. Weak, undercarbonated palate. Little harmony between the hops and the wheat/yeast.
2.9 A zesty wheat beer that is pretty much like the others. Thickly hazy orange color capped with white foam. Tangy orange-marmelade nose, juicy navel orange taste, and virtually no bitterness to speak of. Ends sweet and wet. I suspect they mailed this one in to please a certain Blue Moon-swilling demogaphic. Bidness!
2.8 bottle - Pours hazy yellow with a small white head. Lemon is clearly pleasant in the aroma along with some mild wheat. The flavor is sweet, citrusy and rather bland. It’s light bodied and refreshing in the summer, but offers little more to recommend it. Decent.
2.5 Somewhat hazy yellow with small/no foam head. Aroma is lemon, taste is a bit too sweet weizen with distinct lemon fravor. Not quite my style, sweet fresh lemon aftertaste (Houston 201208)
2.4 It’s got a slightly metallic aroma to it. Pours a dark gold with a moderate head. Citrusy and floral taste, but not a particularly interesting beer.
2.9 Bottle from Little Brothers. Nice orange body with medium head. Nose of grains, malts and lemon. Taste similar with malts, and grains but plenty of lemon. Kind of a summer beer. Not really my thing.
2.6 Orange and gold pour with a small white head. Earthy, grassy and some lemony flavors. It’s a decent wheat beer with a little lemony flavor.
2.5 Bottle poured into a shaker. Lots of lemon and wheat. Not bad, but Sam Adams has a lot better stuff.
2.5 Already not my favorite style. Pours a hazy golden as expected. Aroma is grassy, with lemon zest and pretty prominent alcohol. Taste is quite underwhelming. Its thin and the finish has an unpleasant metallic/acidic texture. I am generally a fan of SA offerings, but this one falls way short.
2.5 July 4, 2012 bottle from MGM. Golden orange pour with some head. Aroma was lemon and grain/wheat. Taste was consistent with aroma, but had an unpleasant aftertaste. Thin bodied with little carbonation. I typically like wheat beers but this did not tickle my fancy.
3.9 OK SA, a solid summer brew! lemon flavor and aroma. Balanced of citrus tartness and sweetness with a little spicy hops. Clean, crisp and refreshing.
0.8 Drank from a 12oz. bottle. Not very impressed by this one. Aroma is kind of bland while the color is okay. Has a very carbonated taste with a limony aftertaste
2.2 Drank from a 12 oz bottle. I didn't dig the aftertaste and the beginning of the taste was a little sweet for me. Not really into wheat beers either.
