3.2 Pours slightly hazy golden color with white head. Aromas of grass and biscuit malt. Grassy hop flavor with some biscuit malt and a hint of fruit.
2.5 Hay aroma, some plastic. Hazy amber, thin head. Hay, light dandelion and plastic. Light body, moderate carbonation. True to style, a little industrial.
2.9 Jan. 11, 2016; 12 oz. bottle from SA sampler 12-pack. Despite this nondeScript, summery brew not getting any love here, it’s much better than a couple of the other offerings remaining untouched in this Winter sampler.
3.0 Bottle from Cabin Pack mixed 12 pack Box Stamped Enjoy by May, 2016 Actual bottle stamped 3475 so bottled on 12/1315 Into a Reisdorf stange. A: Pours a turbulent finger high beige head. Slightly murky dark gold color with busy carbonation. S: Dry scent of crisp white crackers and a touch of dry white wine grape. T: Dry as expected with a starchy cracker bite. Grassy hop note is Echoes the white wine from the nose. Dry crisp, but strong tasting. M: Light and very effervescent. Very easy-drinking. O: Overall pretty good example of a Kolsch if not exceptional. Two in a pack is OK but I would not be interested in purchasing six packs.
2.9 Hazy yellow with a small head. The aroma is light, sweet malt, and some fruitiness from the yeast. Flavor is malt, some mellow esters. Not bad, but not much going on, but drinkable.
3.2 Bottle. Pours orange-gold with white head and lacing. Grass with some citrus aroma. Citrus with some sweet, grassy malt. Short finish.
2.1 Not a bad beer at all. A Kolsch from Samuel Adams! Good, but it’s too bad they refuse to brew anything above 5% alcohol.
2.8 Rated on 12-11-2015 (Bottle) This beer’s appearance is a medium sized white head that mostly diminished, yellow hazy body, fizzy and very lively carbonation observed, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is grainy, fruity and malt. The flavor is grainy, citrus, light spice, and crisp. The mouthfeel is light carbonation and this beer is light-medium bodied. A quaffable beer but it is not all that great tasting and an easily forgettable beer.
(Rating #6431)
2.9 Bottle with friends. Golden Pour with a decent head. Not much else to describe. Not bad, just not exciting.
2.3 12 oz. bottle. Pours golden with small white head. Aroma of malts and grain. Taste is slightly bitter.
3.6 Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a lightly hazed golden amber color with a two finger head of thick white foam. Over time the head starts to fade, leaving just a moderate sum of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is strongest of a crisp cracker smell mixed with some bready and fruit aromas of a more apple and pear nature. Along with these smells comes some lighter notes of a yeasty smell and a little bit of a grassy hop. Taste – The taste begins with a nice blend of cracker, bread, and some fruit. The fruit is strongest of an apple and pear smell but contains some lighter notes of citrus as well. Right from the start there is a yeasty and grassy taste, with these flavors getting stronger as the taste moves on further. All the while, the apple and pear fruit fade ever so slightly, but are replaced by a mix of sweet citrus and some grapefruit hop flavors. With some hay and grain flavors coming more toward the end, one is left with a rather crisp and refreshing yeasty kolsch flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thinner side with a carbonation level that is rather high. For the style the feel is rather nice and suits the easy drinking feel and crisp refreshing nature of the brew. Overall – A rather enjoyable and refreshing spring/summer style brew with a crisp and flavorful taste.
2.9 Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty grainy aroma. Fruity malty grainy crisp flavor. Has a fruity malty grainy crisp weak grassy finish.
3.2 Bottle. Deep golden color, nice even foam layer. Very light aroma, corn grain-ish. Flavor is similar but reasonably balanced with some bitterness and mineral notes. Essentially a decent mild lager.
2.5 Bottle. Pours a hazy copper color with white head.Grainy, herbal, straw, earthy aromas. Grainy, straw, syrupy, herbal flavors. Meh.
3.3 Bottle en route to JFK. Pours clear gold with a foamy white head. The nose has some biscuity pale malts, slight jammy citrus, grain. Light-medium sweet flavor with pleasant dry biscuits, corn bread, hay, citrus rind. Light bodied with average carbonation. OK balance to finish, some pale bread, more biscuits, lemon peel, dough, faint white grape, cereal. Pretty tasty overall.
2.9 Pours golden yellow with a white soapy head. Aroma of grass and grain with a bready flavor with hints of grass and yeast. Not bad.
2.5 12 FL OZ ($ ???) drank this at my brothers house and thank god it was my escape route. lol. taste was like an easy going lager. could easily kill a 6 pack so keep that in mind fellow alcoholics, you will need backup.
3.0 Pours a cloudy orange, with tan head. Aroma of light citrus. Taste of a nice Kolsch, with citrus notes. Very refreshing and satisfying. Thumbs up.
2.8 Clear straw yellow pour. Quickly disapating head. Light malt cereal aroma. Grassy flavor, light and nice carbonation.
3.2 Draft at Moriartys. Cloudy amber gold pour that starts with a strong frothy white head. Lots of lace. Orangey witbier aroma. Tastes of sweet clementine marmalade on buttery croissants. Honey tangerines. More citrus and fuller body than I was expecting. Has some yeasty/bready notes that feel properly German, but not necessarily Kolsch. Misses the style, but not all that bad.
3.2 Bottle. Pours a murky gold with almost no head. Aroma is lemony. The looks were not appealing but the taste is very refreshing with some lemon up front, malt in the middle and a dry end. Not a whole lot of flavor but a nice light spring beer.
2.7 12oz bottle from Spirits Manahawkin. Pours a mostly clear gold body with a smaller quick fading white head. Aroma/flavor is mostly malts, bready, grains lightly sweet, fruity esters. Very boring beer.
2.2 Bready and slightly fruity. Very mild mannered in a lack luster way. Over all very simple and boring.
2.4 Pours a deep yellow with significant white head. Aroma of hay, banana. Slick texture, light body, medium carbonation. Very light malt flavor with hop bitterness. Not very strong flavor on this one, but it is not bad.
2.7 12 ounce bottle. Pours a hazy gold with a one inch white head that lasts. Taste is of malt, caramel, hops, citrus, grass, yeast and dark fruit. Similar aroma. Has a decent body with a fruity finish. Easy to drink, but could be more rounded.
2.2 Weak and watery with some sweet corn and a bready malt base. Very underwhelmed, perhaps this is an authentic kolsch, perhaps not. If so, its hard to claim that this is a significantly different beer than your basic pale lager.
2.8 Light and refreshing drink for the early spring sunshine. Some fruit but mostly water and a somewhat annoying metallic note at the dry end.
2.4 bottled - cloudy golden appearance. Slightly malty, hoppy, fruity taste. Slight hop and citrus aroma. Decent.
3.0 bottle - Pours yellow-gold with a two finger white head. It has a mild aroma with grain and citrus. The flavor is mild and sweet with malt grain, fruit esters, and a mild bitterness. Light bodied. Okay.
