Samuel Adams Fat Jack Double Pumpkin

This rich and luscious brew indulges in flavor with over 28Ibs of pumpkin per barrel, for a full bodied sweetness and deep russet color. Classic pumpkin pie spices of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice ignite a warmth and spark that’s deepened by an undercurrent of roasty smoked malts. The result is a delectable brew full of enveloping layers of flavor and spice.

4.0 Not necessarily a heavy pumpkin flavor but still present. Leaning towards the sweet side.
2.1 Absolutely terrible beer. Rotten, sugary pumpkin flavour with some funk and garbage thrown in. Never again.
3.9 courtesy of Philipp Sigg - reddish-brown beer with a moderate foam left; light notes of cinnamon and stronger notes of pumpkin; full-bodied, lively, chewy. heavy and sweet; notes of alcohol, pumpkin, earth, red fruits and cinnamon
3.4 Bottle from Seth dmacFarlane. Thanks bro! Pours a dark amber/brown with a nice 2 fingers of pillowy khaki foam. Aroma is full of caramel/toffee, marzipan, pumpkin meat, dark fruit, and pumpkin pie spices. Taste of sweet caramel, hints of booze, pumpkin meat, raisins, rotted citrus, and pumpkin pie spice.
3.8 Lots of caramelized roasted pumpkin in the aroma along with some well integrated cinnamon, clove, and ginger; beautiful deep ruby-amber-orange color with a large, lasting pumpkin-beige colored head; rich and roasted caramel maltiness and great roasted pumpkin character, pie spice is there too, but it’s fairly subtle and well-integrated, spiciness seems to be cinnamon, ginger, and a touch of allspice, a touch roasty and reminds me of Fall and dried leaves; medium body, smooth, and touch creamy; this is a really nice pumpkin ale that I enjoy every year, but have apparently now just rated; this is a super solid beer that doesn’t immediately scream pumpkin, I like this a lot.
3.8 500ml bottle served in a pint glass. Pours a dark amber to brow color forming a solid and persistent tan head. Great nose. Sweet and spicy. Strong notes of cinnamon, honey, roasted and caramel malts and pumpkin. Slightly peppery end. Good notes of grassy hops. Taste follows the nose. Slightly sweet upfront. Honey, cinnamon, roasted malts, pumpkin, grassy hops. Light hops bitterness. Full body. Average carbonation. Caramel, pumpkin cake and spices in the aftertaste. Quite solid pumpkin ale. Not very sweet as many of the other of this style. Great beer.
3.7 Aroma is honey, cinnamon, all spice and honey. Taste is sweet roasted malts, cinnamon and all spice. Packs a punch but overall more of a beer than, say, an overload of added spices to a bland beer. Appearance is a clear amber with a thin pearl head that retains quite well.
4.0 Light cinnamon a aroma. Very dark brown color almost like a stout. Lots of sweet pumpkin flavor. One of the better pumpkin beers.
3.1 Trying it out from an yr aged bottle: from a distance in bottle roasted pumpkin seeds, pumpkin a little spice and ale in smell. In glass smell seems fruity and a tad spiced/pumpkin like. 2-3 finger head dark red look. Taste wise dunno how it differs from a fresh bottle but a little pumpkin taste with a bit of the spices in taste maybe more cinnamon and a cold ale taste, but truthfully it reminds me of a fruity(plum ect) Belgum high % beer. It’s good even if it doesn’t seem 100% pumpkin and spiced like. I can’t taste the alcohol but can tell some early on. It’s good and this review is of a 2014 bottle. Cheer’s!!!!
4.1 Pours two fingers of head on a dark straw body. The aroma is an excellent blend of spices, just like a good pumpkin pie. The taste plays between bread crust, malty sweetness and mild bitterness to hold it together. It’s complex and quite drinkable. The texture is smooth. One of the better pumpkin beers out there.
3.1 Draught at the Yard House, Honolulu, HI. Reddish brown color with a small tan head. Spices, pumpkin, sweet malt and mild metal in the aroma. The flavor is sweet malt, spices, pumpkin and more sweetness. Pumpkin beers just ain't my thing.
3.9 Bottle. I am not a pumpkin beer lover, but this isn’t bad. Nice allspice, nutmeg and clove. Hides the alcohol well.
3.4 22 oz. bottle pours a clear copper color with small tan head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is mostly cinnamon and nutmeg, but not overpowering. Taste is sweet, like a pumpkin pie, with only slight bitterness only in the finish. Body is medium with average carbonation. I’m not a big fan of pumpkin beers. Too many breweries decide they have to do something like this each fall, but this one has its merits, and I may try it again next year.
3.7 has a nice cinnamon and nutmeg aroma. Taste is nice blend of pumpkin nutmeg and cinnamon, a nice semi creamy body. One of the better pumpkin beers.
3.6 650ml brown bottle. Orange/amber. Dark beige foam. Sweet and spicy nose - big caramel and clove and nutmeg notes. Taste has sweet caramel malt base with nutmeg, slight earth pumpkiny notes and grains. Light spicy aftertaste with some lingering sweetness. Medium bodied. Rich and sweet, pretty nice but not particularly boozy for it’s strength. A good fall pumpkin ale if you like them on the sweeter side.
3.5 Poured into a perfect pint. 5.0 A: Clear copper color. Three fingers of creamy tan head. Retention is very good and glass covering lacing is left. 3.5 S: While not the most adventurous nose, it is pleasant. Cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg, but I’d prefer a heftier dose. Pumpkin gives a nice earthiness. Caramel and toasted malts, but on the drier side. 3.75 T: Taste has more power in it than the nose. The pumpkin in particular stands out more. Again the spices mentioned above are on the mild side. Caramel and toasted malts. Good. 4.0 M: Medium body. Nice creaminess to this with chewiness. Good moderate carbonation. 3.75 D: Tasty beer. Other than it being a bit tame, it’s tasty and drinks well. ★ 709 characters DavoleBomb, Nov 21, 2013
3.3 650ml bottle pours a deep amber color with a 2 finger light brown head that leaves some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is pumpkin with cinnamon, nutmeg and other pumpkin spices. Taste is a big pumpkin and chocolate malty sweetness with the cinnamon and nutmeg and a herbal and grassy hop bitterness. Full bodied with mild carbonation. Some alcohol is noticeable. A bit too much over the top for my tastes. The pumpkin and spices seem to stand out more than they should.
3.3 Bomber. I had this before as Double Pumpkin but didn’t record the tick. I think it was the dark days when so many ticks were lost. I weep for them. Let’s get this out of the way: I like pumpkin beers. If you don’t, you can go eat pumpkin spice flavored poop. This beer pours a brilliant clear dark reddish amber with a lasting khaki head. The aroma is quite nice, pumpkin pie with loads of spices. Some boozy notes. The flavor is a bit overdone, certainly the ginger and possibly the ’meg as well. Lots of pumpkin pie, but too much on some elements. Sweet, close to cloying. The palate is slightly heavy, a little boozy. Overall has some very positive and slightly unenjoyable elements. A mixed bag.
3.6 Backlog. 22 oz bottle shared, from Bullfrog Wine & Spirits. Light brown appearance with a beige head. Mildly spiced with a moderate malt sweetness. Notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, light caramel, ginger, nutmeg, toffee and allspice. Good.
3.6 On Tap ’ Clear rich deep mahogany Nice tan head, that quickly dissipates to a coarse ring. Very nice sweet cidery spicy borwn sugar aroma. Moderate pumpkin holiday spice flavors but decent IBUs Big and smooth and a nice sipper.
2.9 Sampled at ABR 2015.Brown color. Pumpkin is very light and in fact I didn’t pick it up until a friend pointed it out. some squash/pumpkin flavor now that I look for it, none of the spice qualities I usually get in a pumpkin beer. I do not get the cinnamon, ginger or nutmeg.
3.5 Bottle to pint glass Pumpkin, clove, allspice, apple, nutmeg. Dark amber with a thin 1/2 cm creamy head. Pumpkin, allspice, clove, malt.
3.6 Aroma dark fruits, pumpkin, pumpkin spices Appearance red, clear, white foam, Taste medium sweetness, Palate medium body, lively, Overall it tastes more like a quad than a pumpkin beer. It is a good beer but not a pumpkin beer and for that reason I would not suggest this beer to a friend
3.5 Gorgeous ruby-orange color, decent pumpkin pie spices in aroma and flavour....big "fat" malts and damn boozy -this is my second one and I;m too fucked up to go into a lengthy review - just try it and be careful!!!
3.4 (Bottle) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, spicy nose with notes of caramel, dark bread, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and pumpkin. Malty, fruity, spicy taste with caramel, treacle-toffee, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin, wort bread and a sweetish finish with a gentle bitterness and a slightly vinous touch. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. I’m not a great fan of pumpkin beers and it gets a bit sweet after a while, but it’s quite well made and tasty, with the ginger coming through more and more. Quite nice.
3.3 Dark copper color with off white head. Poured from a bottle that was refrigerated. Sweet pumpkin flavor with a hint of cinnamon and spice. Good flavor but a little too sweet for me.
2.9 650ml bottle. Copper body with a medium head. Caramel, pumpkin, spices and alcohol. Too sweet and spicy imo.
3.1 Bomber to stem. Dark orange-copper with thin offwhite head. Standard pumpkin spice and malt, not too sweet, with a lingering bitter spice aftertaste. Eh.
3.8 Bottle from the LCBO. Dark ruby-copper with a finger or so of beige foam. Very nice aroma of sweet caramel, barley candy, earthy pumpkin, and a melange of spices - nutmeg and ginger quite noticeable, cinnamon and allspice supporting. Body is a touch sticky - would benefit from just a bit more carbonation to lighten it up - but still OK. Flavour is just what the aroma promises - sweet maltiness up front, pumpkin pie in the middle, off-dry finish with some twiggy hops toward the back of the palate. Quite a good version of a beer style that I rarely want much to do with.
3.6 Deep brown ruby tinged body. Mild pumpkin nutmeg aroma. Thin tan head. Taste is malt spice nutmeg and of course pumpkin. Smooth, rich and warming down the throat.
