Samuel Adams Hefeweizen

Samuel Adams Hefeweizen

Samuel Adams Hefeweizen has a traditional spin on a classic American craft
brewing style. This crisp, fruity wheat ale is cloudy, because the yeast
has not been filtered out. Bavarian Spalt hops give the ale a crisp
elegance, that is not bitter and leaves a clean aftertaste. Cheers!

3.6 Slightly hazy gold pour with a small white head. The aroma has light cloves and bananas with some herbs. It has a light body with crisp texture and lively carbonation. The taste is sweet with a long-lasting finish.
2.9 12 oz. bottle. AROMA: Scents of lemon, banana, hay, and caramel. APPEARANCE: Hazy and golden, with a tall, white, tight-froth head that dissipates slowly. TASTE: Moderately sweet with flavors of orange citrus, wheat, and spices. PALATE: Medium bodied with a slick texture. Average carbonation and a moderate finish. OVERALL: There’s really nothing special about this beer. It’s not bad and it’s not great. It’s a little on the sweet side, but not sticky sweet. And it’s easy to drink with a nice aroma.
3.5 Hazy , golden color. Medium sized, white head. Dough , banana and cloves in aroma. Taste follows. Easy to drink.
3.8 Spicy dough and banana aroma. A golden body with a faint haze. A smooth dough taste with a mild spiciness. Zesty yet smooth. Mild bodied and very drinkable.
2.9 Hazy golden hue with a fast dissipating bone white head. Semisweet nose with notes of caramelized wheat and light banana bread. Crisp mouthfeel with a medium body and a lot of the same flavor notes that were in the aroma; sweet caramelized wheat, a bit of banana bread, super gentle spices and a bready finish. Average and predictable, but enjoyable.
3.4 Lounge beer on draft Admirals Club JFK T8. Server didn’t know what the "Sam Adams Seasonal" was but this looks and tastes like a hefe. Cloudy variegated golden yellow color. Aroma of citrus bubblegum. Taste is lightly bitter spiced wheat and cutrus, light banana. Decent choice.
1.5 Bottle from Safeway in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is mild perfume, lemon, stargazer lilies. Taste is chalky, floral perfume, something potpourri spiced. Pretty gnarly stuff.
3.5 12 ounce bottle. Hazy honey gold color. Frothy white head; nice lace. Lemony wheat malt nose. Flavor is yeasty wheat with clove notes. Very Bavarian in style and character. Decent.
3.1 Pours a hazy orange with a white head. Aroma of orange and lemon. Taste is sweet with a clove floral finish.
3.2 Pours a golden color. Light head. Aroma of orange and coriander. Average carbonation. Light sweetness. It's pretty good.
2.5 Bottle. Nose big, sloppy clove but not quite bubblegum; heavy wheat, citrus, extremely fruity. Pour hazy pale yellow-golden with an extremely dense, tightly-packed foam cream head. Taste lightly sweet, lightly bready, low bitterness that’s still too high, faintly tart, green apple, dash of lemon, cream. A lot of the fruit anticipated in the nose is gone, and what’s left is basically grainy and bland. Full, heavy body, clean. [2017.07.01: 2.5]
3.2 12 oz bottle from my parent’s fridge. Clear golden appearance with a fluffy off-white head. Aroma of grains, citrus fruit, wheat, light herbs and a mild zesty spice. Similar flavor, adding mild sweetness, light bitterness and a light earthy yeast. Light to medium body with soft carbonation and a smooth finish. Solid Hefe overall.
3.5 Very interesting taste, very sweet but a great beer overall. Wouldn't be my first choice for sam Adams
3.7 Blind tasted with 5 other hefeweizens. Beers were: 1. Baderbräu Wheat 2. Neshaminy Creek Highwater Hefeweizen 3. Erdinger Sommerweiße 4. Aufsesser Hefe-Weizen 5. Wolters Weizen 6. Samuel Adams Hefeweizen. Both raters rated the beers 631245. 355ml embossed bottle. Hazed amber gold pour. Fresh flowery scent, some pepper. Falvor is peppery and zippy, fruity, limey. Astonished that this won the tasting, this beer must have got a makeover or something, this is classic hefe.
3.7 Cloudy unfiltered pale yellow color with a blanketing head of white foam. Banana peel aroma from the unfiltered yeast. An easy drinker with a touch of sweet honey and fresh florals surround it all.
3.2 Bottle. Clear orange amber with a white head. Aroma of banana and sweet bread. Tastes lightly sweet and fruity. Medium bodied.
3.0 Pours a finger of head on a hazy straw body. Aroma is banana and grains. Taste is blunt grain malt and some banana. Texture is too crisp.
5.0 BBD: 9/2017 2015 BJCP Category: 10A Weissbier AROMA: Moderately strong clove phenols. Assertive wheaty/bready aromatics combine with prominent banana yeast esters to create for a lightly sweet banana bread scent. Faint hop presence adds a little bonus smell. Lovely overall. 10/12 APPEARANCE: Very hazy golden/yellow hue. Bubbly body. Large white froth retains and laces well. 3/3 FLAVOR: Well-balanced palette offering a little of many characters. Clove phenols along with hops impart mild spice. Wheat and malt create for a bready character which is lightly sweet and finishes with a delicious banana bread taste due to the yeast esters. Subtle lemonpeel character in the background. A bit of a vanilla flavor on the very finish lingers momentarily into the aftertaste before fading away cleanly. Everything a hefeweizen should be. 20/20 MOUTHFEEL: Medium body; high carbonation. Smooth, creamy texture that finishes with crispness. Deceptively light at 5.4% ABV. Extremely drinkable and highly sessionable. 5/5 OVERALL IMPRESSION: THIS IS A PERFECT BEER! Absolutely to-spec in every way! I can’t find a flaw or anything I’d change about it (except the fact it’s bottled rather than canned). 10/10 TOTAL SCORE: 50/50
3.7 12 oz bottle. Pours hazy golden with tall, long lasting, fluffy white head and nice lacing. Aroma is of funky yeast, wheat malt, spices and bananas. Body is medium and smooth. Wheat malt, yeast, bananas and spices fill the mouth. Finish is long and spicy. Good Hefe.
2.4 Nice thick golden unfiltered pour with 1/2 thick head. Sweet dry bubblegum flavor that has the tell tale banana finish. Not the best hefe but not bad either.
3.3 Bottle. Hazy gold in color with a big frothy white head and lacing. The light aroma was malty with banana, cloves and spice notes. Light bodied. Very tasty.
3.4 12oz bottle part of the summer beers pack 2017. Nose is bubblegum. surprised this is listed as a Wheat Ale. Spicy finish with bug what notes. a tad funky. a little too sweet, but much better than the current 2.7 average.
3.2 Pours a slightly cloudy light amber (not as cloudy or unfiltered as most other hefs). Mild banana and spice taste. Smoother and more forgettable than similar.
3.0 gold color; banana-clove hefeweizen aroma; light banana yeast flavor with spicy clove notes
4.4 Samuel Adams Hefeweizen has a thick, frothy, white head, a hazy, golden appearance, with a descending gray cloud, following the "swish & pour", and some glass lacing. Aroma is of banana, coriander, spiced white bread, and maybe bubble gum base. Taste is of those elements, with a touch of bitterness, at the end of the sip. Mouthfeel is high medium and soft, and Samuel Adams Hefeweizen finishes medium dry. RJT
2.9 Mix 12 pack fodder. Pretty heavy hefe with creamy almost malty body. Has the banana clove taste, pretty sweet. Just okay.
3.6 Way too much hate given to this beer, probably due more to its maker than its actual quality. Not a great hefe, no, but drinkable as hell, offering up strong banana-clove notes while retaining a modestly bitter finish that never roams into soap territory. Yeast pops on the end, and the fade remains appreciably dry. Silky smooth texture feels just about right, and the banana-clove nose is on point. Looks beautiful, by the way, a hazed yellow gold topped by a frothy white head leaving tons o’ lace. Better than the RB average suggests.
2.8 Yeasty aroma of light banana, clove, and vanilla. Bready malt, spicy hop. Pours a hazy golden color with disappearing white head. Dominate clove flavor with subdued banana and bread. Medium bodied with medium co2, lingering yeasty clove finish. I prefer hefeweizen to be more on banana side than clove, but this one is drinkable enough.
3.4 Bottle pour. Cloudy golden with a soapy white head. Aroma is banana and cloves. Thick creamy body. Light bitter with a medium salty finish.
3.0 Had this one years ago and wasn’t all that impressed then and still not all that impressed now. Smells of wheat and some orange and the taste is not much different. It’s OK but seems to be lacking some spice to make it a real Hefeweizen. At least it still comes in bottles!
