Samuel Adams Latitude 48 Deconstructed IPA - Mosaic

Samuel Adams Latitude 48 Deconstructed IPA - Mosaic

Our new 2013 release features Mosaic hops, a new hop from the Pacific Northwest. They add a burst of citrus notes to the distinctive layers of German, English and other American hops, all from growing regions near the "hop belt" of the 48th Latitude. Cheers!

2.9 This my 2nd deconstructed version and I’m not noticing much of a difference. Toffee/caramel malts are too sweet and hops aren’t showcased enough. Not even average.
2.4 Way too sweet for me. Not enough bitter to balance. Remove this hop, get something different in lat 48.
3.4 Bottle at home in CT - picked up at Stateline, pours clear copper with a creamy, off-white head. The nose has ripe melon, orange, some pine. Medium sweet flavor with crackers, lightly toasted malts, some dry caramel, ripe orange, citrus rind, light leafy and piney bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with sweet, bready malts, a bit more caramelisation of the malts, mild pine bitterness, some earth, alcohol, orange rind, grass. Not bad but perhaps a little faded.
3.5 Bottle:   Soft sweet citrus pith and peel, a touch of sweet tobacco.   Moderately sweet, make that fairly sweet.   Low bitterness.   Soft pith and peel linger.   Very light bitterness.   Smooth and easy drinking.
3.5 Draft pour at special brews. Pours a copper color with no head really. Kind of a tropical aroma with some malt. Sweet malty flavor with a bitter hop finish that is a little overpowering. Decent IPA here, but not a real standout.
3.6 Copper in color, very clear. The head almost completely disappears, but it gives a frosty reminder of its presence on the side of the glass. The aroma is bread crust, touch if spicy rye. Hops are resinous, but dry, like an oak table; sawdust? It’s overtly woody, but like older, carved wood. Stained wood. The flavor is more stained oak; rye bread spices. Touches of soil-covered oranges and earthy tangerines. Creamy feeling, a little prickly. It’s a very solid pale ale; this might have been an above-the-line IPA about 8 years ago, and just because it’s at-the-line now doesn’t mean it’s a lesser beer.
3.5 Dark gold pour, white head. Aroma is hop bitterness and citrus. Taste is pineapple, orange, and grapefruit. Very smooth mild bitterness. Floral aftertaste, some malt too. Nice single hop ipa.
3.5 Poured from 12oz bottle, pours a clear dark amber with a thick off white head, aroma is pretty dank with some tropical fruit, the flavor has a decent hop front end with a bitter finish, smooth, not bad at all
3.4 12oz bottle-offwhite-gold. A-melon/tropical fruit, lt malt-caramel. T-melon/some dank hops, lt/med malt-sweet, some pineapple juice taste and mouthfeel.
3.1 Pours a dark rust orange with thick white head. Has a faint citrus hop aroma. Taste is almost like sour citrus with hops, malts and grains. A very dry malty and bitter hop aftertaste
3.5 12oz bottle, decent amount of hops, balanced hop flavor (not real strong)with some fruit, grapefruit taste.
3.6 Given to me by a friend at my birthday party, enjoyed on a steamy mid-August work night. I think this is my favorite from the Deconstructed offerings I’ve had so far. Appearance is a darker gold with a thin white rim around the glass. Aroma is light and faint, nice light spice note, light malt. Taste goes down lightly crisp with an equally light bitterness, light pineapple / tropical fruit in the backend. Good stuff.
3.8 A nice gold color, not much head to it. A good scent but a bit light in taste and no aftertaste. It seems to have a little maltish taste, not much of an IPA taste.
3.3 Pint at World of Beer Raleigh. Good aroma sweet. Fruity. Peach and Citrus. Clean brownish orange color. OK head and lace. Bittersweet flavor. Medium body. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. Bitter sweet finish.nice. aroma best part for me. Nice fruit notes. Flavour less interesting. Fine ipa.
2.2 Pours a clear amber color with a small off white head. Aromas of citrus fruit and dirt. Taste is bitter and semi sweet. Flavors of some unripened citrus fruit, caramel, cardboard, soap. This is nowhere near other all-mosaic hopped beers I’ve had. In fact, this whole "deconstructed" series is pretty much garbage. Scroll past this dumpster juice.
1.3 From a bottle looks thick. Smells like IPA of course, but with volatile hydrocarbons. First taste is big rude happy bullshit. Viscous, mouth coating bitter pine tar nasty rude Nellie. There you have it.
3.8 Pours dark amber with a whitehead. Mild hoppy taste with a pineapple finish. In fact the sweet pineapple flavor stays with you as you breathe in. This is almost a dark shandy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
3.4 clear amber color with a thin off white head. aroma is grapefruit hops. Flavor is grapefruit, pineapple, and some caramel malt.
3.9 Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a nice amber color with a massive off-white amber tinged head. The head has fantastic retention and last a very long time, with it eventually fading leaving a wonderful level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The smell is quite heavy of a tropical fruity nature with lots of mango. tangerine and papaya there. Along with the tropical fruits comes some lighter bready and caramel smells as well as a little bit of a floral and pine aroma. Overall the aroma is quite pleasant and smooth. Taste – The taste begins with a sweet caramel and bready flavor with a good deal of tangerine. Along with these flavors comes a little bit of a grapefruit hop upfront. As the flavor advances, more and amore breadiness comes to the tongue along with some other tropical fruit flavors of pineapple and mango. Other hop flavors of a floral and grassy nature also join the tongue, but with these remaining rather light. While the floral and grassy that join remain rather light, a pine hop taste which joins the taste at the end, actually gets somewhat stronger, and mixes with the sweeter and maltier flavors of the brew to leave a nice smoothly hopped, sweet, and malty flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is above average in its thickness with a carbonation level that is average. The thicker body and average carbonation create a nice base for the mix of sweet and hop and create a rather easy drinking, malty, and sweet IPA. Overall – Quite a tasty IPA. About as good as the original latitude 48 (maybe just a touch below the original), While I am kind of partial to mosaic hops and would highly recommend this brew, it may not be quite as balanced as the original, but even said it is very easy drinking and delicious overall.
4.1 Deep golden amber, with a small amount of head. Aroma is wonderful, fruity and a bit piney. Flavor is a bit fruity, balanced malt and bitterness. Medium light mouthfeel, balanced bitterness. Quite a delicious IPA.
4.0 tropical type fruit not at all over sweet and ripe. pine cone hop character the beer is balanced with broom straw in an ear wax kind of funk. moderate finis the beer is a clear winner.
3.6 Poured from a bottle. Clear golden color, small white head. Apricot nose. Full body with medium apricot flavor with a medium finish.
3.4 Another good ipa from Sam Adams. The aroma is kind of classically grapefruit, but the taste is distinctive, sweeter, maybe tangerine.
4.0 Very weak aroma of hops with a trace of citrus. Clear caramel color no head. Amazing taste of fruit, slightly sweet with a chalky feel, an apricot finish with a trace of bitterness.
3.6 Deep amber, almost brown, with a fluffy bright white head, nice retention and lace. Strong grapefruit and pine hops on the nose with a bit of pepper. Crisp bitterness dominates the flavor, with notes of honey and caramel for balance. Medium body, creamy stickiness on the palate, lively carbonation, and a super clean finish.
4.2 Bottle. Pours clear dark amber with just a little head. The label on the bottle says it all. Nose is nice pineapple. Taste is pineapple and mandarin orange. Pine bitterness in the back end.
3.7 Amber color with a sizable off white head. Aroma is a bit fruity, citrus with notes of orange. Flavor is citrus hops with a touch of orange. Some sweet malt balances out the hops. Very drinkable. Wife: 3.6
3.7 A clear reddish amber beer with a small white head. The aroma is tropical fruit and piney. The flavor is resinous and fruity, the best of the bunch.
3.9 Bottle, from Deconstructed 12 pack. Pours a deep clear copper color with a thick off white head that has somewhat good retention. Finally! Aroma is big tropical fruit with this one. Pineapple & bitter orange stand out. Flavor is really nice. Still with the sweet malt, but the hop notes.... WOW. Some grapefruit, some orange, and some resin. Body is medium with a crisp bitter finish. Nice one!
4.3 Samuel Adams Deconstructed series. The best of the batch! Regardless of brewer, you cannot go wrong with the Mosaic hops. A flavorful, hoppy beer with a hint of grapefruit.
