Samuel Adams Noble Pils

Samuel Adams Noble Pils

2009 Beer Lover’s Choice Contestant - Sample A. Similar to a traditional Czech Pilsner, our Samuel Adams Pils is brewed with a blend of 5 Noble Hop varieties from each of the world’s only remaining Noble Hop growing regions. The spicy, herbal and citrus hop character is well balanced by the Weyermann Bohemian Pilsner malt, adding honeyed malt character and full body without sweetness.

3.2 Bottle in Seattle. From the mixed pack. White lingering head, quite clear gold. Grassy, earthy hop aroma. Warm, creamy malt backbone isn’t impressive or able to carry the hops very well. Honey, herbs and grassy hops in the flavor. A little coating sweet with a fair bittering finish. Not great.
3.2 Pretty darn tasty for a pilsner. Darker in color and a little more flavor than expected.
3.7 12 ounce bottle poured to wine glass Appearance:medium amber, golden, clear small foam that lingers Aroma: not a lot Taste: pleasant low-medium bitterness Mouth feel: tart, medium follow through, long bitter sweet finish, very good carbonation Overall: very good beer, ok to repeat but not look for drank: February 23, 2017 10:26 PM
3.5 Pretty tasty stuff, nice balance of hop and malt, u kinda get the best of both worlds. Smells like west coast hops. Kinda juicy too
3.9 Pours a golden yellow color with a white head. Floral, hop, grass and biscuit aroma and flavors. Light body and average carbonation. Floral, grass and hop finish. Clean and flavorful, very nice.
4.3 Nice , Strohs like . Just a nice smooth pilsner with great body and a slight malt tickle! Love it.
3.5 12 ounce bottle. Label says 4.9% ABV. Bright brassy gold color. Medium sized frothy white head. A fine looking beer. Aroma has notes of honey malt and citrusy hops. Flavor is sweet malt with honeyish notes. Midtaste brings grassy hops with a hint of lemongrass. Slightly tart, dry finish has peppery notes. Overall, a tasty Pils with complex flavor.
3.1 (12oz bottle) AROMA: I was expecting more here. english muffin, dough, some floral/perfume, touch of herbs/coriander, cloves, spice. fragrant laundry detergent (mostly in a good way). APPEARANCE: gold yellow, clear, a bit light with the head that quickly recedes to a some clinginess, ok carbonation. Can force a larger head with a hard pour. TASTE: good lager taste. Falls short of what I normally think of as a Czech Pils. Sweet corn up front. a little bit of smokiness and coffee in the middle, tobacco/toast, green, herbal, spicey/sharp. PALATE: light-medium in body, sharp, fresh, clean, decent lingering bitterness. OVERALL: This is actually a very good lager, but for some reason, I was expecting it to WOW me. Pretty good balance (in fact so balanced that nothing specific really standouts with respect to malt and flavor and hops), very drinkable, not too light, not too heavy, the more I drank the better it got.
3.9 12oz bottle to tulip. Pours clear gold with white sticky head. Aroma of lemongrass, light pine, citrus blossom, floral, slightly metallic, green tea. Taste of same with light peppering. Some honey per style. Not so much cracker. Malt is perceived heavier than style but can’t put my finger on the bready profile.
2.6 Nice beer but that's about all. Step up from a light beer with the floral aroma and taste though
3.3 Pours a clear gold with light white head a carbonation. A citrus, pine, floral, grain, and malt aroma. A citrus, pine, grains, malts, and spices. A lightly bitter hop and dry grain aftertaste.
3.7 Straw, herbal, citrus, hoppy. Fresh and crisp, easy to drink. Not too complex, enjoyable.
3.2 Pours hey crystal clear classic golden with a one finger, rich off white head. Nice interplay between the floral, citrus, and Eastern European hop aromas. A lot of tanginess and bitterness with muted sweetness in the background. An unfortunate staleness emerges midway. Full body with mild crispness.
2.7 Refreshing and clean tasting. This was pretty good. Fairly light and noticeable citrus character. Certainly one of my favorite offering by the brewer.
3.9 DATE: July 3, 2016... OCCASION: Game of Thrones Season Four on disc... waiting was worth it... GLASSWARE: Paulaner pokal... a handsome golden body bubbles like champagne, while the head is a thick, frothy and a near finger in depth--strikingly resilient... light herbal hints with pepper and spiciness, with the unmistakable Noble hop that elevates a pilsner.... the floral qualities are aromatic, alluring and honeyed... the body is a pleasant, medium-bodied sip that is balanced, comfortably moving through the mouth and throat... this beer’s Noble hops boost the profile, with citrus-- lemon, lemongrass and light pine... as part of the Brewmaster Sampler, this is an excellent take on the style and rounds the experience into a more drinkable, more flavorful one than the average pilsner might have...
3.9 Pours straw golden with a decent eggshell head that hangs out and laces nicely. Nose involves some really nice soft floral and spicy noble hop notes, really well developed and robust, with just hints of pale, lightly toasted malt. Slightly sweet, fairly bitter. Medium bodied, creamy, decent action, finishing dry and herbal/leafy with hops. Really nice brew, glad I got to try it.
3.0 11th May 2016, 12oz bottle from a 24 pack of Adventurous Lagers (or something similar) at my daughters place. Bright, clean and clear with a white head, just like a Lager/Pilsner should be. Mild malt presence in the nose, less so in the mini-hop led flavour. Decent Pilsner, both refreshing and thirst quenching without testing your taste buds or sense of smell too greatly.
3.7 Pours a straw color. About one finger white head. Pretty nice carbonation. Okay retention, okay lacing. Nothing special. Aroma is lightly piney, some lime, some honey. Also smells like bread crust. Taste is piney. It’s slightly bitter leaning. Mostly balanced. I taste the honey they used for balance. It has a fruity taste, maybe melon? The hops are interesting in this. Like I said, piney, but not strong, not bitter. Mouthfeel is medium body. Pretty well carbonated, so its prickly on the tongue. Slightly bitter only slightly. Lip smacking good. Very dry. Overall, its rather good. It’s not as good as I had heard, but still a great pils. Certainly worth trying. I would recommend it, and I’ll be drinking this again.
3.2 Purchased in Vermont in their Cabin mixed 12-pack. Pours a clean golden colour with a white cap and some decent creamy lace. Grassy hop aromas. Nice fresh Noble hops with some decent bitterness, dryness. Nice mild grain. A good hoppy pilsner.
3.0 Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a clear golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is yeasty. The taste is stale bread with a buttery texture. I did not appreciate this beer.
3.0 12 oz bottle. Pours a pale golden with minimal lasting head and lots of white lacing. Aroma of stale wheat, cardboard, maize. Taste is slightly sweet, slightly bitter, hoppy, and fruity, turning more bitter after a moment. Finish of bitter hops. Not bad, would probably buy again.
3.4 I poured it from the bottle into a pint glass. It pours golden with a white head and pretty good lacing. The aroma is grassy malt and floral hops. The taste is a nice balance of slightly bitter hops, some fruit, biscuit, grassy, and some honey. I was surprised at how much I liked this.
3.1 12 oz bottle. Golden to orange, bright and clear in appearance with a white head. Aroma of husky grains, toasted malts, light noble hop spice and hints of herbs and citrus fruit. Similar flavor, adding mild hop bitterness and a light grainy malt sweetness. Not a bad pils, may have been a little old.
2.6 Poured from a bottle. Pours a clear pale yellow with a thin white ring. Slightly tart doughy yeast aroma. Taste is somewhat bready and flat then disappears quickly. Not harsh or bitter. Pretty unremarkable. Simple.
3.3 Bottle: It poured a clear gold with a white head that quickly dissipated. The aroma was malty and the flavor matched. Very clean finish
3.5 Bottle at home. Aroma is grass and citrus, some hay. Flavor is mainly citrus hops, slightly bitter notes, grass, some light biscuity malts. Overall, this is quite a well balanced brew and an enjoyable pilsener.
4.1 A great Pilsener. Light and hoppy, nice clean tart fruit. Crisp and clean. No off flavors. Drink it fresh. Got this in a sampler pack but would get a 6’er in the summer if I could find them.
1.3 I just don’t get it. I don’t enjoy a single thing about this beer and it’s lauded as one of the best Sam Adams has to produce. Oh well. Okay, fine. I enjoy the colors on the label (no I don’t).
2.0 12 oz. bottle. Pours light colored with white head. Aroma is medicinal. Taste, hops and bitterness. Long lasting aftertaste.
3.8 Tons of bubbles rocket up through a pale orange-yellow beer, perfectly clear, topped with a nice, clingy head of white foam. Very, very nice. Grassy hops rule the nose, balanced by a light breadiness and a noticeable sour yeast character. The flavor has all the character of pilsners I’ve had in Germany: bright citrus hops dance around with some notes of sweet light lemon and pineapple. I even get a little taste of sticky icky weed which adds to the beer and works great with the other flavors. Surprisingly full-bodied, with lively pepper bubbles. Silky body. This is one killer pilsner.
