2.4 drank from bottle..aroma of pine,resin,grass...tastes like it smells...just standard pale ale.
2.7 a little thin, very average pale ale. there are better offerings out there, but it’s worth drinking...it just does nothing to separate itself from a large pack."
2.7 bottle. Golden with small head. Mild body with pretty weak English hops. I’m not particularly impressed. A bit below average.
3.5 Modest head that dies to nearly no bubbles. Initially light lace, then none. Dark gold color with a touch of green; slight haze. Pleasant floral hop aroma; Closer to the British style in the malt flavor. Slightly tart and quite dry. The hop finish is brief and not very pronounced. Good body with a high carbonation level.
3.1 5/29/2010. Light amber color with a white head. Malty aromas with light fruit, citrus and caramel. light hoppy flavors with malt and caramel mostly.
2.9 Tap @brewery as "Pale Ale with Cascade hops" Clear golden color, good off-white head. Piney, malty aroma. Light to medium bodied. Pale malty, clean palate. Light piney-citrusy finish. Balanced.
1.6 A-yellow, clear, head has sudsy white head that disappears quickly A-bready malt, and faint grassy hop aroma T-light malt, again bread and grass is the most I can really get out of this. P-thin,crisp body. I keep double checking bottle for lager O-A great introduction beer, never revisit after that, very blah.
2.8 Bottle. Pours gold with a small white head. Malt and toasted grain aroma with a touch of fruit and florals. Caramel and light grain flavor with a touch of fruity and floral hops. Dry and only slightly bitter finish. Flavor mostly dominated by the malts.
3.8 Sam Adams Pale Ale is probably one of their more bitter beers but it still has that delicious full body taste and smooth texture that Sam Adams is know for. I should mention that even though it does have that bitter taste, the bitterness still doesn’t compare to that of say Stone’s IPA. I would call this a good bar beer to have 1 or 2 of.
3.4 Not a bad pale ale. I’d say this one would be a good session brew for sure. Little bit hard to find however. Pours a hazy amber with a white head, Notes of malt and hops on the nose. Well balanced mouth feel. Would pair well with food.
3.1 Backlog purge. Bottle poured into a pint glass. Dim gold with white head. Very English with appley Fuggles and earthy Kent goldings, muddled tea-like maltiness, unfulfilling body.
2.8 Yellow almost gold pour with white head. Light perfumy hops with a wet dog like odor. Dry hay like maltiness with a perfumy hops bitter. Medium light bodied with aggressive carbonation.
3.4 Not the best Sam has but a very decent Pale Ale. Nice hop notes and pretty smooth flavor throughout. Definitely a good beer to enjoy on a hot summer day.
3.0 12oz bottle picked up at the state store Appearance: Clear golden with a medium sized white head and some lacing Aroma: Honey, malts and skunky Taste: Malts, grainy, honey and sweet OK, sweet without much depth.
3.3 12 oz. bottle. Pours gold with a medium, off-white head. The aroma is citrus, floral, and pine hops, hay, and caramel malts. The flavor is sweet, with a subdued but pleasant bitterness. The palate is light to medium, fairly carbonated, and crisp. Overall, this is a straightforward and reasonably tasty ale.
4.0 Originally reviewed: 10/7/10. 12oz bottle picked up in a mixed sixer from Total Wine. Poured into a pint glass. Pours a much lighter than expected pale gold. This looks like a lager. A small finger-width white head on top. Light lacing left behind. Scents of honey, flowers, jello, and faint fuggle hops. Good crisp ale here. Carbonation level is good, finishes clean. This has great flavor. Excellent balance between the bittering hops and a smooth sweet finish. Floral notes noted in the flavor, as well as some apple notes. This surprised me. I wasn’t expecting much, but this is as accessible of a Pale Ale as one can get. A spot in the fridge is set aside for this one from now on.
2.8 Bottle Appearance - Clean yellow body, lots of bubbles, soapy head Aroma - Honey, toffee, yeast and grapefuit Taste - Toffee, dried orange, fuggles, hop finish I didn’t expect much from this beer, but it was incredibly session-able. Lots of unique flavors in this pale ale, and the toffee notes combined with the light hop character in the aftertaste... This one may turn some heads as it’s not bad at all.
2.2 Not very impressive. Light amber with a small head. The aroma is weak with some bread and grass. The flavor is the same with a touch of hops. Very thin and watery.
3.4 Deep gold with a 2 finger head that faded rather quickly, but had decent lace. Deep honey malt aromas with a slight citrus smell mixed in. Upon first tasting its a big honey malt followed by a subdued hop flavor finishing with a decent mix of the two. Pretty evenly balanced.
3.0 hops comes through in nose, light amber hops in front alittle flora, flat malt essence lightly lingers, somewhat a champagne finish, overall, ok good refreshing warmer weather beer
2.8 Pale straw golden yellow color with a medium sized head. Almost no aroma. Taste is weak with only notes of hops.
3.4 Bottle, Pours a slightly hazy straw yellow. Small one finger white head that dissipates quickly. Slight floral and fruity hop aroma. Pale malt. Nothing to crazy. Taste is some pale malt with a nice touch of hops flavor. Nothing overwhelming. Has a little fruity sweetness. Nothing too complex but a solid English pale. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Easy to drink. Quick finish a little metallicy.
2.3 Bottle. Aroma of orange and malt. Taste has some maltiness to it, mostly has a watery hoppy flavor to it. Orange zest and coriander. I’d say this is pretty decent, bit subpar overall. Not something to grab over another beer. 5.4% alcohol.
3.2 a decent Pale Ale, the first time I tried it, I didn’t think much of it, but upon follow up sampling’s, it has started to grow on me. Not something I would actively seek out, but a solid easy drinking Pale Ale. Prevailing taste is of roasted malts and mellow hops.
2.6 Pours a hazy yellow, with a foamy white head that dissipated quick. Has some fruity notes in the nose some hops coming through. Tastes has some mild bitterness and some fruity sweetness, but also a bit watery in the end. Carbonation is average, and it ends up being rather bland overall. Definitely a session brew and one I would recommend to someone who is new to the style, but not one I would consider a good representation.
3.0 Bought as part of the mix-pack, poured from bottle into standard pint glass. Nice copper color and lasting white foam. Distinctive English aroma hops. Malty-sweet taste with hints of bread and caramel, a little nutty. Bright fruity aftertaste from ale yeast. All-around, a nice interpretation of classic English Pale Ale.
3.4 Some malt and sweetness in the aroma. More of the same in the flavor, with a little bit of hop finish. Nothing special, but still a good, easy-drinking beer.
2.9 355ml bottle as part of a variety pack. Amber/orange colour. Smell wasn’t strong, taste was mostly malty with a good hops finish. Body is medium. Overall, a solid average ale with no standout strengths or weaknesses.
2.8 Pale orange gold. Flavor: malt heavy with sweet hoppy spike. Aroma is hoppy but not very... plentiful.
2.9 Deep golden with average head. The aroma is grainy, bread dough, brown sugar, and some orange. The flavor is malty sweet, a little over malted for an English Pale, but this is a Sam Adams beer after all. The East Kent Goldings are apparent on the mildly bitter finish. Unremarkable, but not terrible.
