Samuel Adams Porch Rocker

Samuel Adams Porch Rocker

Samuel Adams is currently in the process of brewing up a German style called “radler.” The name radler translates to “cyclist,” A 50/50 (ish) blend of beer and lemonade. (Like a shandy).

Perfect for any summer day, Samuel Adams® Porch Rocker was inspired by traditional Bavarian Radlers that mix beer with German-style lemonade. For our bright and citrusy Radler, we blended a Helles beer with lemon for a fresh-squeezed lemon taste, effervescent sweetness, and slightly tart, refreshing finish. A light malt character and hint of hops balance out this summer brew.

3.5 12 ounce bottle at sisters house. Not much of aroma but a little sweetness. Golden in color. Very little head. Wow! Love the taste. Sweet and light bodied. Just unusual taste I really like. Sweet after taste. Could drink this all night long! Cheers!
2.7 12 oz bottle. Smells of lemon/ lemonade with a touch of something artificial can't put my nose on it. Orange in color and clear. Tastes lemony, tastes like a lager mixed with lemon. Decent for a lawnmower beer. Leaves a sticky sweet film in the mouth.
1.1 This was the 2nd nastiest beer I have tried only behind Budweiser E that stuff was really bad
3.8 Excellent taste, not bitter, sweet citrus lemon taste
3.0 12oz bottle. Pours golden with a small off-white head. Aroma is lemonade. Taste is lightly sweet/tart; lemonade with a little cracker and honey. Light grass in the finish. Light body. Moderate carbonation. Nothing special but enjoyable.
3.5 The aroma is fresh and pleasant. The taste is average and the finish is bright and lemony
3.7 Good with more lemon flavor than I'm accustomed too. The aroma is pleasant. the taste is balanced and smooth. The finish is lemony.
3.6 Good Beer!
3.2 From 12 oz bottle at home, in a pint skaker, from an Adams Summer Variety pack. Very citrusy sweet/sour aroma, of course. Shandies aren't usually my favorite, as they are often wheat beers, of which I am not a fan. But this one is pretty decent. You are first hit with sweet, then beer, then faint sourness. Not my favorite but not bad. Should go well with spicy food or for warm weather session drinking.
5.0 It’s delicious. An absolute treat of a beer. Has a fantastic citrus/lemonade style flavor while keeping the taste of a proper beer in tact. Great for anyone who loves beer and even tasty enough for someone who doesn’t. I loved this beer so much I’d drink it non-alcoholic. No question, this is their best beer since Oktoberfest. No overbearing soap flavor aftertaste either, which is something I can never get over on beers like Sam’s 76.
3.7 To me, this is one of the easiest drinking beers. And it’s a good beer. It goes with anything. Spicy food, steaks, burgers, etc. Golden body and a thin white head. Aroma is malt and lemon. Medium mouthfeel, decent carbonation. Flavor is fairly sweet and super smooth. Biscuit and malt leads to a lemonade finish. So refreshing, so tasty.
3.3 Pours clear and golden with a small, fizzy, white head. Smells like a biscuity beetles helles with a small splash of lemonade. Medium-bodied with fizzy carbonation. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly tart. Finishes crisp, clean and refreshing. The base beer's not much, but the lemonade helps.
3.8 Pours an amber color with minimal but lasting lacing. wonderful aroma of citrus, mostly lemon. Taste of wheat with lemon tones, not too lemony, not bitter but more lemon sweet. Best on a hot day with franks or burgers. Very enjoyable, will buy again.
2.9 I guess this is Samuel Adams's version of a Shandy.....which is starting to make its ways here during the summer seasonals. Forgot to review this a few months ago. Had some nice wheaty characteristics followed by lemon and hops, but not that overwhelming with the citrus. I found it enjoyable to drink for the occasions, which mainly called for something lighter to cool down from the summer heat, or to pair with dinner during those times.
0.7 Poured from bottle into tulip L Cross between brown and yellow nice head S Lemon cough drops T Lemon and mint F Carbonation is a little low, the slightest bit tart. Overall not my style maybe somebody would like it but similar to Sam Adams cherry wheat this taste like cough syrup.
2.9 12 oz. can from hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. Very clear honey golden with a big noisy head of off white foam. I smell and taste lemonade, apples and malts. Nothing complex here. Almost no bitterness. Very easy to drink and would make a good enough lawn mower beer. Far from exciting or interesting.
2.5 From backlog. 0,3 litre Bottle at Extended Stay America, Cypress,Ca. Golden with white head. Malts, hops and lemon.
4.6 All around great beer and even better summer beer. Fantastic start, even better finish, not heavy, doesn't fill you up. My favorite beer when the weather gets warm and the boat is in the water.
2.8 Lemon, cereal and apple in nose. Pours golden with white head. Taste is medium sweet and mild sour with cereal and lemonade. Very low bitter finish, lively carbo. Overall decent, not oversweetened.
2.6 Taste: lemon, grapefruit artificial sweetness, slight hop notes. Citrus and grassy nose. Gold, mostly clear with average head and lace. Light to med/light body.
3.3 On tap at T-Bones. Appearance is clear yellow with greenish tinge, nice sparkle, finger-width white head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is pilsner malts and light fruit. Taste is strong lemon with a background malt backbone. Palate is light bodied with thin texture, lively carbonation and sweet over mildly tart lemon finish. Overall, not much in the way of complexity but it is good for what it is--a light, refreshing brew for a hot summer afternoon on the porch.
2.8 (12oz can) AROMA: mostlly lemony citrus, a little floral APPEARANCE: pale orangey yellow, light head , very clear and well carbonated TASTE:tart citrus, acidic, a little sweet and sour, PALATE: light, crisp, OVERALL: a bit one dimensional, simple, yet enjoyable. Refreshing. A lot of lemon, and enough beer to give you a little kick. UPDATE (may 31 2019, original review was in 2018): light in body, lemony but with underlying bread and dairy. It's summer now and i found this quite enjoyable as a beer-like beverage. a good Radler/Shandy.
3.5 Pours with a three-finger white head that fades quickly leaving a little lace. Color is crystal clear amber. Light bodied and medium carbonation. Nose is light lemon and flavor follows with same. Easy session beer. Part of mixed 6-pak $9.99, 12 oz bottle from Shaw's Supermarket Concord. NH
1.2 Bottle from Franks. Clear yellow coloured. Lemoney, light malty. Little shandy like. Poor all around.
3.2 Pours straw with a white head. Aromas of lemon. Taste the same with some malt sweetness. Very smooth drinkable beer. Clean finish. Little lacing in the glass.
3.4 Pours a medium yellow with a quickly dissolving white head with little lacing. Nose is lemon, lemon, lemon. Taste is lemon with a light malt backbone. Body is thin. Quaffable. 12 oz can BBY 9/18
3.6 12 oz bottle. Straw color with a quickly dissipating white head. Aroma of lemon, shortbread, coriander, and yeast. Certainly refreshing. Wheaty, grassy, mildly tart and mildly sweet.
2.7 Fine summer beer. Very grapefruit shandy, decently heavy helles type beer presence, good enough.
2.2 Bitter and generally underwhelming.
3.7 Eloquent taste that reminders the drinker of a hefeweizen with a sightly altered palate and distinct notes of lemon. Little bit of a salt flavor, kind of like a really mild gose beer. Good beer.
