Samuel Adams Sam '76

Samuel Adams Sam '76

By experimenting with both lager and ale yeast strains, the brewers at Sam Adams came up with the concept for a brand new beer – Sam ’76. This truly unique brew takes two active fermentations and blends them together to create a deliciously harmonious result. This process delivers a distinct flavor that showcases the slight fruitiness of an ale with the balanced drinkability and smoothness of a lager. Sam ’76 will surprise any craft beer lover with its huge flavor and aroma along with a light-bodied, refreshing crispness. At just 4.7% ABV, this brew is perfect for those sessionable occasions. Cascade, Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe and Galaxy hops impart a tropical citrus aroma that gives way to a bright, juicy citrus hop flavor but without the hop bitterness. The brewers have been experimenting for over a year, tested over 60 iterations with multiple combinations of 12 different hop varieties in the nano brewery in Boston in order to perfect the Sam ’76 recipe.

3.1 can. Poured clear straw coloured with nice lacing. Aroma of lemon peel and herbal hops. Light-medium bodied, creamy carbonation, refreshing mouthfeel. Juicy citrus flavour with biscuity malts, fresh hoppy notes but not overly bitter.
2.5 Rating #2907 - January 1, 2020 - Taster sample as I used most of the 473mL can to soak some stewing beef in. B Pale, clear, w/ a white head. Aroma is mild corn, mild vegetal- Has a light sweetness, light body, creamy, average carbonation. Meh-a-saurus Rex.
3.7 Poured a golden color thick head disappear quickly nice lacing great beer can drink this all night
3.1 Bottle provided by my mom during a holiday visit. Thanks but also "OK boomer". Mostly clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is pleasant, hoppy with pineapple, cream, light bread. Flavor is a little more watery, bready, citrus hops. Medium light feel, crisp. Fine for what it is.
4.1 From the end of corporate hell event. Great favor and color. Just enough hops to make more interesting than your average Sam.
3.8 Very impressed with it's flavor. Resembles a faint cream soda. Has a great look to it and nice smell. Would buy more than one next time!
3.1 Variety pack. The pour is bright yellow & it is well carbonated. On the aroma I'm picking up some citrus & hops. On the taste i'm getting the same mixed with some pale lager characteristics. This beer is easier to drink than I expected, it is well worth the try. There is no lingering bitterness but there is definitely some pale ale presence in this beer. This is more of a summer beer, maybe for a bbq.
3.9 Cloudy yellow pour, not much head. Nice citrus, grapefruit aroma. Very light but full of flavor. Hoppy but not bitter
3.3 355ml Dose. Dunkelgolden, opalisierend mit kleiner Schaumkrone. Fruchtig mit blumigen Aroma. Herb im Abgang.
3.0 Bottle from Walmart. Not sure how it's a cream ale when it read lager on the bottle. Crisp with light hops. Pretty much a Sam Adams light beer of sorts.
3.0 A basic beer. Not objectionable but not so drinkable by someone like me looking at lease average taste.
3.0 Sampled at Brown Derby Oktoberfest on 10/05/19. Tasted fairly standard and clean lager to me. Wouldn't have known it was classified as a cream ale.
3.4 probably an august canning so pretty fresh for an american brew. can that pours almost clear yellow-gold with a reviving white cap offering some retention and lacing. spicy citrus, some lean pale cereal fruitiness, wee bit of cardboard, clean mildly fruity yeast action. relatively high carbonation, light body - thin but not watery; dry and crisp peppery-citrusy finish. like a lightly hopped session ale - forgettable but still nice for a kinda macro.
2.9 Pours a pale yellow with thin head. Faint stale yeast aroma. Taste is spur fruit and light hay. Finish is soft bitterness. Even for a lawnmower beer, this one is pretty plain.
5.0 This is the best beer I have ever laid my tast buds on.
3.2 12 oz bottle, best by 11/19. Pours slightly hazy yellow gold with a big rocky white head that retains fairly well and leaves a little lacing. The aroma is sweet malt with fruity floral hops. The flavor is sweet bready malt with fruity hops and a slight vegetal note. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with prickly carbonation and a little watery. Overall, a decent lager - better than expected.
3.1 473ml can from the LCBO. Pours a clear golden colour with modest-sized white head. Aroma is mellow fruit, orange most notably, and mellow grains. Flavour has gently sweet orange peel, cereal grains and a bit of herbal character. Mouthfeel has some creaminess. Pleasant.
3.0 Keg at Bodean's. Golden pour with decent head, very smooth palate, light hop, easy drinking if a bit boring.
1.0 This was part of a sample pack that I picked up at the grocery store. I had seen favorable reviews of this beer, and was looking forward to trying it. Sadly, it’s not what I expected. Upon deeper examination, it might be one of the hops that doesn’t work for me. I’ve never liked Mozaic. The beer pours a straw to golden color, with a thin white head. The color is a little hazy. But I’m a homebrewer, so a little haze doesn’t bother me (we are talking about an ale, right?). The aroma is where I first notice the Mozaic hops. Very dank, and not pleasant at all. Like a cat’s litter box. Taste isn’t any better. Not bad, if I drink it fast enough. If I try to enjoy it, the whole litter box sensation comes back and I’m like, “Why do I keep doing this to myself?” I once had a six pack of another ale featuring Mozaic hops. And I found that if I forgot about it in the basement for about six months, the dank had faded and I was left with something drinkable. I think I’ll do the same with the remainders from this sample pack.
3.8 New to craft beer and this is the first one. Hop smell is aromatic, not to overwhelming and easily drinkable. Love the style of beer. Golden color with haze.
2.8 Can from the lcbo. Quite the fancy hop list for this brew..... Can't say I can find any of them! Light citrus, orange zest, soft cereals. Light mouth feel, clean finish, very little bitterness. They nailed the easy drinking part, it's a quick dry finish, with very little going on. Light fruit on the nose, quick, dry, easy drinking. Actually a good into to craft beer for newbies. But other than that, it's very underwhelming.
2.7 Pours clear gold and has a light, grainy, bready aroma. The flavor is similar with malty sweetness and very mild hops. There’s maybe a touch of citrus. It’s okay at best.
2.4 12 oz. bottle from summer 12 pack served in a shaker- poured a moderately turbid pale orange-yellow color, white ring about the vessel for a head , no lacing. Aroma of yeast and light fruit. Hits the mouth with a light medium body, hops hit upfront and the malt just doesn’t feel right, middle has a fruit sensation that lasts until the finish. All over the map- definitely not a smooth cream ale by any means.
1.1 This beer tastes like a poisonous plant exploded in my mouth. If I could rate a zero on taste I would.
4.4 A near perfect beer for the price. It's an amazing and revolutionary combination of refreshment, crispness, flavor, and relative complexity. Virtually anyone can enjoy this beer, and it pairs surprisingly well with most foods. Another Samuel Adams quality craft beer for the price of a Budweiser.
3.5 Pours a hazy yellow with a medium white head. Sweet, citrusy flavor with a fair amount of hops. Very good and refreshing beer that I will definitely try again!
3.1 Can - 12oz. Nice hazy blond body with an average, white foamy head. Fresh malty/hoppy aroma with herbal and flowery hints. Its well balanced malty/hoppy taste carries herbal and some citrusy notes. Ends with a decent bitter/herbal finish. Good thirst quencher.
3.5 Pretty unique concept, combining two opposites together. Pours hazy yellow with big white head that sticks around and leaves lots of lacing on the glass. medium body with above average carbonation. Hints of biscuit and bread. Low bitter finish.
3.1 473ml can. Slightly hazy golden with a foamy white head. Flavors are bread, biscuity cereals, lime zest, orange, apple and mango with floral and mineral notes. Light body, lively carbonation, thin texture.
2.9 Pours almost clear yellow, big off white head. Aroma gas definite tropical notes blending with breadiness. Tastes more like a lite lager with some soft doughiness. Light mouthfeel. Like a lite beer but with more aroma. Okay but not the goto warm weather beer I had hoped for.
